I'm still confused as to what he has to decide

Me too. Thats why I think he will announce that he has signed a new contract. If he decided he was leaving he most probably would have said it, so I think in 3 days he will say "I have signed a new deal".

I'm still confused as to what he has to decide

He'll announce he has just signed a new contract, I hope.

He has the everyone in the media eating right out of his hand, he knows how to play them well.

We won the treble without Ronaldo.

He's fantastic but not irreplacable. He also has his fair share of faults, although his goalscoring record has managed to cover them up so far.

To be honest, he did already say after the final he would make his decision after 2 weeks. And it's going to be 2 weeks in 2-3 days.

The point is, theres no decision for him to make, He's paid good money and has 4 years left on his contract.

He's the one who needs to be fair. Honnor your fecking contract you greedy ungreatful crunt.

I wouldn't put it past him to say something like "I have decided I want to move to Real Madrid this summer and will try to make it happen."

Have I missed something here? Been busy and all, but what exactly has changed for this major shift in opinion on here? Sensible posters too, not the muppets and 12 year olds.

I'm not concerned. United (or should I say Ferguson) don't lose players they want to keep. Seen this so many time before with Cantona, and Ronaldo himself. He looked certain to be off after the World Cup, yet Ferguson talked him round in far more difficult circumstances.

As for Ronaldo, he would be crazy to even want to leave now. Cannot be emphasised enough.

So if he says that, then we all say "Thanks Ronnie, we love you, you're our hero?"
Not me.

Either we've agreed a big contract.Or he's announced he wants to leave.I think it will be the former. But all that cloak and dagger crap was unnecessary.

When have you ever known a big club hold a wantaway player to their contract?

I'm still confused as to what he has to decide

Since he said it two weeks ago, maybe he wanted to stop people from speculating and just wait. Then he entered contract negotiations with the club. The media keep hounding him at every opportunity and his best answer is to say that he's still thinking about it, I don't know why everyone here gets all worked up. Just wait until Tuesday.

Greedy? Maybe. But since he is the best player in the world it seems reasonable to want the bes contract in the world. Ungrateful? No.

I think it would be very very difficult to keep negotiations quiet and why wouldn't United come out and say that is what is hppening?

There were plenty of murmurings in the press about Ronaldo negotiating a contract since January, I'm surprised less people have picked up on it. i'll try to find a link.

Guy from a portuguese news paper on SSN is saying that the decision most likely could be Madrid.

If he actually wants away, and we are in someway forced to sell because of it against our will, then what's the fecking point in contracts?

"decision" means also "signing (a contract)" in portuguese*

*-this may not be true

so it begins

It began exactly two days after the CL final. Instead of enjoying a CL trophy, they've spent more time insulting a player who gave his all during the season. I bet they feel more love towards Saha than Ronaldo right now. All he did during the year is suddenly forgotten. It makes me

The only one I can find is this: United Prepare £44M Ronaldo Contract but there was definitely a few more reliable sites reporting it.

I don't doubt that there have been rumours of a new contract but why would United not come out in the press with it and also why would Fergie feel the need to even talk about Real if they felt aren't a real threat?

Realistically? To maintain asset value.

Not me.

Well no, I dont think anyone would be saying that.

But on the other side, I have twice heard and seen him say in response to the question "Are you going to stay at United" with the answer "I STAY".

Maybe him saying "In the future we'll see" is him trying to say ask me again in 1-2 years. I really dont know.

If he leaves, then so long thanks for the memories. If he stays, then great.

There will always be the usual cretins who will abuse him. I would say that if he does go my overriding emotion will be of being disappointed in him.

lets just get the fecking announcement one way or the other then we can get on with it...either way i think our summer spending will be dependant on it, ie if he goes we'll hopefully have a shit load of cash to spend on trying to plug the hole.
Problem is given that we will hold out for said shit load of cash, it is likely to drag on and on and we may not actually get said shit load of cash until teh very end of teh transfer window and as such not have the opportunity to strengthen...if Madrid do let it drag once Ronnies sais he wants to go they could really squeeze the price as the end of teh wndow approaches unless Fergie would actually let him rot in the reserves, in which case we could end u minus ROnaldo and minus quality replacement come the start of next season...

Two days will pass and Ronaldo will probably put out some line that means this drags on till after the Euros.

Wouldn't be surprised by that.

It's more than possible that both sides are playing their trump cards right now in oirder to force a final decision on a new contract. Wouldn't surprise me if Fergie was over there with Ronnie right now.

It is all a mystery, but SAF seemed pretty confident about him staying with us the day before the Champions League final. He could just be getting agitated with Real Madrid being such twats, because he didn't comment on the speculation for a long time, he could just be making sure Ronaldo doesn't get unsettled.

People may see me as delusional/wishful but I definitely think I am being realistic while staying positive.

Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all......

I don't disagree and I wish I was feeling as positive. I can see rational arguments for both sets of outcomes.

As it's been said before, even if he does sign a new conract, I think his standing with the Majority of United fans has been harmed.

It's like you have a massive fall out with your girlfriend after she's been flirting with another feller. You stay together but's it's not the same, you just don't fully trust or believe her anymore. All she had to say was, no thanks, I'm very happy with boyfriend. End of story

I hope this is all just one big feck off charade that Ronnie and the club have concocted just to put Real in their fecking place, tempt the cnuts with a little hope then sort out the new contract and tell the feckers that Ronnie never intended leaving in the first place.

If he stays, will you boo him?
I've never booed a United player in my 50 odd years of supporting United. Wouldn't start now.
If you look back on here I've been Ronnie's greatest fan.....going as far as saying he's the best player I've ever seen.
We, as fans, don't deserve this.

he's the driving force of the team though

you cant buy someone and expect them to fit right in

there are more talented players out there but none who can give us what he gives us

if he goes to Madrid he will fail because they have plenty of players who think they are the driving force of the team

We've been in this situation time and time again. The best example was when the King Cantona retired. And it was existing young sqaud players who immediately filled the void. In reality, it was only us fans who felt that viod as the team went on from strength to strength.

If Ronaldo left, then Nani & Anderson would immediatly step up, Rooney could resume his original positions and Tevez would become more even more instrumental.

I really dont think the loss would be that great.

if we did get rid of Ronaldo i'd hope we would bring in someone who uses their pace to get down the wing and not a Beckham, Bentley type of player who use crossing as their main points. Rooney isn't big nor is he that great at heading, Tevez too.

I could get over flirting, its when she starts saying that she quite fancies the bloke across teh road and will shack up with him one day, mayve soon, that you have to start worrying...

If he does leave the transfer forum will explode. We'll be linked with every possible player, every hour of every day.

Jesus christ.
