ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

He didn't blackmail him into giving him a contract though, he needed to have a contract renewed because it was running down. Ronaldo already has 4 years on his contract so it is more of a reward for his performances than him saying "Give me a new contract or I'm off to Madrid"
Rio asked for a raise. Problem was he had not earned it.

No one had any problems this time when he signed another new contract and got a raise.

He was seen with Kenyon. As I said, it was worse, considering the drugs ban. The man showed no humility at all.

He deserved a better contract than what he was being offered, he proved that with his performances since then. He was asking for a better contract and he won that battle.

And condemned by the supporters for it

A bit like is seemingly starting to happen to Ronaldo now actually. I couldn't give a crap if he's the best player in the world or Cyrille Regis, you don't behave like this

Mainly due to the drugs ban and being seen with Kenyon.

What could Ronaldo have done or said? 'I'm not interested', when in fact he is?? He's clearly loves the attention. . .and is unsure where he wants to play. So it seems.

I would have more respect for him if he didn't come out with shit like "I stay" "We try to do it again next season" when that's not what he wants to do.

I highly doubt Ronaldo would be blackmailing SAF into doing anything, he may be good but SAF would never put up with that.

The best player in the world deserves the best contract in the world, SAF said he is the best player in the world.

I quite agree, I've no problem with Ronaldo saying after the CL final. " I think I've proved my worth to the team and would like a new contract "

Then we leave it to the Club and his agent to thrash something out. No problem , no worries.

It's just the lack of respect for the Club and the Fans that he's shown by acting this way that has got to me. By this I mean all the 2 to 3 weeks shite, and not telling Madrid to feck off.

If it's just for a new contract, all he has to say is, we're working on it and are close to signing.

This is spot on. If he didn't like the attention he could just brush off the reporters or ignore them outright, but for some reason he likes to keep baiting them, maybe even give a cheeky wink or smile. After the WC incident, when the English media turned hostile against him, that's what really made him uneasy and wanting to leave.

He could be interested in private, but retain professionalism with the media

It's not as if Ronaldo is getting different treatment from us here. Supporters across the land, hell the world turn against their own player when they are disloyal. It's not so much about wanting to leave for another club, although that will disgruntle some. More the manner in which that process occurs that leaves the bad blood. That disgruntles the masses

He deserved a better contract???? he was banned for 8 months, and was subsequently paid his salary. He's been brilliant since, but he had a lot to prove.

You know Cristiano has said time and again that he realises that United is the best club for him to be at right now why don't people just be safe in that knowledge instead of believing media bullshit.

I mean for crying out loud any idiot should even be able to see that Madrid are clearly light years behind us on the pitch anyway so why would Cristiano want to go there right now?

He'll still be at Old Trafford next season and you fickle twats who are calling him a cnut we be creaming yourselves over him like you have done for the past 5 years since he put on the red shirt of the first time

Rule 1: Don't exaggerate to get your point across. It ceases to relate to the point you were making, people pick you up on it, and your initial point is lost

Continue...

Point taken.

An example to compare to Ronaldo's current situation:

Kaka was on £120k a week a couple of years back. One year into a contract, interest came from Real Madrid so he signed a new contract worth £144k a week.

And I did not hear or see one AC Milan call him 'greedy' or tell him to 'feck off'. In fact all of them were delighted he decided to stay.

Our fans could take a leaf out of their book.

Even if he net us like £70m?

Although, if he suddenly announced that he's decided to leave in the next two days completely out of the blue, I probably wouldn't cheer him either. If he wants to leave, he should ease it to the fans, not make them wait and then slam the news in their faces..
I don't care about the $ or any new players they can bring. I said mid season that Ronnie was the best player I have ever seen, and I've seen them from Big Dunc right through. Liken it to true love. Like in The Princess Bride. Ronnie's don't come along very often. Maybe once in a generation. None of you on here will see another Ronnie in the next thirty years. If then. To tell the truth if he left us now I'd be really really pissed off.

Rubbish. At that point of time, Rio had gotten himself banned for being stupid which cost us possibly a league title and had the audacity to ask for a raise. Then had a meeting with Kenyon of all people.

Ronaldo on the other hand, has just had one of the best seasons of all time. I always expected him to get a raise this summer.

To be fair, that's Real's fault. They could've done it behind close doors, but it might not have unsettled Ronaldo.

Maybe he hadn't proven it in his recent performances back then, but in terms of his overall ability he was still our best defender and so should have been right up there. Even when he was making mistakes, I still felt the abuse he got was unnecessary, but I see your point.

You know Cristiano has said time and again that he realises that United is the best club for him to be at right now why don't people just be safe in that knowledge instead of believing media bullshit.
But time and time again hes also said he dreams of playing in Spain, that no one knows the future, that Manchester isn't the best place to live etc. He adds these little comments everytime that continues to fuel the speculation.

1) We`d do fine without him I think. No player has ever been better than United and we`ve always managed to replace good players with others, or changed the team somewhat to accomodate the loss.

2) Ferguson will buy a new striker regardless. Another player that could play in a three man front would do. If we had the likes of -Tevez-Berbatov-Rooney or Tevez-Benzema-Rooney then we`d be well off I think. Won`t happen though, but Ronaldo won`t leave either.

3) Short term - Rio. Long term - No one.

If Ronaldo leaves I`m more concerned about the message being sent than what it would do to us on the pitch. A club like United should be able to keep all the players they want. For Anderson and Nani`s sake as well (who I believe have potentially huge careers for us) it`s important that Ronaldo stays.

whats there to announce, just said you want to stay, you ungrateful cnut.

Take it easy bro'. Not much else happening you know. :boring:

Lineups?

Tevez said the same thing, but he is branded as loyal even though he has played for 4 clubs in 5 years.

Didn't Cyrille Regis bag a hattrick at OT once? I bet he blackmailed WBA after that.

I'm glad you're so positive, and not in denial at all

It's not just media bullshit when the player himself is making comments which encourage Madrid. He's clearly making contradictory statements. He's deciding his future in a few days apparently. News to me and you, as you say, what decision does he have to make?! It's perfectly fair that supporters are disgruntled with the behaviour of Madrid and Ronaldo at the moment, we've shown great loyalty to him, and it feels like its being thrown back in our face right now

To be fair, that's Real's fault. They could've done it behind close doors, but it might not have unsettled Ronaldo.

Much of it is their fault. But Cristiano is clearly stoking the speculation with his comments too. Madrid aren't completely to blame for the manner this is playing out

This is EXACTLY why we are moved to show some emotion here. We're not fecking blind. Nor deaf. Nor dumb.

without Ronaldo? (feel free to move to the Ronaldo thread if necessary...)

1. If you took Ronaldo out of the current squad, do you think we would still be favourites to win the league next year? Could we retain the European Cup?

How important is Ronaldo to our success?

2. Assuming we had plenty of cash, is there any realistic transfer target or more than one which we could bring in to make up for losing him?

3. Is there anyone else who we couldn't cope without?

Pros of ronaldo leaving:
It will mean Tevez (after good break) and rooney will really come into their own.
Anderson will be given a far more attacking role.
We may buy Dani Alves and have him play RB while Hargreaves plays RM to cover for Alves' forward runs. Plus they are both very good crossers of the ball.
We will definately bring in a proper CF (not a berbatov type of player) who will bag us 30+ goals and who can make the most of the service he'll get from our left and right flanks.

Cons of ronaldo leaving:
we'd be losing the best player in the world.
He can produce moments of sheer magic out of nothing.
We'd be losing the entertainment factor.
Marketing wise we'd lose money as well.

It doesn't really answer your question but those are my thoughts. Anyway united>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any player

It would just be like Henry leaving Arsenal, but not as extreme. If he leaves, someone will come in in place of him and others will most likely step up a few gears.

You're directing that at Fergie and CQ I take it, cos they seem to be caught up in it too, like I've never seen before.

And no player is bigger than the CLUB.

He's clearly enjoying all the attention he gets. Media whore. Back in some days I used to hate Ronaldo for his useless trickeries. Looks like it all comes back.

You don't have to be loyal to this club. But make yourself clear - Do you stay or not ?

I hope you don't come back and praise him next year if he saves our asses again.

And when she says she'll let you know in a couple of weeks....and then 2 or 3 days....tell me that ain't gonna fk you up.

It's situations like these that makes you truely appreciate the likes of Scholes and Giggs in terms of loyalty and the overall attitude of conducting yourself as a model professional.

At the end of the day, I reckon Ronaldo's just after that improved contract, and I still reckon he'll stay with us until Fergie retires, or there abouts.
