ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

Back to the most important question, I thought he was making his 'announcement' today?! The quotes are a WUM so he has yet to 'break his silence'...surely he can't torture us by announcing it now AFTER the euros..

This is the type of stuff that confuses me. People talking about being somehow disrespected.

He's a professional footballer who's been at this club for 5 years and has been a huge factor in amazing recent success. Now he may (or may) not be angling for a new challenge, playing for the team he supported as a boy, the same team his cancer-afflicted old dear wants him to play for before she dies. How the feck has that shown any "disrespect" to any of us cnuts?

Some of the whining in this thread reminds me of someone who's been dumped and resorts to a character assasination of their ex, just to make themselves feel better about being rejected. All a bit silly really.

If he leaves in the summer, good luck to him (but not Madrid, I fuuuuucking hate Madrid) it's been a pleasure to watch him play for United and we'll move on and cope with the loss of a really special player. We always do.

Thanks a lot, atleast someone is showing some faith on him.

good sensible post.

Have you thought what it would be like if he stays for next year....He's going to get some real stick from his own fans and even greater stick from ABU fans. I do believe that unless he says he's staying out his contract he won't be stepping over United balls any more...maybe Glazers balls though.

Ronaldo has hardly shown respect to us in the last few weeks, and if he leaves then people have every right to call him a cnut because that is what he is

Again, it comes down to the manner of the exit. Key factors involved in a supporters decision whether to consider a leaving player a cock or not:

- Is he leaving for a bigger club? Is he leaving for a rival club?
- Who has engineered the move? Has the player angled to leave, or is the club giving him little choice
- Did he handle the circumstances of the move well, did he act with dignity and truely care about the supporters he was leaving behind
- Does he kiss the new teams badge the first time he scores for them

The problem with Ronaldo at the moment is that he hasn't acted with dignity. For a start, if he wants to be at Madrid now, he shouldn't have signed such a long term contract. Typically with 2 years left, if the player wants to leave, he goes, because the risk of him seeing out his contract and leaving for nothing is too great, even selling with 1 year left will dramatically reduce the price he fetches. 4 years left? Going nowhere unless a ridiculous lucrative offer, beyond what the club considers you are actually worth, is made. His comments to the press have been sly, one moment telling the supporters he loves the club and will stay, the next indicating he has to mull over for a few days before making 'a decision', and that he doesn't know where he will be.

United don't want to sell; he's leaving for a club in the same bracket as United and major rivals for European silverware - there's nothing he can achieve there he can't achieve here. And his age too, leaving at 23, is that repaying the faith United have put in him in helping him become the player he is, to move on before he's played some of his 'peak' years at United

I believe all of this gives United supporters every right to be angry and upset by what has happened already, and in the event that he does actually move on. We'd have to wait and see on the badge kissing though...

If all think like you: Yes, probably. Read what I wrote to you in an earlier post, I edited in a comment for you. And I love what you've written about the Champions League finals, and also a lot of your Terry bashing, but in this discussion I'm really disagreeing with you.

If this quotes out today are to be beleived, the focus seem to be on money and noney currently.

Furthermore, you can hardly consider this to be the most dignified way to have handled his transfer, not for him, us as a club, or Madrid [no the latter care about such things].

You can't put all of the blame or annoyance at Real's door here, Ronnie has his fair share too.

As usual the resident caf shrink has to bring some sensibility back to the caf. Good post.

Excellent post Brad.

Hi, a mate needs a link to the Portugal camp denying this bullshit article. Where did you guys hear this?

I think he'll stay, by the way.

Edit: I'm talking about this:

"Portugal Press Officer confirms that no interview has been conducted."

;)

I really needs it, it's for the official Norwegian Manchester United fanzite.

So, you are implying that he doesn't deserve the respect from us? After all the things he has done for us the last 5 seasons to help us win the trophies and being one of best footballers on the planet atm, you still decide to talk about him like he is trash?

It's not like he's done it out of the goodness of his fecking heart, has he? He's been given Millions of Pounds a year to do it, and had tens of thousands of people sing his name every week. Why's he deserving of respect for that?

If (I would underline and make bold the word if, if i knew how) Ronaldo's comments are true, United need to show strength, there are two ways i can see...

I) name their price (massive price) and tell Real to close the deal before Saturday or not at all
II) Tell Ronaldo he's not going anywhere at any price.

Personally i think we have to go with Option 1, I don't want a player in the team who doesn't want to be here, and if we wait til next season or the season after then we'll all know its coming and Utd will not be able to demand as much for him as they could now.

This is really bizarre logic. By signing a long-term contract, thus ensuring the club gets a massive sum if/when he leaves - as opposed to letting his contract run down and doing a Flamini - he is somehow fecking us over? WTF?

His comments to the press have been sly, one moment telling the supporters he loves the club and will stay, the next indicating he has to mull over for a few days before making 'a decision', and that he doesn't know where he will be.

Again. WTF? He is clearly mulling something over and he's said almost nothing to the press as a result. The whole "I stay" comments indicate he is very seriously thinking about staying at United. If he is thinking about signing for Real, it's obviously a very difficult decision. Not sure how else he could have handled it really.

He's not a fecking indentured slave. If he wants to leave - for whatever personal reasons he might have - he can leave if he's 20 or 30 years old, whenever he wants. This whole thing about him somehow owing the club is ridiculous. He cost us 12 million quid, if he does leave he will leave us with 10s of millions of pounds profit, 2 PL trophies including a historic double. What more do you want? Blood?

Admit it, you're pissed off that anyone could prefer playing for Real Madrid to playing for MUFC. We all are. Especially when it's an unbeleivably good footballer, with his best years ahead of him. But all this stuff about him somehow behaving "without dignity" is a crock of shit.

Fantastic post again, Pogue.

Now spastics, where did you find this Portugal press officer stuff?

I really don't get this whole "we shouldn't show him any respect bit". It looks like this Terra could be a load of bollocks, so far all Ronaldo has really said is "one day I will play in Spain". Outside of that all I can think of that sounds like him being a cnut is shit made up by Marca and the like. So, to say he's a cnut is horribly mistaken as he hasn't really done anything wrong. We're just assuming based on articles. Sure he hasn't come out and spoke against these articles, but I'm sure by now he's sick of talking about it. Either I'm mistaken or the people calling for his head are.

Real Madrid are disgusting. They are behind Terra Networks, Marca, etc. Its shameful how they think they can get away with this. Ronaldo needs to speak for himself and put this speculation to bed immediately.

Assuming he wants to leave, it's clear United don't want to sell. This was never gonna be sealed with a fecking handshake and smiles all round.

In your opinion how, exactly, could it have been handled any better?

The reason most supporters are angry at him is NOT because he wants to go to Madrid or his desire to play elsewhere..
It's the WAY he has gone about it..
If he had just done what was the right thing, told the supporters he wants to leave in a dignified manner, we'd all be fine with it. But it's his behaviour over the past few weeks which has been annoying.

Minutes after the CL Final to ITV on Camera he says after being asked " Surely you're not going to leave now?"
" No NO, I stay"
Then a few minutes later when he's asked by the BBC on Camera "I don't know if I stay, I don't even make my mother any promises"

Then later " I stay definitely" after which " I don't know the future" when asked about next season

AGAIN..these are not manufactured quotes by some tabloids, but actual footage we've all seen and heard.

The worst part about all of this is it seems like we were always going to be a stepping stone for him to join Madrid...Even after all the support we've given him. From the time he was public enemy no.1 in England, to when he was called a diver, it was the club and the supporters who backed him, and this is how he repays back us.

Anyone remember this?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/5120332.stm

And this was when he wasn't the best player in the world....

AGAIN...THERE IS NOTHING WRONG In wanting to play elsewhere..

It's THE WAY HE"S GONE ABOUT IT WITH THE CLUB.

" I stay" " I don't know if I stay" "Yes, I stay " I can't promise"

And I swear if anyone starts the whole "how reliable those quotes are" rubbish one more time I'll fecking hang myself..Cause these are all interviews on ITV/SKY/BBC we've all seen.

If this is on, Sir Alex and Gill have got to make their minds up pretty sharpish.

If we are willing to deal then we should dicate our terms to Madrid and call their bluff, we can't wait till the beginning July for Ronaldo to get round to a decision.

Of course this is all behind the scenes stuff, and i trust those two to know how to handle the matter, as reluctant and bitter as they may be about it.

About time we took the lead here, enough of the tail wagging the dog so to speak.

Do we actually know if he did support Real Madrid as a boy, or is it that he just prefers La Liga? Real Madrid may not be his dream club, that is just people's assumption.

I did say that the fact he is a bit of a cnut hasn't ever really made an impact on what my opinion of him is, I'm grateful and I always will be. The fact is if he is not looking for a new contract then he is toying with us in the media. That is clear for everyone to see.

I'll wish him well but I can see why people may turn their back on him.

United will choose option (1), then latre after the Euro Comp SAF will tell him to say that he loves United and he will stay for more and more years and all that has been said was rubbish and lies. Then all you feckers will buy it and forget about all this.

but he'll leave in January after SAF through a boot to his face.

Pretty fecking obvious that if he does leave it hasn't been an easy decision and he's come very close to deciding to stay.

Would you rather he never had any doubt?

Do we actually know if he did support Real Madrid as a boy, or is it that he just prefers La Liga? Real Madrid may not be his dream club, that is just people's assumption.

His mum and godfather have both given interviews saying Madrid was always their favourite club. Chances are he would have been influenced by that as a lad.

And Ron's mum says:
"He's happy where he is."
and that while "only God knows the future", she thinks he's staying at United.

"He is well where is. The future to God belongs, but is correctly that he is going to continue in Manchester", explained Dolores Aveiro, in a statement that, in principle, should signify the end of a long period of speculation.

I'd rather he gave the club a clear indication of his plans and his intentions..
This will he won't he just adds to the uncertainty around the dressing room and club..

Plus it's much easier for us to know our transfer targets and who we should be aiming to bring in if we know if the boy wants to stay or leave...

Sad to see that it is HIM who will probably decide if he wants to stay or leave even though he's got a contract with us, but I know none of us want him here if his heart isn't at the club and I'm not going to hold THAT against him..

It's just the way he's gone about it.

Not to have said that he was staying on live TV after we won the CL, only to backtrack about an hour later.

Not accepting a Real Madrid poster as a present from a Spanish journo in a Portugal news conference in Switzerland.

Being straight with the club, Fergie if not the supporters.

Things like that, not a mountain to climb IMO.

Parent and Child seem to have a strong relationship with God.
