BBC Sport today sent a special investigative team to Cristiano Ronaldo's family home in Portugal, to try and discover the truth to the rumours that have surrounded both him and his club Manchester United in recent days.
His pet goldfish, also named Cristiano, had this to say to our correspondent.
"He is really happy in Manchester, he plans to stay at the club a long time."
3 seconds later...
"His dream is to play for Real Madrid and he told me only the other day that he will be trying to arrange a transfer this summer. He wants to ecome a true great.....err what was i saying?"

Ronaldo should know very well who has made him the player he is today. It takes a bit of common decency to show respect and loyalty when it is required. Besides why would you take a so called step down when this team is clearly heading for even greater things in the near future?
So, you are implying that he doesn't deserve the respect from us? After all the things he has done for us the last 5 seasons to help us win the trophies and being one of best footballers on the planet atm, you still decide to talk about him like he is trash?

Ronaldo has hardly shown respect to us in the last few weeks, and if he leaves then people have every right to call him a cnut because that is what he is. Doesn't stop me from supporting him but there is reason to turn your back on him.

This is the type of stuff that confuses me. People talking about being somehow disrespected.
He's a professional footballer who's been at this club for 5 years and has been a huge factor in amazing recent success. Now he may (or may) not be angling for a new challenge, playing for the team he supported as a boy, the same team his cancer-afflicted old dear wants him to play for before she dies. How the feck has that shown any "disrespect" to any of us cnuts?
Some of the whining in this thread reminds me of someone who's been dumped and resorts to a character assasination of their ex, just to make themselves feel better about being rejected. All a bit silly really.
If he leaves in the summer, good luck to him (but not Madrid, I fuuuuucking hate Madrid) it's been a pleasure to watch him play for United and we'll move on and cope with the loss of a really special player. We always do.

If (I would underline and make bold the word if, if i knew how) Ronaldo's comments are true, United need to show strength, there are two ways i can see...
I) name their price (massive price) and tell Real to close the deal before Saturday or not at all
II) Tell Ronaldo he's not going anywhere at any price.
Personally i think we have to go with Option 1, I don't want a player in the team who doesn't want to be here, and if we wait til next season or the season after then we'll all know its coming and Utd will not be able to demand as much for him as they could now.
