I wasn't really talking in real terms, more that they have gone one or two players who would be good for us.

Robinho is an absolutely massive talent but has been totally ruined by Real who have played him out of position and wasted his potential. Fergie is well capable of bringing it out of him.
 
You know what, maybe we are overanalysing al of this. Perhaps Fergie is just giving Ronaldo a suble warning just in case he's thinking of Real or perhaps it's just a shot at Real themselves saying even if they do turn his head we won't sell anway so don't even bother trying.

They're only going to offload players that aren't that important to them. That is,
unless United play hardball. Difference with Barca, is that I think they'd be will to make all their players bar Messi a part of any would be deal, involving Ronaldo.

I just hope it's a straight cash deal.

Have to say, Real really have got their claws into Ronaldo. And he'd be mad to go there at this age.

What happens if Ronaldo just runs down his contract?? You can't really take a chance.
 
If he were to leave let's hope Barca end up buying him. At the minimum they should start a bidding war.

United would sell him well before, although his value would definitely go down with every passing year.
 
If Ronaldo goes Nani and Anderson won't be here for a very long time either.

Look we're not a one member team, we could even possibly get better with the money we make from him. But the problem is it gives credibility to the phone 'Real want our player, Real get our player' theory. Which will hurt the clubs image in the publics eye as in the transfer market.

You think? Why is the Ronaldo thing (and most of football) more like coronation street rather than the normal corporate world?

In the corporate world, you work, earn your living, get good at what you do. Then when someone headhunts you, you think about moving, you think about the money, maybe you think about your propects at the new firm, the challenges, your comfort zone, the location of your new office, etc.

Then you either just decide to stay, or go. If you stay, most of the time no one even knows you were thinkning of leaving, and sometimes, your employer knows, but value you enough to make a counter offer.

None off all this "he's disrespecting fans" shit. Now we as fans feel all this, but leave ronaldo alone - let him do what he, like any other worker, has a right to do.

Then again, marca and redcafe don't exist in the corporate world :lol:

It depends on the player. The English/British/Irish lads would never be tempted. . .but a kid from Iberia who's probably dreamed of playing for Real, is a different case.

amol has somewhat of a point.

sure if you want to look at it in he two extremes, then yes the english/brit/irish lads are on one end of the spectrum, and the iberian/south american lads on the other end of the spectrum.

but this would just push all the lads in the middle of the spectrum (i.e. french, italian, dutch, even german) towards this whole perpetual, who madrid want, madrid get shite.

i mean we saw it with rvn (who asked to try to move to madrid 3 times before fergie actually did sell him).

u see it with benzema who supposedly favours madrid. zidane went to madrid. if madrid went in for ballack, he made it known that was his top choice. the list just goes on.

won't matter in this day and age. if a player has his heart set on a club and the club wants him, doesn't matter who comes in for him.

we actually sold becks to barca first. done deal, 23 million quid.

becks rejected any personal terms with barca, so we were forced to sell to madrid.

I think Ronaldo should read today's headlines.
There is no way the Glazers or Sir Alex would sanction a sale.
With 4 years remaining on his contract, he would be best advised to
knuckle down and continue to repay Sir Alex for all that he has done for him since he has been at Manchester United. Unless sitting in the stands excites him.
 
My gut feeling is that he if off as well. Going to portugal camp has not helped I guess. But Fergie seems determined to keep him. And the worst thing is this summer is just starting. I am going to avoid all this from now on....
 
I still reckon he'll stay for one more season at least. SAF wants to keep him and SAF usually gets his way.

If we sell him we have to be looking at least 50m though.

That's another major point. Marca have had a huge part to play in this. They're constantly stirring shit and trying to alienate Ronaldo from United fans and that seems to be working as well. (Obviously Ronaldo hasn't helped either)
 
What's strange here is....why hasn't Fergie sat down with Ronnie and talked about this? How has it got to this? Is there no communication within OT?

I agree with all this, except I would say that Ronaldo definitely COULD learn a lot more from SAF - both in terms of character and improving his football - so it's not impossible his value could still increase if he were to stay at United.
