Can you imagine the other Real players sitting back and accepting him earning that much more than them? It will cost them a fortune in wage increases and to be honest I'm very doubtful even Real could fund that deal.

Does anyone actually know anything about the murky way in which this pox of a football club seem to be able to come up with a bottomless pit of money and never seem to get into financial trouble? If it's Madrid municipality or Spanish government it surely defies UEFA or indeed FIFA rules, and yet no-one even discusses it. United are far wealthier and have greater income than RM and we wouldn't even dream of mentioning such ludicrously inflated sums as £300k per week.

I think we should be told!

why can't that cnut just said if he is staying or not now in public.

And I hate Marca.

I would bet any money some of the united players have called him and asked him and know the answer. I'm pretty sure the club know as well and would like to kill the speculation

Ronaldo is probably having a laugh. If he ain't?....boy, someones gonna get called names...:p

Because:

a)He wants a move but things are goining on behind the scenes and he doesn't want to burn his bridges

or

b)He wants a new contract and coming out and saying "I love it at United, I want to stay forever" Isn't a great negotiating position.

or

c)He's a fecking flirt and loves the attention.

or

d) burning his bridges at United and publically insisting on a move to Real will weaken his hand in contract negotiations - with Real Madrid.

I'm going for C. I don't think he has a preference. I would disagree with anyone that said he doesn't want to go back to united because I believe he does love the club - he's just got a funny way of showing it (i reckon).

I think, he'll leave it up to the clubs personally. At the end of the day if I was ronaldo i'd want madrid to just make an offer, otherwise it's all talk.

We know what Ronaldos like. He does love the attention. He probably uploaded half the videos of himself on youtube lol.

He's an arrogant, young lad who understand his appeal on and off the pitch. He loves the media attention and he knows what he's doing by keeping quiet about the whole thing except for a few quotes which can be easily taken out of context - in fact I don't even know if the quotes we see on these bullshit websites are real!

I do think that he's already told the club he's staying though and that he's waiting on a new contract, which is ridiculous for somebody earning that much money. I would eat nothing but shit 9-5, 5 days a week if I earnt half of what he earnt in a week. I also think the 2-3 week statements were because he's hoping for a contract and I'm sure he's been in touch with the club about it. It takes weeks to come to settle on a contract, it does with every player. The reason for the wait may also be the fact we're trying to seal transfers quickly and giving Ronaldo a new contract isn't a priority at the moment as he's still contracted for another 3/4 years.

It's disrespectful to Manchester United and I love the club a hell of a lot more than I like Ronaldo. Like many people have said, he can be replaced. We've replaced many great players in the past, including players arguably better than him.

However, at the moment I think people should lay off him until something comes from the horse's mouth in the coming days/weeks. You know fine well if this had happened mid-season when he was scoring for fun you'd be defending him.

P.S. Please for the love of Jesus H Christ can you stop getting wound up at fecking rehashed news articles with stories from a close insider. Really, grown men falling for bullshit journalism is ridiculous. Newspapers are all copying stories from each other.

P.P.S That's the longest post I've ever posted I reckon :D

Tis a very good one and all.

1. Messi would rather play in italy, Inter and Moratti have been after his signature for a couple of years now and there's a strong Argentine presence at Inter.

2. Barca won't sell their best player!

3. Even if they sell Messi, they'd only do so if they can bring in a good enough replacement. Why do you think we don't want to get rid of Ronaldo? because he's irreplaceable. If Madrid get Ronaldo, they're happy. If we get Messi, we're happy, If Barca sell Messi and don't get a player of similar quality, they wouldn't be so happy.

Nah, not convincing enough. If Barca were offered @50 mill. they'd be interested, alright. Who wouldn't? Messi's a big boy, now, and Carlitos has done alright with us. Not convinced. I don't buy these prima donnas have that much of a say, anyway.(not that Messi appears to be one) As I say, I can dream, but it won't happen because the bastard won't go, unfortunately. It'd be bleedin' good business if he did and I'd prefer it.

I'd rather have Ronaldo instead of 50 mill, and I'm sure Barca would as well re Messi. if you think barca would just sell because it's 50 mil, then I guess you believe we would just sell as well if it's 50 mill offered for Ronaldo regardless of whether or not we can buy messi.

I don't want messi tbh. I'd rather keep Ronaldo. We are a young team and we need stability more than anything. Besides, not only is Ronnie a superior player to Messi, he is more suited to our system.

plus messi is injured for big chunks of a season... but if there's one player that can replace Ronaldo in terms of quality as much as possible it's the Argentine. However, it won't happen so it's kind of useless speculating on it.

Which is what everyone does, regardless.

If we don't put in an offer for Messi, I reckon I'll personally fax them a bid(my car+house+my letf testicle and whatever's in my bank). That said, I reckon United have probably inquired in the past, clubs always do.

yeah, I'm sure we'd at least inquire about him if Ronaldo does leave and I'll send a personal bid as well (offering anything I got!) but I just can't see it happening. However, I'm sure we'll move on if he does leave and who knows, perhaps nani and anderson would turn out that good, plus I'm sure there's a lot more to come from Rooney as well.

Personally i think Ribery would be a great option if Ronaldo leaves and he'll certainly be tempted by a move to here, but then again I don't think Ronnie's leaving. he'll be here at least until Fergie goes, or so I'd like to think :D

Whether Messi likes it or not, he isn't Ronaldo. He isn't quite worth as much and neither does he have the marketing value atm. though I dare say we can build him up for it. Don't forget, I'm talking about him AND Huntelaar for the price of Ronaldo. Whether Laporta would sell depends on what they feel they can get with £50 mill. Every manager must have contingencies for a decent price. Fergie has and how do we know we're not just holding out for a massive price? we don't, it's all conjecture. That's effected by whether you could use the money or not and Laporta certainly could with the new elections coming up. Nah, still not convinced.

I take the point about Messi's injuries, though, given our experience with Saha and Hargreaves. I'd still prefer it.

Was abroad, and had no access to the game. I listened to the match via my mobile phone, though.

he had at least as good a game against us as messi did in the semi-finals, gave rio and vidic all sorts of problems despite playing as a lone striker and being isolated for much of the game.

the crux of the matter, if they could replace Messi with 50 mil, I'm sure they'd have listened to Moratti's offers, but Barca would have none of it. His value to Barca has increased even more now with ronaldinho no longer the player he was and messi being their best player. what's especially important is that Messi's only 20! 3 years younger than Ronaldo and will only get better!

Why is it that we can never enjoy being Champions of Europe for long? Last time it was Fergie announcing his retirement. Now its this Ronaldo farce.

What I don't understand is why people are getting so wound up about this? Almost everyone is reacting to the headlines when in actual fact the quotes were the same as a month ago.

And people saying, "It'll never be the same." Get a grip. Stop acting like teenage girls. If he leaves, United will go on. If he stays, he'll score 60 goals next season and we'll all have our cocks out.

This is what I mean. Just relax. Whatever happens we're still Champions of Europe.

Yep, heard the same by a few people.

Ibrahimovic hardly gets a mention, I think he'd be a huge success at OT.

And I've got this warm feeling inside that even if he does go Nani and Anderson are going to be truly shit hot next year.

I'm not too worried about Ronaldo, we've got a great side. . .and the right manager, regardless of what happens in the next couple of weeks, plus if he does leave I'm sure Fergie'll buy the right player(s) to replace him. And yeah, still loving our EC victory, which is probably the reason why I'm so relaxed over the matter.

Don't know for certain but don't think Moratti offered anywhere near 50. Timings all important here and it's a fair time. But, as said, it won't happen because Roanaldo won't go.

Surprise of the day, Real player talks about Ronaldo.

Raul backs Real Madrid bid for Man Utd's Ronaldo
tribalfootball.com - June 05, 2008

Real Madrid captain Raul has given president Ramon Calderon the thumbs up over his pursuit of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo - though with a warning.

AS says Calderon made Raul aware of their push for Ronaldo immediately after celebrating back-to-back championships last season, with the president declaring: "We will try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and I would like to know your opinion as leader of the dressing room."

Raul replied: "President, at this moment he is the No1 in the world. Anything that can improve the team is good and he can make us grow.

"But you cannot afford to experiment. Please, do not ruin the spirit we have."

Moratti's offered massive money but barca have said they wouldn't even consider the sale. don't you think if 50 mil could prize Messi away from barca so easily, why Chelsea haven't ended up with him? don't forget how much Abramavich paid for Shevchenko just because he liked him rather than how good he could be for Chelsea, surely the renties would've ended up with the likes of Ronaldinho and Messi if 50 mil could do the trick that easily...

Jesus, that's a contradictory response. Basically he is saying sign him but if you pay him too much we will throw a paddy!

It's constructed of the purest bullshit.

I don't reckon Raul speaks like a character from a Dostoyevski novel some how.

"President, I beseach you, consider our honour. Your intent is true and the club shall indeed flourish with this young player of which we speak.

Yet I fear that as the club grows so too will the unease amongst my comrades. Tread softly President."
