Good article. He's hit the nail on the head multiple times there.

Ronaldo Decision Made A Month Ago?

Careful reading of the exclusive interview, published on Wednesday night, in which Cristiano Ronaldo announced his decision to stay at Manchester United indicates that both the interview and decision were made up to a month ago.

At the start of the interview, conducted with Bruno Prata of the Portuguese newspaper Publico, Ronaldo is quoted as saying: "My coach was kind enough to come and see me in Lisbon a few days ago, which I think is common knowledge."

In fact, although the exact date is not known, it is understood that Ferguson met with Ronaldo during the second week of July - something which the Scot acknowledged in his response to Ronaldo's announcement when he remarked, "We knew this would be the case because I flew to Portugal some weeks ago and we cleared the air."

That Ronaldo, who made no secret of his wish to join Real Madrid, apparently confirmed he would stay at Old Trafford for another season just "a few days" after meeting Ferguson indicates that the u-turn was forced upon him by United's refusal to sell.

The delay in announcing the decision is curious but has an obvious explanation for those of a cynical mind. Releasing the interview during the week in which the forward is due to return to England would apparently signal the start of a choreographed attempt by the Ronaldo camp to win back the hearts and minds of the United supporters who have turned against their former hero in the wake of his attempts to wrangle a move out of Old Trafford.

The hitherto unknown Prata should not have required much persuading in agreeing to delay the publication of his exclusive interview: he is the husband of Manuela Brandao, an employee of Jorge Mendes, the agent of Ronaldo.

Who knows ronaldo is taking us for a ride again..

For once, Cuntis is actually writing what fans thinks.

He might be but it is still a rubbish article .......... take the cash, what cash??? none was ever offered!!! or was ever going to be unless Ronaldo came cheap.
For all the poor actions of Ronaldo he could have acted a lot worse and got his way eventually with United receiving nothing like his true value. As for cuntis he was one of the many crap reporters helping feed the media frenzy with distortions and half truths.

Neil Custis as the voice of United fans? Sun reporter demonstrates his talent for shooting at sitting ducks?

Exactly the kind of article that makes me go around humming Viva Ronaldo. Another couple of months of that kind of press and a few choruses from Alan Green and I'll probably will be singing Viva Roanldo again (or not - but I won't be singing Viva Neil Custis).

Oh, I can only imagine Alan Green and his commentaries re. Ronaldo this season.

They will be so bitter and fileld with hatred.

It's just a dig at Ronaldo.

You may be right

However a lot of what he says is being thought by many United Fans
So dig or not, its one of his better pieces about a United player
I never thought I would be saying that about an article written by him
maybe he was busy and the Tea boy has done it for him

I'm disappointed in the whole saga of events, but all the while he wears a United shirt he gets my support, as long as he doesn't wear "those shorts"

same here

Ronaldo - helped us win the league 2 years in a row, top scorer last season, helped us win the CL, i know it was a team effort, but ronaldo played a BIG part! I will always respect him for that, obviously the likes of scholes, giggs, neville are in another class in terms of respect, but they're a different story, they're fans of the club, born and bred in manchester (ok not giggs but you know what i mean). Its different for Ronaldo. Yes he didnt handle the transfer situation very well, but i mean FFS, some people here almost want to lynch him!

Get over yourselves you self-righteous cnuts, the situation is over now, atleast for another year, stop all this ronaldo bashing, and look forward to the coming season.

I Think it's the first time I've actually agreed with Cuntis.

Spot on.

Hope the article gets stuck on Ronaldo's locker so he doesn't miss it.

Think how much money United and Ronaldo must have got from this. They were practically on the back of the newspapers every day. You could have started a paper called the daily Ronaldo

I think this was ghost-written. Probably find that Custis is on holiday or something and they/ve got a sub-editor to write it under Custis' byeline - it certainly doesn't seem to be his style.

But I think thats classy. He came out fully and went for it like a man. Unlike our slimeball cnut who has no balls.

His lack of balls, as you call it, means United will get his services for another year, at least, and get full value if they decide to sell after that.

I heard him sprouting the same rubbish on the radio with irritating voice of his.

He only lets players go if he thinks it is best for the club.

And he has kept you only because he thinks it is best for the club.

Not for him or you — but the club.

Privately he probably wants to stick you in the stand.

He is spot on with this

He'll probably stick it on his toilet door where it belongs.

Yes but I doubt he'll be quite as focussed as the last two seasons. What has happened will have affected his attitude and his game. What is clear and cannot be dismissed is that his heart is elsewhere.

What a pity SAF has wasted all this time and effort - and very likely spurned the chances of more silverware - by acting as he has, when all he had to do was ask you and he'd have been in the picture.

You're insights are truly wasted here on the outside.

Oh wait..

Exactly.

Any enemy of Cuntis or Green is a friend of mine an' all that.

That article is spot on, but I guess it depends a lot on how the match-going fans react. If they decide to give him stick(most likely the case), then so be it. Despite what the ronaldo apologists like to think, he acted like a cnut and deserves whatever he gets from the fans. Fans > Players

Sounds like he's angry and bitter that Ronaldo is staying.

So Ronnie fecked up this summer, but its all sorted now.

I'm interested in whether Ronnie knew that Madrid had not made any offer for him, or whether he was just beliving the lies in the spanish press about Madrid offering 60/70/80/90/100 million.

The whole article ignores the fact that Real played their cards almost to perfection. They knew that Ronnie would love to play for them one day, and they pulled out almost all the stops to make it happen - including roping in support from the FIFA President.

I'm not saying Ronaldo couldn't have handled it better, but given all the circumstances surrounding this, it's easy to see how he might have been swayed. He's not a United fan, and has never pretended to be. He's a bloody talented footballer who loves to played football, and loves to win. So long as he is doing it for us, he'll get my support.
