Watching United is never a chore. But the actual craic of matches at OT isn't up to much for 90% of the games - terrible atmosphere even when United are doing well. In contrast, watching down the pub in Mancs with your mates can be great fun - much cheaper and you can drink. The Chubb Clubs in particular have been utter class.

I still go to OT because it's tradition. my family still go and there's a good little group of us that meet up before matches and stand together on the Stretty. And because every now and again you get a gem of a moment when you'd not want to be anywhere else on earth. Oh, and because away matches are still fookin class and going to home matches is still the best way to get hold of tickets.

It's great when people actually bother to show an interest, but 2 of the 4 games I've been on this season have been terrible atmosphere wise and people around me didn't seem to give a toss. One was recording the match using a fecking digital camera, another read the programme rather than watching the match, and one guy was on his phone pretty much the entire time. Then you have most girls who go with their boyfriends and do their fingernails - though I do love girls in football tops so I suppose I can let that one pass.

But yeah, when the whole stadium gets behind the team (Last half hour v City, 7-1 v Roma), there's nothing better, and it's a shame it can't be like that all the time.

I'm still looking to get on as often as I can though because I love watching live football, you see so much more when you're there as opposed to watching it on the TV/stream.

I feel a bit bad for being back in England manx.. you had a season ticket all for yourself back in the day.. ;)

Aye, how much is a plane ticket back to Sweden?! :D

I'm only joking! Glad to have you back! All been well I may have one myself next season, if I can justify the cost...

I love going to OT, I love the buzz about the place before the games, the pubs the walk up Sir Matts etc, then unless I'm sat in the Stretty I often leave asking myself why do I bother. Sat with a bunch of Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime who are more interested in their phones/cameras/being entertained than actually getting behind the team.

I blame success, both on the pitch and that of those personally off it, because football is no longer a working class game, it hasn't been for a long time.

Being at the game last night when we were 3-1 down, made me want to kill myself. However even though the atmosphere was generally shite, even in the Stretty, the last minute goal was pretty good.

The match against City this season and Barca 2 years ago were 2 of the greatest moments of my life (and yes I have had sex, and it's nothing on a rocking OT). Even the games against big 4 after goals is class, just shame we can't do it all the time.

If we're talking about games at OT, the former is usually vastly better craic. :(

For a lot of the games it's much better craic. Better atmosphere, cheaper and you can have a drink.

I understand where you're coming from Ralphie, but I can't possibly agree with this

I want a great atmosphere at the game. But first and foremost, I'm there to watch the football. And you can't beat doing that live. You also can't fully appreciate everything that's going on during the game on TV (that said there's the flip side of being able to see the action more than once in action replay form. Although you interpretation of the game might well e swayed by the commentator. Swings and roundabouts)

Plus of course, depends what pub you're in! I was in an Arsenal pub for the Arsenal game, I didn't particularly care for that 'craic'! :smirk:

Finally some sense ... and from the most unexpected sources ;)

I agree you get a good overall view of the game and get to see things you don't on TV, like how players track back off the ball etc. Always made me laugh when Chief Two-Teams used to rave about how great Hargreaves was when he'd NEVER seen him live!

BUT, where your seats are, and whee I stand, the view isn't that great and I'm not sure you get much more value than from watching it on TV.

Obviously I meant a pub in Mancs.

Anyhow, if it's so good Brad, why are you flogging your ST for December? ;)

I think its a big game mentality, Stoke have a brilliant atmosphere because they are more than likely to lose most games, so getting behind the is totally neccessary whether its chelsea or blackburn at the britania. Games we may well lose like city, chelsea, roma, liverpool, arsenal... always have better atmospheres because people know the team need it, most people in ot think we should walk past sunderland and blackburn.

and no football isnt a working class game and probably never will be.

Has Everton sold out or not? The website's saying tickets are for sale but haven't been able to buy them for the last 3 days.

Having sat in all parts of the stadium, I love the view I have now. Obviously it's skewed towards the side attacking the Stretford end, but I prefer my seat now purely in view terms compared to where I was before upper N2

Hehe, sadly the prices the Glazers charge mean I have no choice but to try and flog some of my tickets during the season, especially due to current economic circumstances

What is the clubs strategy here? Pretending tickets are sold out? Then releasing them on general sale later?
Very few of the games have sold out but as you said we can still buy/sell with Via**** and also on general with the club.

One United members have a certain amount of time that they can send the tickets back so I would imagine this is how further tickets become available.

They may activate Viagogo as a scare tactic for casual supporters who bide their time waiting for the general sale.

I notice this season they seem to be running second ballots as well for one united members.

I love going to OT but I have to admit that I'm enjoying it less this season mostly due to the poor atmosphere. Luckily I have been to a few of the aways which has kept my faith in football fandom.

I've watched a couple of the midweek games on the tele and I have to admit that it's not really bothered me. I felt a little gutted when we drew 3-3 but all in all I'd rather have the petrol money in my back pocket than 7 hours on the M6.

I had a text saying it was on viagogo so theoretically it must have sold out. I reckon it will still go on general sale nearer the time.

No viagogo's still saying the club have not confirmed its sold out so we can't sell tickets.

Edit: Ah nevermind their on sale today.

I've decided, price permitting, to get one in the Stretty for the Everton game. It'll be my first time in the Stretty. I've got a choice of practically the whole stand on viagogo. Any difference where I sit? I was thinking near the tunnel would be sweet.

Stretty upper if you want to sing

Unfortunately I require something lower down, my eyes are fecked. Sat in the North Stand at the back of T2 and had to squint away. Is the atmosphere in stretty t1 as good as t2?

Not at all, but if this is one of your first visits, you probably wont notice.

Go for tier 1, sounds logical on your part.

I'm happy as long as I can join in with people actually singing, unlike the North Stand.

I would go for upper stretty 3103 but 3105 were leading the way against Blackburn. 3105 is also nearer the tunnel.

EDIT - Just noticed yor eyesight go for lower stretty. 105 would be nearest the tunnel.

I can't make the next 3 games at OT. Everton, Besiktas and Spurs(CC). The seat is in the South Stand

£60 for the 3 games. (£50 if you promise to punch the complainer in the row behind square in the hooter)

PM if interested
