Wonder what it was he needed to do that was so important he acted like a horrible cnut on an issue which the club holds so dear to their hearts and have remembered for 50 years.

Horrible, Horrible human being. :nono:

Wonder how Rooney managed to bite his tongue and remain friends with him after that...

Kind of puts things into perspective now too... can you blame Ruud for having a fall out with him? Obviously not appropriate to hit him with the 'father' issue etc but theres so much you can take from a self loving cnut who is the only person in the locker room with a mirror... christ  Little faggot.

How the tide turns.

isn't ruud a cnut for putting in 3 transfer requests before getting his move to madrid? where suddenly the last two seasons at madrid he looks like he's rolled back the years and has a 'spring' in his step. this naturally is because he's happier in madrid than he was at the last couple years in manchester.

this i agree. the question is what is the best exit strategy for the club.

after all, if we wanted him out ASAP and that was our only objective we could just terminate his contract and let him walk on a free, but that's not exactly beneficial for the club, is it?

the club/fergie will have to figure out transfer strategy, timelines, costs, fees, etc that is most beneficial for united going forward and this takes lots of time and thought.

The strategy is...

... if Madrid want him, they are going to have to pay through the nose for him. For once, we should come out of a sale having absolutely raped the other club.

I lost notion of caring whether or not Ronaldo stayed or left. The media circus dragged on way too long for my liking and has left a bitter taste on what should have been a glorious summer where we were basking as the greatest team in Europe.

Like many others I would have preferred if he had chosen to leave United in two years like I thought he would have done. But that was before I realised how selfish and single-minded Ronaldo really is. Seems like he has been trying to get a move for months.

Seems to me it hit him that he has spent a few years at United and feels like he has given the club his dues. That isn't right as he has only been a goldenboy for the past two years. Rooney has been of more significance to the club for a longer period.

In terms of Ronaldo moving, because he will move at some stage. I am 90% certain he will move this summer, 10% not sure because it seems like Madrid reckon they can get him on the cheap. feck that, if we're selling a player that we didn't want to for the first time then it's got to be for some overvalued figure. If Madrid can't match that then Ronaldo has to stay and rot in the stands. Would be interesting to see if he gets the ballon do'r he cherishes so much if he can't get a game.

If he was to leave, I will still remember him as great player, great cnut as well.

Definitely, the reason being this is the first time we are selling a player we weren't so willing to sell in the first place.

never once did i comment on my opinion on his character.

most people on here think sharpey is a 'twat'. i've met him a few times and he's a top class lad.

it is obvious that ronaldo wants to leave, we all knew it was going to happen at some point. atleast he hasn't explicity put in a transfer request, because that would hurt our negotiations when it comes to a fee.

You think we should thank him for that?! :nono: What a considerate classy professional that makes him. :wenger:

I'd like SAF to be at his most spitful in his next actions. Make the Stam affair look like tiddlywinks.

In SAF I Trust .... to do what is best of Manchester United ... and if that is fecking up this little cnuts career, all the better.

Nani did more in twenty minutes against Germany than Captain Ronaldo did in the entire Euro campaign. United shou;d take Robhino & 50 million for Ronaldo then sit back & laugh at how the "greatest player in the world" suddenly turns to shit without the assistance of ultra talented teammates selflessly sacrificing their own game so that the omnipotent great one can shine.

He had the world at his feet. Its all about to turn to dust. The egotistic galactico`s at Madrid will not roll over & die for the furtherance of Ronaldo. He is going to be an extremely frustrated (albeit wealthy) young man with his trophy days behind him. Oh dear me Cristiano what might have been?

don't want to get off topic as this discussion would probably belong in the general but other than for footballing reasons, i'd rather be paid 80k a week to live in parts of germany, switzerland, italy, france, spain, or even the netherlands, than get 120k a week in the UK.

I think this is very much on topic, dealing as it does, at least in part, with why such players might prefer to be elsewhere. So as a matter of interest, would you care to share your reasons with us?

Flaw, great idea!!! Oh that scenario would just be lovely! I would LOVE that. A perfect strategy to feck up this little shite.

Another reason which I highly doubt Ronaldo considered is the fact that the current United team to the detriment of Wayne Rooney is built around Ronaldo's strengths. Think if Ronaldo is to leave we will move to a classic 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 , whatever you Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime want to call it instead of a rotating front three we have now. We will obviously cope, Ronaldo won't score 42 goals in a season again that's for sure.

Let's get in Arshavin and a proper centreforward.

SAF's never been put in this position by a player he wants to keep. SAF knows that he needs to keep ronnie in order to solidify the dynasty of his last team.

every other saga, saf has had the upper hand because he could afford to feck them off (mcgrath, ince, kankan, hughes, stam, becks, even keane, etc.) If ronado were to war with saf (which i don't think will happen, but if it did), SAF would come out on top but saf would try to concede/appeal to him more than any of the names i mentioned above. this is a unique situation for the club and ferguson.

I'm not supporting all of Ruud's actions, only now I can see why he may have wanted to flatten that little prick.

totally agree.

if ronaldo leaves, saf/management should look to build around the strenghts that we will still retain, not try to replace ronaldo like for like.

bring in a top bollocks shit hot striker for wazza to play behind and a top 5 winger to play out right, and we will still be very strong.

And therein lies the tragedy of Icarus. The problem is he has been told this by so many... he will know all of this already. And even still, he has his head turned. The only explanation can be a lack of quality within the individual ... too much too soon ... will end in a sorry tale of implosion.

You are absolutly right about the mega-ego's of Madrid. Raul, Ruud, Robinho, Robben, hmm, I just cant see who is going to be willing to do his legwork!

Will be interesting to see how he performs for Madrid. Suspect he won't have the same impact as he's had at Old Trafford, over the last couple of years. We'll see, I suppose. But seriously, I'd blow all that cash on Messi. They'd be crazy to turn down anything around £50m, leaving some cash for a striker and all. Time for Tevez to do his duty.

Spot on none of those four players mentioned will work their legs off for Ronaldo. I feel we could see Ronaldo being told to stay out on the wings and track back, neither of which he does often at United. This will be a detriment to him as a player which is a shame for football but he will deserve it.

I'd love it if we got Messi, he definitely has more talent than Ronaldo. Problem is even if Barcelona were to accept a bid, I can't see why Messi would want to leave. A bit like us accepting a bid for Rooney, reckon he would turn it down.

I hope he doesn't get world player of the year now. Can you imagine the size of his head if he were to get it? :nervous:

It's a shame you can't find players like Giggs who are tremendous professionals and world class players wanting to remain at the one and only club for over ten years.

spoony mate, messi is barca for life. they flew him and his fam at a very young age and paid for his hormonal treatments to combat growth deficiencies, when his fam couldn't afford it in argentina.

there is no point in getting messi to OT.he'd never come even if barca accepted a ridiculous transfer. buying messi would cost us more than selling ronnie, FACT.

would scholes, gaz, giggs had left united? no, they are united lads. messi is a barca lad.

best would be to get a top notch striker for rooney to play behind. ideally it would be eto'o (if his injuries are gone and fergie can control his attitude).

and get someone out wide (not ribery, he is overpriced and personally think overrated). i can't think of names now, but you get th idea.

You're right. Whatever happens, its going to be wonderful to watch our beloved leader in action over the next month. I have no doubt that the outcome will be in the best interests of Manchester United .... and given that, as you rightly point out, there is no precedence, its going to be compulsive viewing and yet another insight into SAF's remarkable character and managerial prowess.

Oh how I love supporting Manchester United. fecking Amazing Club.

BTW, did you know that we are 2008 CLUB CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE?

If Barca even accepted an offer, do you reckon Messi would come?

He doesn't seem the disloyal, cnuty type. Not that I'd think that of him did he actually come.

If he does go in the summer, expect us to play Madrid in the Champions League. Guaranteed.

I fecken hope so and I hope the players put all 'friendship' aside, if there is any, and flatten him.

Would be extra fantastic if we knocked them out and watched that little gimp ball his eyes at at Old Trafford and 70,000 united supporters pointing and laughing at him.

messi will never leave.

we actually would have a better chance trying for kaka ;).

no in all seriousness, we would really havea better chance at kaka if we seriously pursued it compared to messi. messi would be a wast of time.

deserves to be a bit bigger mate.

According to Forbes, Ronaldo is the most valuable footballer in the world. Ahead of Kaka and Messi. By a considerable margin. I think it takes into account marketability and all that. Anyway, Messi's just a pipe-dream for me. I really think he's a once in generation player. Ronaldo's more complete and probably the best player in the world, but for natural talent, no player comes close to Messi. I am allowed to dream, though aren't I? But yeah, I don;t think Messi would want to leave Barca and visa versa. That said, a huge bid could change things.

I doubt Barca will let Messi go. Especially letting Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco go. They will build the team around him. What says Messi would like to come to United anyway instead of Barca who are just as big a club and he's been there since he was young.

I thought Fergie would try to sort Ronaldo's head out myself but he seems to be caught up in the hype of the football world. Oh well, allow it, we'll move on.

Yep, exactly what I wanted the day after the CL final. Good business. Unfortunately, I doubt it's going to happen. I don't think Fergie's ready to sell him yet.

Ronaldo only looks as good as he does because:

VDS and our back four are a brick wall....
Hargreaves Carrick and Scholes are such quality midfielders who boss the middle of the park and supply the front men consistently.
Tevez and Rooney work so dammed hard...

Granted Ronaldo is an amazing talent himself and has a psychological presence, but put him in a different team (even Madrid) and he will not look as good.

United on the other hand just ned to fill one gap

not ssaying they are same cultures.

however portugual and spain etc have more in common than portugal has with the uk. no one is saying its like for like. it is the degree of differentiation between the 3.

Portugal? Iberian peninsular? We're talking about a small island in the Atlantic Ocean; one that's almost halfway to Brazil from, say, Southampton. Have any of you been there? It's about as close to mainstream Portuguese cuture as th eShetland Islands are to the south of England's.

ronnie is the most valuable player, but he's angling for a move which we'll end up selling and since he wants to leave, that invariably will drive the price down.

to buy messi, feck me, we'd have to convince barca and a player who doesn't want to leave and would reject transfers even if barca accepted.

the only way i think messi would leave if if barca suddenly were going bankrupt and hurting for cash and told messi he needed to be sold in order to save the club from going into administration.

Does it not cross anyon's mind that the fact Rooney didn't do anything might just mean the reporter was blowing the incident up from a friendly little, playful tap of his watch, as any of us might if we were late for an appointment, into the sort of scene the journalist describes? So journos are suddenly wonderful, dependable authorities when it suits our purposes are they? Most on this thread have spent over two hundred pages pouring scorn on their offerings.

Double standards or what!

never been to madeira.

he moved to mainland (sporting) when he was 12 and stayed their till 17 which is a very mouldable time in life development.

feck, hargreaves grew up in canada(till age 13 or so) and then germany (till he was 26). he still angled for a move to the premiership.

Can't believe since the end of Portugal's Euros there has been just one piece of news. It's been recycled a hundred times over based on the same interview. I wonder whats going on behind the scenes?

Still don't think he will be going to Madrid
