Ronaldo not afraid to upset Ferguson
Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is not concerned about upsetting Sir Alex Ferguson when he officially announces his intention to quit Manchester United for Real Madrid.
The Portugal international will make a statement regarding his future in a couple of days' time after his side crashed out of Euro 2008 to Germany in the quarter finals.
United continue to insist that last season's top scorer is not for sale while Ferguson is determined not to be bullied by Real into selling his prize asset.
In an interview on guillembalague.com, the 23-year-old said: "It is a dream, a step forward.
"You can call it what you want. For me, it is a great opportunity and, as [Luiz Felipe] Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it.
"That is why he took advantage of his change, that opportunity, and other people have to take advantage of opportunities too.
"I am going to give my opinion in two days. I am going to say what I want but things don't depend only on me, that is why we have to wait.
"I don't know what I have to say to him [Ferguson]. I have to say what I want and what I think.
"It is my opinion and that is why I don't mind if people get upset. It is my decision. It is what I want."
When asked if it will be difficult to force his exit from Old Trafford, he replied: "It is always difficult. It is not only one person deciding, it is many people.
"But it can be a very good thing for everybody."
When questioned about how upset everybody in Manchester will be with his decision, he stated intriguingly: "But that will pass. A couple of good goals and people will be happy.
"Yes, I will talk to the club first but it is not true [I refused to take a call from Ferguson during Euro 2008]. No [I haven't spoken to him], I was in a very important competition and we had nothing to say to each other."
