Basically, all these quotes are 100% correct and from the man himself..

Yep apart from the bit in brackets. Unless he said

"Possibilities are big open brackets to go to Real Madrid close brackets but it doesn't deppend on me and i don't want to talk about this anymore"

United - Ronaldo not for sale

CristianoRonaldoPortugal_957352.jpg

Its funny innit!

That's why a number of posters have issues with the Glazers takeover.

Thats why we should think with our heads and keep Ronaldo. With the heart is letting him leave, with the head is keeping him. Thats how it is.

What a ridiculous thing to say...

I would have no problems with Drobga, Terry & Deco playing for us if we won the CL again.

How did we cope when Cantona was banned? How did we cope when Rio was banned?

We're talking about the near future, next season or two. We are reliant on certain players. Thats what makes them the best players.

On the long term there is now doubt Manchester United will be successfull.

Exactly, some people don't want to understand those simple things.

This is bloody stupid.
The bloke wants to leave, let him piss off, i can't be doing with all this bollocks after the Tevez rubbish last summer.
Get on with running a football club, not the Ronaldo show.

by spur of the moment i mean the moment we are in right now.. the not knowing whether he'll stay or he'll go stage. it's been going on for a month and we are all angry with the situation. I am too. Not with ronaldo, but with the circumstances. The euro certainly didn't help.

But the point is simple. if SAF and United board can somehow convince him to stay and he gives a press conference saying he's not going to leave - what would be your reaction? he will have in effect turned down Real Madrid. I'd be on the moon!

So what if it takes a lot of money to keep him. he deserves it. he's almost single-handedly put us on top of the map, so why let him go so easily? On top of that, we're changing a man's dreams. We are shattering his dreams using a big wad of cash. But unfortunately that's the only way we can do it.

The player doesn't get to choose which club he goes to unless his current club have agreed a fee or unless his contract has run out (or has 6 months to go).

We don't need to convince him to stay. We just tell him we think he's a great player and we're not willing to sell. Then his choice is between sitting in the stands or playing for united.

If United keep their nerve, they win this battle. Ronaldo can go to Madrid when his current contract is up.

There's something wrong with football fans who are logical. It's not supposed to be that way.

Is anyone else at the stage with this farse that they just don't care one way or the other any more? I was looking foward to a Summer of basking in reflected glory, only for this spoilt, egotistical little boy to gazzump it. FFS,Ronnie if you want out so badly say so, and at least put an end to this,"Who knows what the future holds" I can't say, it is for others to decide" bullshit.

The thread in a nutshell.

Yep I'm with you.

People are angry and upset that a player we'd shown great loyalty too is treating us in this way PSmith. I think football supporters are entirely within their rights to be so upset when they've invested such emotion in a player. Only a season a go he recommitted to the club for a further 5 years. For this to be happening only a year later - it's not expected behaviour is it. And it's no way to treat your supporters

There needs to be a line in the sand here. Ronaldo needs to face the public cameras, and declare where he's at

That's also true. The way I see it also part of being football supporter we've to accept these things will happen, some football players will act like twats. And it's not like our support was wasted, he has helped us win 2 league titles and an European Cup. Yes it's annoying and disappointing but we'll move on. We're at the pinnacle of world football and the only loser in this deal will probably be Ronaldo himself.

But saying all this, it's easy to be rational when nothing much has happened yet. If he does move, I'll probably bet the first to call him cnut.

What he has not done is showed any respect towards the club that has supported, paid, developed and looked after him for the last 5 years.

Cantona just walked! Is that any better? Ronaldo showed respect by scoring those 42 goals that won us the Premier League/European Cup double.

I could understand all of this hullabaloo if he said that he was going to, say Chelsea, or god forbid Liverpool (like Heinze wanted), but Ronaldo has not actually said anything at all meaningful.

This is what muppetry is, it's quite defining, being led along by the tabloid press.

If I was an American at Airbus and had been the linchpin in making them the most important plane builder in the world and Boeing offered me double the money, then I'd ask Airbus to match it or I'm off.

In that case Ronaldo would be an English speaking Canadian.

If the ingrate Cristiano persists in flirting with Madrid, then ManUtd should just sell the boy. Seen how he played in EURO against Germany,...and i can confirm,...he's not the chosen one.
Use the profits to buy Bastian Schweinsteiger and many more instead.

Yeah you're right, maybe we should take ten goals off his season total after that performance, playing for another team, in a competition that doesn't affect the club and replace him with someone from the team that beat them, whoops, him.

If we got relegated to the second division you'd likely be off supporting another team.

Was there any need for that comment? It shows that you don't know what to answer to him, if that's the case you just ignore him.

Georgetown is nice. Although I've managed to cross the Butterworth bridge three times unintentionally when going on a motorbike towards USM. It's a bitch driving back and forth on that long bridge. :\

It helps build character.

This situation reminds me alot of what had happened at the end of the first double team. Now many of us would look back with a smile. We also laugh at what Hansen said but at that time no one laughed. Our club who had just came out of decades of agony had dismantled what was considered the team of invincibles. I mean losing out on three unique talent like Kanchelskis (then hailed the Giggs of the right), Ince (considered as the best defensive midfielder in the EPL) and Hughes (a living legend) was already hard enough let alone having to rely on youth talent with little or no first team experience.

I remember that we started terribly and everyone was saying that we would be lucky if we entered in the UEFA cup next year. There again Manchester United proved everyone wrong, our players stuck together and teamwork compensated for lack of experience. We ended up winning the double.

I confess that I have the same fear that I had at that time. I mean Ronaldo
had just scored 45 goals, which is amazing from a winger. He was been instrumental in our success. Stating that if I had to choose between Ronaldo and the unity our players have to give their all and win then I wouldn't think twice to let Ronaldo go. If Ronaldo comes out and say that he wants to go to Real than that unity will be hindered.

One more thing that many of you may not know is this. When Moratti bought Inter he wanted to convert them into the Italian version of Manchester United. He identified three players of ours which he wanted at all cost ( Ince, Cantona and Giggs). Ince told him that he had no chance of signing Giggs unless Cantona was at his side and Giggsie asked for a transfer. Moratti did his outmost to sign Cantona but the French man put his loyalty to our club above anything else. If Cantona left than there was a big chance that Giggsie would have followed his path. Now if Ronaldo clearly say that he wants to go to Madrid then do really want this guy to be so near to Nani and Anderson? I wouldn't think so.

I have to say that what Ronaldo doesn't say says more than he says...if you get my drift. If he really wanted to stay, surely he would have been more positive about his decision to stay with United - I'm not saying he would say definitely he would stay, but at least say 'Manchester United is a great club and there are many reasons why I would like to stay' - at least that would be more respectful regardless of what he finally decided. But he is being very cryptic and in my mind quite dismissive of what United has done for him which is just as significant as what he has done for us.

The thing that will really get my goat if he leaves is that Real Madrid will have won. That it kind of signals that Real are a bigger draw and subsequently will be conceived as a bigger club than United. It seems to me, as someone else pointed out on this site, South Americans and southern Europeans in general always have a dream to play for Real or Barca some day. Even Tevez has mentioned this. The only time they really seem to be up for the premiership is early on in their careers in helping them develope, or near the end of their careers for one last pay day!

I don't believe any player is bigger than the club, but there are some players who really have an affect of how successful we are. Cantona, Keane....Ronaldo to name but a few. When they leave, a hole is left which takes a lot of adjusting to fill. A 42 goal player is surely very very hard to replace.

Having said that, United have always moved on...but its the grinning members of the hierarchy of Real Madrid that will truly anger me should Ronaldo leave.

The good news is that with global warming, in 50 to 100 years time players will be desperate to leave Spain and Italy because of the desert like conditions and abhorant heat, making them pine for the cooler but, by todays standard, mediteranean like conditions experienced in good old blighty

Which means.....keep driving those four by fours guys and leave all the lights on....:)

Ronaldo not afraid to upset Ferguson

Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is not concerned about upsetting Sir Alex Ferguson when he officially announces his intention to quit Manchester United for Real Madrid.

The Portugal international will make a statement regarding his future in a couple of days' time after his side crashed out of Euro 2008 to Germany in the quarter finals.

United continue to insist that last season's top scorer is not for sale while Ferguson is determined not to be bullied by Real into selling his prize asset.

In an interview on guillembalague.com, the 23-year-old said: "It is a dream, a step forward.

"You can call it what you want. For me, it is a great opportunity and, as [Luiz Felipe] Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it.

"That is why he took advantage of his change, that opportunity, and other people have to take advantage of opportunities too.

"I am going to give my opinion in two days. I am going to say what I want but things don't depend only on me, that is why we have to wait.

"I don't know what I have to say to him [Ferguson]. I have to say what I want and what I think.

"It is my opinion and that is why I don't mind if people get upset. It is my decision. It is what I want."

When asked if it will be difficult to force his exit from Old Trafford, he replied: "It is always difficult. It is not only one person deciding, it is many people.

"But it can be a very good thing for everybody."

When questioned about how upset everybody in Manchester will be with his decision, he stated intriguingly: "But that will pass. A couple of good goals and people will be happy.

"Yes, I will talk to the club first but it is not true [I refused to take a call from Ferguson during Euro 2008]. No [I haven't spoken to him], I was in a very important competition and we had nothing to say to each other."

Feck me there are some right drama queens about.

We are in a win win position. He stays we have a brilliant player. He goes and we have a shed load of money to sign the best players in the world.

Chill out FFS.

Not entirely. If we stop him from going, after he's put in a transfer request and Madrid have come up with the cash, we will have one very disenchanted, demotivated and generally disliked player on our hands. If saying he's not for sale at any price is in fact designed to drive up the eventual price then that's fine. However, if United are genuinely going to make a stand even if Madrid came up with say 70m, then I don't see the point.

I'm enjoying this summer mind. I always hate it when there's no news.

we keep ronaldo = great.
we sell ronaldo = new players come in = great.

either way, we can be sure to expect tons of news and excitement until the season begins!

It doesn't work that way!

Yes it does. Owen Hargreaves didn't join United when we wanted him to do so. He joined when Bayern were prepared to sell him.

Do you honestly think Ronaldo is going to waste a season throwing a tantrum, underperforming, costing himself the chance to be European footballer of the year, world footballer of the year and so on.

His first choice is clearly playing for Madrid, his 2nd choice would be staying at United and winning trophies, sitting in the stands for a season when he is at his prime, will not even be on his list of acceptable outcomes.

Ronaldo can throw tantrum after tantrum but come the end of August he simply has to get on with playing for United.

If Ronaldo or any other footballer really wants to go to one club rather than another then they shouldn't sign these 5 year deals with huge wages. Once they do sign then it is up to the club when they sell.

I don't think that will be the case at all.

I highly doubt we will keep an unhappy player against his will. It's not SAF's style to do that unless it's during the season and he cannot sell those players.

I see only two scenarios panning out:

1. We sell Ronaldo
2. We keep Ronaldo, up his wage and make him happy.

Manchester United have to judge the situation quickly

Ronaldo will talk to Manchester United today or tomorrow about his future and almost certainly inform them that he wants to move to Madrid. Although I like the attitude dished out from Manchester United that Cristiano is not for sale, there is a decision to be made based on the judgement of just how happy Ronaldo would be to stay at Old Trafford next season.

Although it's great to show balls and tell Real Madrid to feck off, we cannot keep Ronaldo if he is set on leaving. It is now the difficult task of the United 'High ups' to judge the merits of keeping him here next season and simply holding off the inevitable transfer to Madrid.

It may very well be in our interests to get rid of him this summer at a higher price.
