If the reports are true regarding him making his decision to leave during last season why oh why tell the worlds media after the CL final "I stay"?

I really don't know what to believe. There is no smoke without fire as they say but that doesn't mean that 99% of what is being reported isn't bullshit.

Nani a week or two back was reported as saying that Ronaldo was staying. Now all of a sudden he's changed his tune and has said he's going?

Maybe Ronaldo is split 50/50?

Nobody doubts his ability. It's his circus inviting attitude which pisses most people off, because United are a football club, first and foremost.

Real Madrid want to sign him because he's both a footballer and a media magnet - they need a media ho to boost their ratings. United do very well with their image by doing it right on the football pitch.

I couldn't care less now to be honest. I will be gutted at us losing Ronaldo the player but will be equally pleased to see Ronaldo the person leave.

Ronaldo has got a bit to big for his boots and i really hope that when he does eventually join his "dream club" he crashes and burns. No hard feelings, honest ;)

I feel the same....ffs...its only Ronaldo, I will get assdrunk for a night and after that I can move on.

No mate, he's talking in riddles to secure his own future, just in case the wind starts blowing in another direction.

I don't think his interview was filled with riddles. I think he's been pretty open. The only thing he's not said is, that he won't be playing for United next season. He knows we hold all the cards.

Nothing whatsoever that can be properly verified, except 'I stay'. But that's not enough for most on 'ere, hung, drawn and quartered already!

Wow, have to say mate, that's some expert clinging you're doing right there! Still going with the 'I stay' thing as proof he's staying and doesn't want to leave huh? Tell me, when he says he's going to make a decision in a few days (which he's said several times now, and its not just media crap cos I've watched the words come from his mouth), just what is he deciding if indeed 'I stay'?

Ronaldo is best mates with Heinze, we frankly all should have known better

Ahhh, so that interview was a figment of my imagination.

Silly me.

I keep asking, don't I? where's the audio/video so we can see him say it himself? not interested in some Spaanish reporter's view of what he said. Let's hear the man himself! Seems to be missing.

So all these statememnts from the United press office, SAF, Carlos, Gill, United players past and present are just ramblings of insecure people?

Come and join us on this planet.

There's no way he's getting out of here without meeting with Fergie.

I'm still backing Ronaldo to be at Old Trafford this coming season.

SIR Alex Ferguson will fight tooth and nail to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United manager has been unmoved by Ronaldo's comments this week, which suggested he was desperate for a £75m move to Real Madrid.

Sources say Fergie is determined not to lose the double footballer of the year and has instructed chief executive David Gill not to buckle under intense pressure from the player, his agent Jorge Mendes and Real.

Ferguson has already intimated that he has the backing of the Glazer family to sit Ronaldo in the stands rather than be forced to sell. And he is understood to be confident he can convince the 23-year-old to stay at United for at least another season, like he famously did with Eric Cantona in 1995.

That remains to be seen with Ronaldo making it clear that he is ready to quit the European champions after five trophy-laden years.

And his latest comments suggest he has no qualms about burning bridges at United.

"It is a personal thing. It is something I want, something I dream of," he said. "And it is true that my family dreams of it too.

"Of course it will be difficult to get out of United. It is always difficult. It is not only one person deciding, it is many people, but it can be a very good thing for everybody. But what I have, it is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want.

"For me it is a great opportunity, and as (Luiz Felipe) Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it."

Are you being purposely obtuse, or something? it was on SNN. I heard it. Now, you can bury your head in the sand if you want. But there's no chance I can pretend that he didn't say those things, and that I didn't hear them. (Unless that was Ballague mimicking Ronaldo.)

You'd think some of you are Ronaldo fans and not United fans.

Have you heard him say anything else as definite? Ronaldo himself, I mean. If you have, let us all in on it, then I'll stop 'clinging'. And he's 'best mates' with Ruud, too.

I heard him say those comments. Sorry, but get rid.

Give us the link, certainly not heard anywhere else.

There were definite inconsistencies in the Balague interview. I reckon he knows or is scared he might be made to stay by SAF's stubborness not to give in to his and Reals demands, and is playing a dangerous game for himself.

He keeps digging.

in fairness though it's in our best interest spoonov at the moment to keep Ronaldo, unless we pull a rabbit out of a hat. We have to protect our interests which is why Sir Alex will try and change Ronaldo's mind

If he's unable to then let's just make sure we get the best deal possible and i'm sure while we're confident we're planning in the background just in case

Why did Balague renege on his promise to upload the live recording of the interview with ronnie?

Since Balague is an expert on Spanish affairs, can he tell us if United are really going for Fabiano and Alves?

I don't think he actually believes the whole "train passes by only once" crap hes saying, of course Madrid would keep coming in for him next season, the season after, as hes so young, hes just looking for excuses and sympathy. And I don't for a second believe its his 'dream', I remember reading he was a Benfica fan as a kid, he just wants the personal glory and money that go with playing for Madrid.

 arse kisser™ That was so good that you've got a trademark!

Dude that is not ass kissing. In the past i have felt that Jason has given me a pretty hard time (He banned me earlier this year when i didn't feel i deserved it). But the guy is a quality poster and i will give credit where i feel credit is due.

I will admit that some of my earlier posts in this thread were pretty ridiculous as i was so angry with Ronaldo that i forgot common sense.

Posters like Jason and Pogue Mahone however have kept there emotions to a minimal and provided a rational view of the proceedings.

If letting people know that i think what they are seeing is 100% spot on etc is ass kissing then just call me rimmer ;)

You can add Spoonov to the list of rational posters as well.

A very dangerous game. There will be a point of no return. . .and if a deal can not be thrashed out, he'll be buggered. That said, it depends on Fergie. Either he's playing hardball or he genuilnely wants him to stay. None of us know what he's going to do. But he's(SAF) not exactly rushed back from his holiday, has he?

He's the best player on the world. But is it worth keeping a player that wants to play for another club? That said, a part of me loves the idea of sticking two fingers up at Real and keeping him. They'd look like a laughing stock.

But is it worth keeping a player that wants to play for another club?
I'm sure a lot of players in the Premier League, and many other leagues, wants to play for United. I don't think he'll give the ball away more often even if Real are his dream.

If Ronaldo does stay, what do you think the reaction will be at OT at our first game? Don't think there'll be boos or such. But I reckon Viva ronaldo will definitely be muted. Unless of course he apologises profusely for what has happened this summer before that.
