Yeah, I know - the bidding format is tricky in that regard. You can't go to sleep for any length of time if you want to avoid paying a premium.

As for the auction starting when it did, though, I reckon that was fair as can be: It was announced clearly - and on multiple occasions - that the auction would begin on Tuesday, possibly Monday, and then various delays led to it kicking off yesterday instead, after crappy vs Stobz had finished (which was also announced prior to that match).

I would say that pretty much is the perfect time for all the participants to be in the know. In any case, it can't be rolled back now.

Not that he's any less of a player, but I thought Souness might go a bit cheaper given he's not of United and Irish stock, which is a gold dust combination on the Caf.

Yeah both are in same bracket but Keane will win you a lot more votes. For example, Joga/Barney lose neither match up if they had Keane there instead of Souness

Yeah both are in the same class with nothing much in between them but Keane is definitely much more of a vote puller. Our initial plan was to go bust on the Scholes-Keane duo but once we saw Lynk going for Keane we lost all hope of getting Keano :lol:.

On the Souness and Keane comparison, I'd say they were both on par more or less tbh. Souness was the slightly more talented and gifted player with slightly better passing. Keane had the slight edge with his fearsome aura and leadership.

It's not like Keane was a mug with the ball either or that Souness wasn't a proper scary and awe-inspiring leader capable of tearing players into half. Just saying you'd really have to be nitpicking to find the better player and even then it's subjective. Both were great players without too much between them as a total package if you ask me.
