Thats your opinion and its clearly up to you what you do, me I think Utd will benefit far more by offering him support and a comfortable environment for him to work in. It certainly doesn't make any of those fans who show him support when he pulls on our shirt not to have the club at heart.

I reckon the fans should sing the name of the player who gives the assist whenever Ronaldo scores. This would create a comfortable environment for players who pass assists.

RONALDO TALK OF THE SUMMER - RIO

Rio Ferdinand admits the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer circus has overshadowed what should have been a summer spent basking in the glory of Manchester United's double-winning season.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson appeared to put an end to the protracted affair this week when he insisted the 23-year-old winger will stay at Old Trafford, after weeks of doubt over whether he would get his "dream" move to Real Madrid.

Ferdinand, captain in Gary Neville's absence last season, is disappointed that the gloss has been taken off United's captures of the Barclays Premier League and Champions League titles.

But he insists Ronaldo will be welcomed back into the dressing room when he recovers from recent ankle surgery.

"This summer, given the season we've just had, should have been a time to think about our achievements," Ferdinand said.

"In the end that became impossible because of the stuff going on with Cristiano."

He added: "The players can't wait to see him back. There won't be any problems between Cristiano and the rest of the squad because we have always stood by what Sir Alex Ferguson has said all along - Cristiano will be a United player next season.

"Cristiano is a great guy. He never has any problems with anyone in the squad and I'm sure that will be the same when he comes back through the door."

Exactly what i've said in my post, we should have spent this summer talking(rightly or wrongly) about how ever player in europe must be queing up to join a club that plays football like we do and still went on to win the european cup.
Instead we've spent it talking not about who wants to play for us but instead who doesn't want to play for us.
Thats something I blame solely on Cristiano Ronaldo.

We've supported him for 5 feckin years. his WC incident with rooney, then with Ruud and some of us calling him a one trick pony; there were supporters, his manager and his team with him.

But look at what he did recently. Even tried to get Blattercunt's supprt by baking hos comments about slavery.

Nah, he's gone too far for too long to dismiss it as mere posturing for more cash.

He may get more cash, but he wants out alright.

I thought it was about he cash initially, but it clearly isn't the case. I said earlier that burning his bridges wouldn't make any sense in the quest for more money. Yeah he wants out, but there's not much else he can do other than hand in a transfer request, but that'll cost him financially. He even agreed with Blatter. . .if that wasn't enough proof, then I don't know what is.

Well said Rio! FFS we're the best club in England and Europe, won the double and have one of the best squads ever! A fantastic back four, a brilliant midfield and a strikeforce with two bullterriers managed by the best manager, but feck, all is written and said is about a little fecking slave...

TBF, I think the comments re Blatter were misinterpreted, as he most likely agreed that players should have more power and should move if they want, and not that they're treated like slaves. And Blatter hardly meant that Ronaldo is a slave but other players who get moved around and treated badly by clubs. Nevertheless, both are cnuts

Another version of Rio's comments, I'll post some of the new bits. http://www.people.co.uk/sport/footb...objectid=20656098&siteid=93463-name_page.html

"To be honest you just try and concentrate on what's going to be good for the club. After the season we just had I suppose the summer was a time to think about what a good season it was and prepare for the next one - but there has been a stutter in that because of the stuff with Cristiano.

"For most players it's flattering when someone else wants you and are prepared to go to great lengths to get you. But at the end of the day he's a Man United player, he's not a silly boy and he understands he's signed for United.

"Until the club deem it's time for him to go he will remain a Man United player.

"It's simple - it's down to the club. The manager has made his comments and that's the position.

"But my feeling is the same as it's been all along - he'll be here next season and I hope he is.

"I think we'll see him back when he's recovered from his injury, and he'll be working as hard as ever to get back in the team.

"And when he's back the best thing will be to let him speak about what has happened, no-one else. He's the one who will have the answers to everyone's questions, not just the media's but the fans too."

Well, he agreed. But the whole episode was scripted. Blatter makes a few silly comments, Ronaldo comes out and agrees with them. Blatter isn't exactly Mr Clean is he? He was acting on the behalf of Real Madrid. Ronaldo could've easily said 'no comment', and have been as ambiguous as he's been all summer. . .but he wasn't.

Club > any player.

Difference whether he agree that players should be free to move clubs or are like slaves. But not the first time Ronaldo showed that he's a classless, self-loving arrogant person
I agree on Blatter. He's a lot on TV over here and only talks utter shit, shame the Swiss media is very biased towards him

EXCLUSIVE by AIDAN MAGEE

SIMON JORDAN today delivers the most damning verdict ever on the crumbling state of the beautiful game.

In an explosive, no-holds barred exclusive interview, the controversial Crystal Palace chairman fires both barrels at Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Coleen Rooney, Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini, greedy agents and even long-suffering football fans.

Jordan has finally decided to walk out on football as the game descends into a bickering war over players’ inflated contracts, lack of loyalty, greed, corruption and arrogance — culminating in Manchester United superstar Ronaldo’s absurd claim that he is being treated 'like a slave'.

As the angry 40-year-old multi-millionaire businessman prepared to sell his Championship club to the highest bidder, he:

BRANDED Ronaldo a 'silly little boy' who should be made to do as he’s told.

INSISTED Chelsea star Lampard is not worth £150,000 a week.

ACCUSED FIFA president Sepp Blatter of being a 'bloody idiot'.

BLASTED UEFA chief Michel Platini’s incredible arrogance.

SLAUGHTERED Wayne Rooney’s showbiz WAG Coleen McLoughlin’s image as a role model, claiming she is just a plain little girl from Liverpool.

VILIFIED soccer agents as being 'nasty, evil, pointless scum'.

“The reality is that football is a bulls*** world - an insidious, insipid, egotistical, greedy, self-motivated game,” stormed Jordan.

“And the problem is that NOBODY is going to change that.

Wrong

“You read on the front pages of newspapers about people unable to sell their homes and heading for the bread line - but you read on the back pages about footballers turning down £150,000-a-week offers!

“If you get 60,000 people singing your name every week, you lose touch with reality.

“Footballers live on an island called ‘Football World’ where everything they do is right and everything that is said about them is wrong.”

Ronaldo has infuriated Jordan with his constant hankering to quit Old Trafford and sign for Real Madrid — despite still having four years left on his Old Trafford contract.

And Jordan declared: “The Ronaldo thing is about the fact he wants to go to Spain.

“But I’m sorry, little boy, you signed a five-year contract and you’re going to do as you’re told.

“He can sulk and pout and sit there with his earplugs in, looking pretty, for as long as he wants.

“But if he’s not playing first team football for United, he’s going nowhere - so he’ll pretty soon come in line, get back in the team and will be doing as he’s told.”

FIFA chief Blatter - the most powerful football man on the planet — infuriated Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting United were treating £120,000-a-week Ronaldo like a slave, an incredible comment which the Portuguese winker agreed with.

And Jordan added: “One thing that should change is the football establishment’s attitude towards footballers.

Arrogant

“If Sepp Blatter said what he said then he’s a bloody fool.”

Jordan is also disgusted that Chelsea’s England midfield star Lampard, 30, is continuing to hold out for a mammoth £150,000-a-week deal at Chelsea.

“There is not a footballer or any kind of sportsman on the planet worth £150,000-a-week,” he said. “I can tell you a few surgeons who are - but no sportsman.

“The more I watch this ‘Planet Football’ and see the back pages dominate the front pages and people like Coleen McLoughlin - who is just a plain little girl from Liverpool - set up as role models, I think to myself: ‘What the hell is going on?’

“Michel Platini is going in front of the European Union to identify six sports which should have a special exclusion from human rights.

“But I look at it as another example of how arrogant football is - that it thinks it is above everything else.

“It thinks it’s above every other worker and industry in the world - because it’s football.

“When I leave football you will never see me involved in another club.

Nutter

“The moment the door of Selhurst Park hits me on the a***, I will not be coming back.”

Jordan admits being disillusioned with the game even before he was pushed over the edge by an FA tribunal’s decision to award Palace just £700,000 compensation for youth player John Bostock following his controversial transfer to Tottenham last month.

Jordan has become one of the most outspoken personalities in football since buying Palace out of administration eight years ago at the age of 32, which made him the youngest chairman in the Football League.

He made around £40m after selling his firm The Pocket Phone Shop to the Carphone Warehouse and immediately pledged to have the South London club back in the Premier League within five years.

But it did not take long for him to grow tired of the way football is run.

He directed plenty of his venom at players’ agents, who he believes are responsible for many of the ills of the modern game.

With Jordan now spending most of his time at his villa in Marbella, the Palace chairman leaves all transfer negotiations to chief executive Phil Alexander and director Kevin Watts.

“Agents are nasty scum,” he said. “They’re evil and divisive and pointless.

“They only survive because the rest of the sport is so corrupt and because leading football club people employ their sons in the job.

Power

“In my opinion, no owner in their right mind would willingly invite an average agent into his academy, any more than a brothel owner would let a syphilitic nutter into his whorehouse.

“If an agent does a good job for me then I will pay him - but I don’t deal with players’ agents or agents employed by other clubs.”

But, amazingly, Jordan also took a pop at the long-suffering fans who have to dip further into their deep pockets every time a player agrees a new contract.

He insists the fans’ expectations increase the pressure on clubs to go after the best players and that in turn, hands all the power to the men in the dressing room.

“The public keep on chanting players’ names and wanting better players,” he said.

“The only time they’ve had enough is when the players play badly.

“Fans wonder why they have to pay £50 for a kit for their son - but the price is that because they’ve been clamouring for their better players.”

RONALDO: FUTURE STILL UNDECIDED

Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to confirm Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's claim that the winger will remain at Old Trafford.

Ferguson met Real Madrid target Ronaldo for clear-the-air talks on Monday and insisted on Friday that there was no chance he would be quitting United for Spain.

But Ronaldo - who is on holiday in America as he recovers from ankle surgery - claims he has still to make a firm decision on his future.

"I've had hundreds of questions about Manchester United and Real Madrid," he told ESPN. "What do you want me to say? That I'm going or I'm staying?

"I don't know about the future, only God knows it. I can't say any more.

"Great players are always hounded by great clubs. It's a normal situation. There are other great players who are in the market who are good and who other clubs want.

"I have always been hounded, not only this year. It's not strange for me, to see what happens."

Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Ronaldo massive wages, while United chief executive David Gill is adamant he will not receive a pay rise should he stay at United.

But Ronaldo, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford 18 months ago, claims any decision on his future will not be based on money.

"I want to be happy regardless of where I play," he added. "I can be happy everywhere, if I am with people I like, if I am animated, motivated.

"Am I motivated to continue at United? I am always motivated.

"I am ambitious and I want to always improve. I don't know the future, but I will be motivated."

Ronaldo will be out for three months as he recovers from the operation.

And the winger claimed he just wants to concentrate on getting back to full fitness as quickly as possible.

"I'm not anxious about the future, I'm feeling normal," continued Ronaldo. "Normal is resting my head, my body, having a good recovery and the future belongs to God, not to me."

This would effect Ronaldo's performance imo. Plus its just like Ronaldo coming out and saying he isn't going to give 100% because he wants to move. Now I want to make it clear I think ronaldo has been very stupid and disrespectful of the club over the summer but imo we should be getting behind all our players because that helps the team (which will in all probability include Ronaldo) Our fans have always got behind the players in adversity, its one of the things that makes the club so special. After the last world cup Ronaldo said some very simular things to this summer but we still got behind him and look what it got us. We want to make the club as attractive as possible to the best players and if they see us treating Ronaldo badly this reflects on us and effects possible future player choices.

Precisely, as much i despise Ronaldo for how he has treated this situation and our club, he is still a Manchester United player and taunting and jeering him will do us no favours in the long run.

He may not get the same warmth from the crowd, but i hope we will continue to support any player who puts on the red shirt.

We want to make the club as attractive as possible to the best players and if they see us treating Ronaldo badly this reflects on us and effects possible future player choices.

Or, alternatively this type of thinking could encourage future shoddy behaviour from footballers.

Once again he's shown disrespect to the club and to SAF in particular with his latest comments.

Friday SAF: "He's staying, end of story"
Saturday Ronaldo: "I know nothing, only God knows the future"

I know they are not exact quotes but you get the gist.

Its about time Ronaldo started showing those that have supported him for so long some respect. Stop fecking about lad! You either want to stay or don't.

If Ronaldo's motives were to initiate a pay rise ...

Who thinks he should have one ?

And if so how by much ? (Think he is on around £120K at the momnet)

Exactly! I applaud United for there stance on this. No player is bigger than the club.

Real Madrid are offering him over £200k a week plus his own sponsorship rights!! I don't really think a pay rise from us means anything, that deal is unmatchable and how Ronaldo would say '$$I Dream$$'

He's referring to Sir Alex, mate.:)

Nobody know when the interview was conducted with ronaldo, but i am sure it was not before fergie met ronaldo..

You counter others by saying nobody knows when the actual interview took place - yet you are certain it took place before SAF met Ronaldo.

What makes you so sure?

I have a feeling it actually took place after the meeting with Sir Alex. If it is the ESPN interview I saw it seems like it was done when he was in America, after Sir Alex's meeting with him

:)

Ronaldo: Only god knows the future.

Merely confirming what I believed for years now. Sir Alex IS god.

This recent interview, the quotes are stolen from this thread a few pages back with the video.

You have to be joking. Ronaldo has shown pretty clearly this summer he doesn't give a shit what we supporters think, so I'm sure he'd be able to cope just fine without us chanting his name

There's getting behind a player in adversity, when other supporters are trying to jump on something. It's an entirely different situation when Ronaldo himself is causing the rift with us

Clubs don't come much more attractive than United. I think you're a bit mislead with the balance of how big a player Ronaldo is, and how big a club United are

No, he's not that good.

Any player can do 42 goals, maybe not any, but more than 1 or 2 players can do that.

And to name a few, George Best, RvN, so yeah, make your own believe.

WIll you guys lay off him for a while, unless untill it's confirmed he fecks off to Madrid.

So why didn't he score 42 goals then?

Wait, you may be ironic here? whoosh then..

Of course, he's absolutely immense. One of the most complete attacking players you're likely to see. Finishing, dribbling, shooting, heading, control, pace, strength, height, agility, etc, you name it and he's got it.

Yet despite this, we could definitely manage without him.

His latest comment suggest to me he's being a prick for the sake of being a prick.

"Only god knows"

fecking tart.
