ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

I think everything that will be said by United and Real from now in the media is nothing less than a bartering for a price. But Ronaldo should keep his mouth shut as everything he said has gone in Reals favour.

Today’s headlines, such as 'shut it Fergie' are also not doing us any favours, the only thing it will do is wind up the united supporters foolish enough to believe anything their paper says anyway.
The media in England went overboard once before regarding Ronaldo and we seen through it, I hope we all can do the same now and they don't turn the majority of United fans against Ronaldo, because I think it would be a shame to end it on a bitter note.

If Ronny leaves then I wish him all the best, and I'm grateful for his performances this season.
Too late

Ronaldo's head has it's own gravitational pull - the earth revolves around it.

Remember on MUTV before the Player Of The Year awards when he was wearing the huge 1980s style sunglasses at dusk in the shade?

The alarm claxons were sounding all the way over here in America when I saw that.

Basically, he wants two things. To join Real Madrid, and to be remembered fondly at Man Utd. As he has said, he would happily join them now if Real make an offer that we accept. Quite likely he is even hoping we accept the offer. But he won't try to force us to accept that offer, as long as he knows that we will let him make the move in the not-too-distant future. He can be convinced that the time hasn't come yet, and the key is that while he is here he will always try his hardest. Indeed, he might even be at his best when given an exact timeframe, as he knows he has to fit every goal and record into that time that he can.

I still think this can be done. We've all known he's an egotist of epic proportions for a long long time.

But the "it isn't in my hands" comments make it clear he knows he's not in the best bargaining position and he's likely to spend another couple of years here.

He's got a very very long time left in his career yet.

simply do not understand the clamor for benzema. the guy already said he prefers to play in spain than in england. if indeed ronaldo goes, do we want this shit all over again with benzema? like ronaldo, he'll use us a stepping stone to play in spain.

Transfer Flavour Of The Week.

Now that Berbatov has finally been recognised as an overrated sulker, they've gone for a player they've seen once and who scored a goal against us.

Typical really.

Will be interesting to see how he performs for Madrid. Suspect he won't have the same impact as he's had at Old Trafford, over the last couple of years. We'll see, I suppose. But seriously, I'd blow all that cash on Messi. They'd be crazy to turn down anything around £50m, leaving some cash for a striker and all. Time for Tevez to do his duty.

What happens when they don't sell him then?

Ronaldo only looks as good as he does because:

VDS and our back four are a brick wall....
Hargreaves Carrick and Scholes are such quality midfielders who boss the middle of the park and supply the front men consistently.
Tevez and Rooney work so dammed hard...

Granted Ronaldo is an amazing talent himself and has a psychological presence, but put him in a different team (even Madrid) and he will not look as good.

United on the other hand just ned to fill one gap

That's not exactly "just" one gap.

It is a winger who scored 42 goals last season.

There's a video and/or audio of him saying any of this? where can I see or hear it? I don't doubt he wouldn't mind going now but only if we reach agreement with Madrid. If we don't, I believe he's equally content to stay. Why wouldn't he be? No dramas at all about it.

I think so too. He has everything he needs and wants at united (other than the dream of playing for madrid). His teammates love him and his manager and coaches are fond of him.

...and £300,000 a week
...and the weather
...and the culture
...and his family's wishes
...and to make a step forward
...and the fact that most of us think he's a cnut

Disgrace. No, not Ronaldo but 90 percent of the people in this thread.

90 is a bit generous

Exactly.

Nevermind the fact he's actually said he would love to play for Real(or words to that effect)

He's said that SINCE 2003.

He said that he'd love to go, but it's not upto him. Basically that he's still under contract and it's up to United to let him go, if Real's offer's good enough. I don't think he can be any clearer. To be honest, I was a bit gobsmacked when I heard the interview, I thought he'd skate around the issue.

Frankly, ss long as we get a decent price, I'm not too fussed. Let him go.

It isn't up to him.

That's a pretty important distinction there.

Is anyone else under the distinct impression that:

1) Real said the player had to indicate he would like to move and they would immediately make a bank-breaking bid to buy
2) He has said he would one day like to leave
3) They have now grown "cautious"
4) Their offer has gone from a reported 120m pounds to a reported 45m Euro in installments.

I suspect Real Madrid are totally and utterly skint. Perhaps they've not got even close to the amount of money they would need to prise him away presuming he demanded to leave and we decided we wanted out.

Of course one tries to get the best deal possible, but come on. That's just too big of a difference from the talk to the walk. It's a joke.

May I ask what part of Jason's statement you are arguing with?

He's quite clearly a sulker, and he's quite clearly overrated on this forum. Which would mean, the original statement was spot on.

In the supposed interview with the Brazilian donkey, Ronnie said that he would go if Real came up with their promises of $ and satisfied him and United. Figures then being talked about were £100M and £300,000 a week.
This talk of E45M is a joke.
£100M. No more. No less. Anything less just wouldn't make sense.

Nah, we won't get anywhere near £100m, £75m is the most we could get.

With the £'s dramatic fall against the Euro over the last year its a good time to get your hands on a fistful of euros.

For instance a year ago 100m Euros was worth £66m, today the same amount is worth £80m.

Analysts predict the pound will strengthen a bit against the Euro by the end of 08.

We should get £100 million. Look at the marketability and age of Ronaldo. He'll make Real hundreds of millions. Also take into account his contract.

£100 million please.

Utter bilge.

Aside from you and Mrs Milton Bradley (Top Red), everyone older than your nephew was trying to wait until there was some sort of definitive word, or like Spoony was of the impression he was once again angling for another contract improvement.

Pulling out the 'Top Red' card is beneath you and pretty pathetic.

It's not about being a 'Top Red' - being more of a realist would be better way of describing my stand. If you guys did not work out his intentions from his silence then you're either very naive, burying your head in the sand, or likely in denial giving ronaldo any reasonable excuse for his despicable behavior.

Ronaldo has every right to angle to for a better deal, or a move, but there are a certain way of doing these things - usually behind closed doors with class and dignity.

As for me pulling out the 'Top Red' card is something you have in your mind, I have always thought my self fortunate to be able to watch United due to my circumstances. I am sure there are many fans around the World who have never been near Old Trafford, who I'm sure have a lot more affection for United than myself. I have helped out fans who have spent their lifetime savings just to watch one match at Old Trafford - It's the likes of them that are deserving to be called 'Top Reds'. As a matter of fact I have always marvelled at your support for United.

Finally my being a United fan does not depend on United being successful, or having Ronaldo in the team, although it makes it a lot more pleasurable.

Chill out Jason, it does not befit your status as a Moderator, an elder on the forum, and a lawyer to be calling names.

Some random thoughts: I'd appreciate if both sane folk and the Ronaldo cnut!!!!111!!! folk would give it a read.

Ronaldo has by no means covered himself in glory, but I still believe much of this crap is totally made up. In 2006 he said some asinine crap, but he also had tons and tons of crap attributed to him and false translations made up out of whole cloth by the English and Spanish media.

I do believe he is now seriously heavily flirting big time with Real and would prefer to go there believing that he would actually get 3x the money as well as a chance to play for his boyhood club and a huge payday for his agent (remember, new UEFA rules mean renegotiations within a club mean no agent's fee) and a lifestyle closer to that of his childhood for him and his family. He also would likely get a better image rights deal if reports of his United deal are true. You've only got a limited time to take advantage of being the BPotP

I feel he may very well have begun this as a means to negotiate with United (hence the "I stay" at the CL Final), but his ego is so wildly out of control and he has been influenced by his agent and Scolari over the last month and has come to believe that Madrid would be bigger and would thus better suit the best player in the world.

I also believe that he's not got the guts to get in a room with Ferguson - when he did that last time he suddenly had the mental strength to stick around in 2006 after previously saying he didn't know if he could stay. He does love Ferguson like a grandfather and Quieroz as a father and I think he's scared shitless of facing them. I even think he loves Sir Bobby like an Uncle in his own way - even with his documented shitfaced behaviour at the media day for Munich in January. He's just not a very nice human being.

And I still believe that with FOUR YEARS on the contract he is still 80% likely to stay for up to two more years and still leave for 40-50m pounds (two years left on a deal for a 25 year old is a LOT), by which time we will be able to have prepared for his departure.

Largely because he has such a long term deal, there is no backup plan or preparation for his departure. This is unlike with Beckham when Ole was favoured at RW for the second half of 2002/03, Stam when we purchased Laurent Blanc who Fergie repeatedly said he thought was fantastic in spite of it being obvious he was past it, or Ruud where he was basically benched for the whole of 2006 as we assaulted the league and (ahem) the League Cup

There is no way we have a backup plan for Ronaldo at this stage or even have considered one at this stage - and he's so good it will take a year at least start to get one into place. He's not a minor figure where we just pick up a bit-parter from Blackburn or a backup from Bucharest to replace.

I have often said during the whole 'we MUST MUST buy Strikerinho from FM05/06/07/08/09 crap that with Ronaldo coming good and our fluidity that we didn't need a big time front line striker. Now we might need one and might need to consider a bit of a change in style (unfortunately, because I think the fluid stuff is more dangerous) as we're sure not going to find another 30 goal winger. It will take time to shape the team around him and find the proper one.

I continue to believe Ronaldo will not leave for a year or possibly two as we prepare things to make his departure work best for all of us.

Even the most "damning" of the asinine statements attributed to him say "it is not in my hands" or words to that effect. He knows that the contract is too long term for him to force anything.

He is far too big for his intentionally-torn stone-washed designer britches. But he's also the best player on the planet with four years to run on his contract.

We don't have to worship him to acknowledge his gigantic importance to our current squad and the fact that he can not be replaced.

Before we have him shot, lets see what happens in the coming 70 days.

Viva Ronaldo! I can't help but love the little feck like an errant child.

Then we don't sell. BPITW. £100M. We don't want to sell so if Real can't come up with our asking price we don't sell. That parts simple. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

No, that's what you would do. The Glazers won't let a valuable asset significantly depreciate in value by hanging onto him for another year, especially when there seems no chance of him signing a new contract.

Viva Ronaldo! I can't help but love the little feck like an errant child.
Not any more.

Your party piece there is pretty much what's been said here by many for the last 200 pages or so.
But many are turning. I'm telling you, the knives are out. My family in Manchester are fuming. They want him out now. It's a done deal for them.
Everything turns on what United will do next. We know Ronnie's desires now.

He does seem to think that provided we got a boatload (assuming the interview was true), we'd all be fine with it.

This is why they've been "cautious" now, and were so keen on telling him he must demand to leave as well as courting him in such and over the top fashion.

Then we don't sell. BPITW. £100M. We don't want to sell so if Real can't come up with our asking price we don't sell. That parts simple. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

They're going to try to do it in ridiculous installments.

CRonaldo's "it is not in my hands" thing makes me think he realises that he cannot leave us fecked and wants us to be handled fairly if he does depart - and that he won't stand for us getting screwed.

Time is on his side.

He has said that he would be perfectly happy to play for us next year if things don't work out.

We should get £100 million. Look at the marketability and age of Ronaldo. He'll make Real hundreds of millions. Also take into account his contract.

£100 million please.

They screwed themselves with the huge money talk and specifically coming out and saying that he would be worth 500m to them in his first year as a marketing tool.

I think even if Ronaldo does specifically ask to go that he will totally understand what the score is if we tell him no either because we want time to get our shit together, or because their offer is a pittance compared to their talk.

In fact, he's such an egotistical arse that he just might end up insulted and pissed off if for all of the talk of 120m pounds and 300m pounds a week they turn around and offer 45m Euro (30m pounds!) and 200m Euro (150m pounds) a week!

Maybe Real will make him a Red for life after all! :nervous:

Excellent post I completely agree for the most part. I do want to add that his maturity is that of a spoiled 5 year old.

Exactly.

He's said that SINCE 2003.

It isn't up to him.

That's a pretty important distinction there.

"For me it is a great opportunity and, as Scolari says, that train passes by only once and we have to take advantage of it.

"That is why he took advantage of his change. Other people have to take advantage of opportunities, too."

He clearly wants a move this summer. What else does he have to say? The fact is it's not upto him, as you've mentioned. That's why he's almost pleading with the clubs settle the issue. Whether Real have the money or not, the fact is they're not a normal club. Anything's possible. And I don;t believe for one minute he's actually worth as much as they think he is, off field. United make what, £50m profit?? that's largely down to gate receipts and TV revenue. And that will continue to grow as long as the Glazers keep increasing the ticket prices. It's been on the increase since they took over, it has nowt to do with any one player.

Actually, within all this we shall see the true colours of the Glazers. An interesting sideline. This may turn many fans heads depending on how they handle this. Maybe we'll be seeing Love Glazer, Love United stickers all over the place. Funny world.

Chill out Jason, it does not befit your status as a Moderator, an elder on the forum, and a lawyer to be calling names.

Contrary to all of the evidence of this thread, you've been mentioning how "us matchgoers" feel differently and more passionately than OOTers since about page 10.

That's tittish behaviour, and I call it as I see it.

To do anything else would not befit my status as a moderator, an elder on the forum, or as a lawyer and would be an insult to the forum itself.

There have been plenty of long termers and/or locals (see Spoony for one) who have been cautious and put the lie to your constant bilge about there being a difference in passion and opinion between match goers and those on the internet.

There have also been plenty of children who jumped on the Ronaldo cnut!!!!11!! bandwagon the moment the wind started to blow differently.

I'm not worried about myself - I know you're not questioning me. I'm questioning your backhanded attack on them and pointing it out as pathetic.

At this juncture I think it would be most appropriate in the interests of total honesty - which is the single most important trait for a Moderator and an elder on the forum (although not as a lawyer, to be fair) - to once again point out that your repetition of that crap is utter bullshit and an insult to quite a few folk on here.

I thank you.

Regards,
Jason

WE (united) are bigger than any player we overcome munich, overcome losing great players like best, charlton, law, robson, cantona, beckham, van, nistleroy. Losing ronaldo to rea madrid is nothing.

the Glazers realize by now that their investment is only worth as much as a winning team...and that means giving SAF what he wants....for now I am certain he does not want to break up the team....so I dont think there will be any such sticker....

Fergie is God maybe....well maybe thats already done...
