ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

Can't see any player wanting to leave the european champions, I stick by what I have said already in previous threads if we keep winning there is no need for Ronaldo to leave. He obviously wants to be the best player in the world for a long period of time and to do that the easiest way is too play for a team that is successful in europe. If we go on a dominate run in europe, which is possible, he would be mad to leave and it would go against his ambitions as a player.

As to him answer questions to the media he must be sick of it by now he has said numerous times he is happy here. Most interviews you see it goes like this: are you happy at utd? yes. are you going to stay there for your career? no ones knows. Do you one day want to play in Spain? Maybe one day. This says to me he is staying but leaving his options open further down the line to move, which is sensible no one knows what the future holds. To me the bad bits of this are all coming from Spain and its disapointing that they keep trying to push this and to be honest i think the Portugal camp are going to be very annoyed by this which is were this i will decide in two or three days come from, they must want a end to this speculation because it will be effecting their preperations.

don't knock it till you've tried it.

There's got to be an Evra joke in there somewhere.

Without Ronaldo we'd lose our edge. And frankly it'd most likely take 2 world class players to come in and make up for his lost goals/assists/importance to our attack.

Didn't his mother come out with something simular and he just completely dismissed it. They probably want those free holidays to Madrid.

Not concerning his future, but if anyone has the time to translate portuguese

some kind of documentary, at his house.

enjoy...if you understand !

@Brwned You're obviously new to this board and don't know much about Bahama. He is one of the biggest Ronaldo wankers here who claims Ronaldo is better than Maradona. He is an old sod and expects players to be loyal or atleast respectful to the club. You can understand his claims in this thread considering he saw players like Charlton, Giggs and Cantona who were loyal to the club.

lads, lads, lads....Ronaldo will stay. and maybe on improved terms as well. this is much like the situation Milan fans found themselves in with Kaka last season, just a year into his own contract.

btw, those who say 'feck off! - let him leave', i think they doth protest too much.

the raw emotion in this thread, even from otherwise sensible posters, shows me that this is something quite close to everyone's hearts. this has all the potential of embarrassing some folks much like the post WC2006 England-Portugal thread did.

i am calm. we are going through a good moment. in the future, who knows? it is his dream to play in Spain. but sometimes dreams don't come true.

As it's been said before, even if he does sign a new conract, I think his standing with the Majority of United fans has been harmed.

It's like you have a massive fall out with your girlfriend after she's been flirting with another feller. You stay together but's it's not the same, you just don't fully trust or believe her anymore. All she had to say was, no thanks, I'm very happy with boyfriend. End of story

Yes - but whats the difference? Your girl may not flirt at all, yet bam! One day she's off with another bloke, whether there was any sign at all.

Or alternatively, stays with you, but secretly longs for the other bloke. So much so that, on your nights of passion, its actually the other bloke she imagines she's banging.

In both cases, you would want to get rid of her, no? Since she's of course not giving her all to you.

I mean for crying out loud any idiot should even be able to see that Madrid are clearly light years behind us on the pitch anyway so why would Cristiano want to go there right now?

Because, if he went there, they'd be light years ahead of us....

funny enough he said those exact words a couple of weeks ago

i think this whole girlfriend analogy just illustrates my point.

these are professionals we are talking about. the club pays them to play for us. consequently, he is always going to look to see if the grass is greener. he knows he is the 'firm's' top asset, and he's going to look after his own. unpalatable, perhaps, but that's modern football for you.

The most important question is if Ferguson is prepared to lose Ronaldo just yet. I get the impression he is not, and that till he is, the question of him leaving is immaterial. He wont leave till Fergie is ready to have him leave.

Hey, if he goes he goes. Life's like that. All this discussion on here is about him fecking us around. That's what's getting me, Fergie and CQ's knickers in a twist (Don't care about the rest of you).
Just don't feck with us Ronnie. That's all.

Because, if he went there, they'd be light years ahead of us....

i reckon you're buying this galactico bullshit.

one player, no matter how good, doesn't make a difference if you've other weaknesses in your team. even Ronaldinho didn't really start working miracles until Davids was brought in in the 04 January transfer window.

imo, Madrid have a suspect defence, exposed badly by a Roma side we kept at bay fairly comfortably. if they were to dump a massive chunk of change on Ronaldo, that would mean that they wouldn't be able to reinforce the squad in other areas. moreover, if it's a cash-plus-player deal, it would be even worse.

but i'd be more interested in hearing what the other Real players, esp. the Spanish ones, would think of Ronaldo going there, not to mention those whose positions are directly threatened (Robben, Robinho etc). we've heard of that resentment before.

in any case, this is all academic.

He can announce he's leaving if he wants to , but if a buying club doesn't meet our valuation, he's going nowhere.

Doubt we'll give a valuation. We're in the mood to stuff Madrid and their superiority complex once and for all. Unfortunate that Ronaldo's in the crossfire, but if Madrid are trying to f*ck us, we'll f*ck them one way or another, just like Benitez last year over Heinze. Must be something in the water in Spain for them to be so arrogant on all matters football. I'd a soft spot for Spain in the Euros but now I hope they get wiped out.

Its like talking to brick walls ecantona7 ....he is focusing on Euro and will be in negotiations so thats what he means by saying 3-4 weeks but people in here seem to think otherwise ....if he wanted to go he would be gone since the last WC ...why can't you people be patient ...
Hey, this is a discussion. What's with this brick wall shit? If there was no noise coming from OT I wouldn't be too concerned, but......
"Real can go to Hell"
"We'll sit him in the stands"
"The Glazers' got balls"
The Franco references
The Border town references from CQ.

Hey, in case you hadn't noticed, there's a war going on. Those expletives and pronouncements from Fergie and CQ are not normal. In fact I've never seen anything like it.
That's what we're discussing. You're entitled to sit back and ignore it but if you've got any emotion in you for United you'd be concerned.

i agree. Its not the speculation but the reaction of both fergie and carlos thats worrying.

i may be wrong, but tbh, i reckon those quotes from SAF are out of context. he was asked whether the Glazers would be tempted to cash in given our debt situation (remember, some morons in Spain reckoned a week ago that, with SAF proving intractable, Madrid might go over his head and talk to the Glazers in a bid to get them to decide on business and not footballing terms). so he gave them a dramatic answer, and then they twisted it.

as for the other quotations, i reckon i'd be more concerned if the club said or did nothing. sometimes silence, while dignified, can imply complicity.

At the Portugal team press conference a week ago, Ronaldo (having been asked multiple times) made the comment: "Everybody has dreams. Even me. Don't you?"

He then went on to say (responding to Marca's allegation that he'd already signed a pre-contract with Madrid) that he'd done nothing with Real Madrid, that he's under contract to United and that the only talking he's expecting to do is with United - and yes, that there might be more news in a couple of weeks.

Yesterday, after he went off at halftime, he left the ground while the match was still underway to dodge the reporters. It didn't work because some of them had decided to stake out the exit to the carpark. They were the ones who got the comments that ran:
Can we expect news in the coming days over your future?
"I certainly hope so."
When?
'Soon'
Soon when?
"In two or three days, I hope."

Apart from that neither Ronaldo nor Mendes have said anything to the press in the past week, nor have Ron's immediate family. Even the Portuguese players who've been asked about it (including Pepe) say that Ron isn't talking. Scolari is the only person who claims to have talked to him.

You can conclude that he's the cynical (or stupid) ringmaster of a media circus or maybe you could try imagining that at 23 you're being offered the chance to double your money, make your family happy and fulfil a dream.

You can talk about his loyalty and respect for us, but just remember how quick a player who isn't wanted by United can get moved on and consider how respectful some of the remarks being made on here about him and his family actually are.

I thought you were heading toward reassuring us that he was staying, then you drop your shoulder and imply he may well be off...tricky, keep it up for 4 more posts for your 1000

without Ronaldo? (feel free to move to the Ronaldo thread if necessary...)

1. If you took Ronaldo out of the current squad, do you think we would still be favourites to win the league next year? Could we retain the European Cup?

How important is Ronaldo to our success?

2. Assuming we had plenty of cash, is there any realistic transfer target or more than one which we could bring in to make up for losing him?

3. Is there anyone else who we couldn't cope without?

Yes. We could be the best in Europe without Ronaldo. And Ronaldo will not make Real Madrid the best team in Europe.

From the MEN...

Ronaldo set to decide on future

James Robson
1/ 6/2008

CRISTIANO Ronaldo says he will finally end speculation about his future this week.

The Manchester United winger has been the subject of a fevered attempt by Real Madrid to lure him away from Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson insists the 23-year-old will not be allowed to leave at any price, but that has not deterred the Spanish giants from launching a media-driven campaign designed to unsettle him.

Ronadlo is currently preparing for Euro 2008, but says it is time to put all the rumours to bed.

He said: "I hope there will be news soon. In two to three days I will announce my decision."

Ferguson revealed on Sunday that he has the backing of the Glazers to hold on to his star player - even if Real offer as much as £70m.

But even that will not be enough to end speculation linking him with Real so long as the double footballer of the year continues to side step questions about his future.

Saga

With Ronaldo's contract still having four years to run United will feel he has no decision to announce. But should he declare that he has no desire to leave the European champions it will at least draw a line under a saga that is threatening to dominate the summer.

The Portuguese international has continued to be ambiguous about his plans - one minute insisting he is happy at United, but next revealing a lifelong desire to play in Spain.

That has only prompted Real to step up their interest, primarily through the Spanish press.

Last week they finally pushed Unted to breaking point when coach Bernd Schuster gave an interview which alluded to the fact that deal had been all but completed.

United took the unusual step of announcing on their website that they would report Real to world football's governing body, FIFA, unless the Spaniards backed down.

Publicly at least they appear to have done that, but it has done nothing to dampen their resolve to land their man.

Sporting Director Pedrag Mijatovic said: "He is an objective, but we cannot do anything if his club do not want to part with him.

"At this time we do not have anything with the player."

Have to disagree, marcus.

You're right, one player does not make a team. But I would say ronaldo has made that much of a difference to us, that makes us better than madrid at the moment. Move him over there, and they'd have overtaken us.

My thinking is not so much real madrid's weaknesses, but ours. Take away ronaldo from our game and you take away a lot of our cutting edge.

Yes, we could buy a lot of players with the ronaldo money, and madrid may not strengthen their defence. But I'd still say the aggregate effect would tip the scales in madrid's favour.

Ronaldo is not man united and will never be, but he makes that much of a difference. If he does leave i pray we use the money wisely and buy 2-3 players that'll do the job he's done.

Breaking news ssn:

Ronaldo - I'll announce my decision within the next 2-3 days

Absolute bullshit Ronnie, have some loyalty. There should be no 'decison' to fecking make.

Very strange this rumour, thought there was no chance at all and haven't paid any attention to it at all and but you can't seem to shake the rumours off.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/7429756.stm

Thought that was strange as well, why is Fergie even commenting on they would leave him on the bench rather than sell him?

I still don't think he will leave yet, can't see him at your club for longer than 2 more seasons though, a shame really as it would be a great shame to see a talent like him leave.

Got to love CQ at times like this! :smirk: I mean, a portuguese assistant manager at Manchester United fighting with his nails for the course of the club. It's as if he's always been here.

But this media warfare makes me cringe the same way as the Becks-Posh circus. And I must say that I'm getting less and less confident that we'll keep him for much longer

Chelsea don't have Ronaldo, but it didn't stop them from coming within the width of a goalpost of being the best in Europe. So it is possible to be without any given player and still succeed. That always has and always will be the case.

Why don't you fly t Ot and demand answer for SAF ..everything has its time and if you have any guts you will suck it up and brace yourself for whatever happens. He is still under contract and is evasive because he wants a better deal ....what is so hard to understand about that. Why would Ronaldo want to leave a club thats boasting a double. Its simple logic...we arguing and making assumptions based on his misinterpreted quotes won't help. Its a bloody ronaldo circus every damn season. There is always something wrong with him or he is always saying supposedly something he shouldn't all hyped up by the media ...it has to stop becasue the majority of you end up sounding ungrateful
What the fk is that all about!
and next time I fly to OT it will be to see a game.
Ronaldo's fecking with me. So I'll feck with him. Simple. He has a contract. There's nothing to discuss. No decision to be made. All he has to say is feck off Madrid or words to that effect. The ball's been in his court and he's inviting all this speculation and therebye fecking with us.
