It's not remotely realistic to expect the average voter to be interested in reading about the Hungarian star of the 30s or Austrian star of the 40s, it's never going to happen. At the same time I really can't be bothered going for a votes-based team because by the time you get to the QFs, SFs it can get a bit dull. If I've got my own personal heroes to defend it might make things more interesting. Di Stéfano's genuinely the most awe-inspiring player I've seen, Brazil '82 is probably my favourite footballing side and Falcão was "el cerebro del equipo" as the Spanish commentators put it, and then Giggsy and Keane add a tangible feel to it having actually seen them live. I've no doubt Bozsik was a monstrous player and as an opposition player I'll regard him as that but it wouldn't feel right arguing for players I've only ever seen in grainy 30-min highlight reels (15 mins of which is pictures of the crowd reaction!). I'm sticking with players I know inside-out.
