ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

I suspect he might say "I will stay 1/2 more years, then I would LIKE Real and United to work something out".Otherwise that goals comment makes no sense.

Presuming Ballague, a serial liar and transfer muppet (Ronaldo was DEFINITELY gone in 2006, Ruud in 2005, Torres to United was a "done deal", etc...), hasn't just made this up or exaggerated it.

Where is the audio he promised hours ago as opposed to a transcript.

Id be more than happy with that. I'll leave you gents to debate the bollox out of this one!!!

Ballague was also saying that Real have up to 100m Euros in a special account to sign Ronaldo.

He also said they will pay 75m.

That's less than half of the 120m POUNDS they were talking about before.

This after they also announced that he would be worth 500m Euro to them in the first year or so via marketing.

I think Real have dug themselves an huge financial hole here.

Guillem Balague: What feeling have you got after the defeat?

Cristiano Ronaldo: What feeling?

Guillem: The one after being knocked out

Ronaldo: We didn’t expect this. We wanted to continue in the tournament, but we didn’t do enough. We weren’t strong enough

Guillem: The little details were won by Germany. You didn’t seem concentrated enough

Ronaldo: I didn’t do anything wrong. I did what I had to do but the team made mistakes and that is why we lost

Guillem: What now, Ronaldo, we are expecting an announcement

Ronaldo: Lets see in a couple of days. The tournament is over and I am going to reach an agreement

Guillem: Are you going on holiday now?

Ronaldo: I am going to have an operation now. I have had for three months a problem on my foot. I have been playing with pain. I will have an operation, a good recuperation and we will see after that

Guillem: If you wanted to stay at Manchester United, why don’t you say it?

Ronaldo: You will soon know what I want. You do know what I want and that is why I don’t want to say anything else. Lets wait. I want to give more details that is why I cannot say much more

Guillem: When will that take place?

Ronaldo: In a couple of days. I am going to give my opinion in two days. I am going to say what I want, but things don’t depend only on me, that is why we have to wait

Guillem: Are you going to do a press conference, a communique?

Ronaldo: A public note

Guillem: Do you have to talk to Ferguson?

Ronaldo: I don’t know what i have to say to him. I have to say what I want and what I think

Guillem: What you have to say, will that upset Ferguson?

Ronaldo: It is my opinion, that is why I don’t mind if people get upset. It is my decision. It is what I want

Guillem: When did you take that decision?

Ronaldo: Some time ago, before the Champions League final

Guillem: Is it something personal or is it football reasons?

Ronaldo: We were competing and I didn’t want to say anything because it is a very important decision . i didn’t want to say anything here because I wanted to be focused on Portugal. But now it is finished and I am going to say

Guillem: Is it a personal problem or sporting problem

Ronaldo: It is a personal thing. It is something I want, something I dream of.

Guillem: And that your family dreams of too

Ronaldo: That is true. You all know what I want. I cannot say anything else. In two days you will hear from me

Guillem: Do you think it is going to be very difficult to get out of United?

Ronaldo: It is always difficult. It is not only one person deciding, it is many people, but it can be a very good thing for everybody

Guillem: Do you feel what you are about to decide is a step forward in your career, a dream?

Ronaldo: It is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want. For me it is a great opportunity, and as Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it

Guillem: Ah, but thats not fair, Scolari is going to be the new Chelsea manager and wants you away from him!

Ronaldo: That is why, he took advantage of his change, that opportunity, and other people have to take advantage of opportunities too.

Guillem: You know that when you return to Manchester people will be upset with you

Ronaldo: But that will pass, a couple of good goals and people will be happy

Guillem: Will the key be to talk to Ferguson?

Ronaldo: I will do a public note and we will then see what will happen

Guillem: Do you think your dream will come true?

Ronaldo: I really hope so, lets see

Guillem: What about the operation?

Ronaldo: I will be seen by the doctors of United in a couple of days

Guillem: You will talk to your club first

Ronaldo: Yes, I will talk to them first, and then in 3 or 4 days I will be operated and then i will start the recuperation to get better soon

Guillem: Is it true that you never took a call from Ferguson?

Ronaldo: It is not true

Guillem: But have you spoken to him?

Ronaldo: No. I was in a very important competition and we had nothing to say to each other

Guillem: Are you convinced that in three or four days everything can be sorted?

Ronaldo: Yes, lets see, in the next few days we will have more details

Balague has just put his reputation on the line with that, it's either true, or he's risking his employment with Sky and other media agencies for fabricating a fake exclusive interview with Ronaldo. I think he wants to go and even I think a lot of that sounds like bullshit, but I guess we'll soon see

I'll tell you a classier situation. Ronaldo says he wants to go to Madrid at the end of his current United contract, and he praises the club and its loyal supporters who've treated him so well. United will obviously sell him with 2-3 years left of his contract in order to get a top transfer fee for him. Ronaldo would have what he wants, a move to Madrid, but would achieve it with far more dignity and respect. We'd remember him as a great player to have adorned Old Trafford. If he goes this summer now, he's ruined his reputation, and sullied his achievements with the club. You'd like to think he actually cares about that, but I immensely doubt he gives two shits what we think of him

All of this reminds me precisely why Ferguson looked after Ryan Giggs so strictly in his early years. It kept the lad on an even kiel, and stopped him getting carried away with his own talent

Did S.A.F. hint to us about this situation when he said Ronnie would be here for at least two more seasons and he could not control how would Ronnie think by then?

I thought that was a very interesting exchange given the spin placed upon the interview as well.

What thinks you?

Ballague, a notorious liar and transfer muppet, promised to put the interview as an AUDIO download on his site, then only puts a transcript up.

He claimed on Sky that everything Ronaldo said indicated he absolutely would leave and expects to leave.

He conveniently left out the "score a few goals" comment.

That interview shows his indecision to me. He wants the both of best worlds: he wants to carry on scoring goals for United, maintaining the status quo, making the fans happy, but he also wants to play for Real Madrid, fulfil a boyhood dream, please his family and make sure United get a hefty sum of cash in return.

He can't have it both ways, but he wants to. That's why, I think, he keeps putting off this decision, and why he's going to go on holiday immediately. He doesn't want to have to make the decision; he wants to run away and hope it all resolves itself in his absence, so there's no tough choices to make and no one's angry with him.

He's a coward, in that respect. It's showing through here: he doesn't want to make the choice. And it showed after the '06 World Cup, where, after pissing off the English fans, he chose to cut and run to Spain, and it took some serious persuading by Ferguson to make him stay. On the field he's a brave giant of a man, but when it comes to matters like this he's a little girl.

cnuts cough up £70m or feck right off, talk big money let's see it.

Yes you can.

These idiots make this stuff up all of the time, as you well know.

He's no better than Custis, even if this one does turn out to be real.

He would make up a fake transcript on a major television network? Hard to believe...

Is it me or is every fcuking interview as vague as fcuk nowadays?

Amazing. You could take out portions and be convinced he is staying and other portions and be convinced he is going.

I'm more irritated with Ronaldo than anyone else. Just fecking say whatever it is you are doing and get it over with.

Guillem Balague

A trained journalist, Guillem joined Sky Sports' Spanish football team while working in London as a correspondent for Don Balón, Spain's oldest and best selling football magazine.

He can be seen on Sky Sports weekly programme Revista De La Liga, in which he provides weekly updates from behind the scenes of La Liga, keeping viewers up-to-date with all the latest news and views.

Guillem is also occasionally a feature on Sky Sports News in which he reports about specific events taking place in Spanish football.

Guillem Balague has given Sky Sports' live Spanish coverage and the weekly magazine show for La Liga a crucial edge thanks to his knowledge of the Spanish game, links with La Liga's clubs and contacts with his fellow Spanish journalists.

As well as television work with Sky Sports, he also has a weekly section on the Sky Sports website which is a commentary in which he gives all the latest news from La Liga and answers readers' emails.

He is regularly regarded for talking rubbish.

I can't see what Ronaldo's done wrong. He's been at the club for five years now, and he's obviously decided to move on. Big fecking deal. Have none of you ever decided to change jobs?

As for the way he's handled himself, I don't really see what other way he could've gone about it. Come out and say publicly that he wants a move to Madrid, before any deal's been finalised? I don't think so. For someone who's constantly being questioned on his his future, he's actually handled it very well.

I wish him all the best.

He would make up a fake transcript on a major television network? Hard to believe...

He told the world United had definitely signed Torres and Senna.

For sure.

Absolutely done deal. He had talked exclusively to people very high up at United and the agents of the players.

He was lying his tits off.

You can't make up and print a full transcript of an interview with a named person.

If Ballegue has made it up he will get rumbled very quickly, although I suspect he hasn't.

The goals comment could be a dig or a slight at the fans. He could be saying here you can be a legend after such and such but to be truely tested you have to be in an environment where you get cynical fans and it's not so easy

I was watching the awards show, and people calling him a legend and such and it made me cringe. Some people you can do that with but Ronaldo if you want to keep his feet on the ground, don't feed him

He wins every personal award, it's practically the Ronaldo awards

That said as Jason said where's the audio? You would think it would take less time to upload audio then to write up a transcript.

I think he's just jumped on the bandwagon and taken a chance at being the one with the exclusives etc but we'll see.

ps: I'm not saying it was a dig, it depends on the context it was said. I don't personally believe that but it's another way of looking at it

I think - given my upcoming early start today after a very few hours sleep - that I'm going to wade through the stuff after work and see what's happened.

Though I don't expect any concrete news to appear until I'm on holiday in France.

Ronaldo knows it isn't his decision. If United don't want to sell then he can't move. He can throw a few tantrums between now and the end of August but if Sir Alex keeps his nerve then Ronaldo will still be playing for United come September.

He certainly has wildly mischaracterised it on tv - the 'score a few goals' bit is a pretty damned big indication he expects to be at United next year. Ballague says its guaranteed he won't be.

He would have no compunction with editing the feck out of it I suspect.

And where is that audio he was putting up within 10 minutes nearly four hours ago?

It is still possible the vague nature of his statements and the two day time frame have to do with negotiations. He and his agent may well have said to United offer us a better contract or we want away to Madrid. That might explain the mixed messages.

I'd think that is still very much in the frame.

He said he made the decision prior to the CL final (according to the Ballague 'transcript'), but on the night of the CL final he said "I stay".

That makes me think either the decision was 1) stump up more money or I'll want off; or 2) I want one or two more years here but then I want to leave.

Thats how I see it anyway. Theres simply not enough time to replace a player like Ronnie in this short peroid of time. He's got our best interests at heart as well so i'd imagine he'd see the sense in that.

Sure you're not goign to replace Ronaldo overnight but we could lay the foundations well enough, we'd adapt.

And as for having our best interests at heart?

Well, that is quite debatable.

Words suchas these tend to dilute that claim >>

Guillem: Is it true that you never took a call from Ferguson?

Ronaldo: It is not true

Guillem: But have you spoken to him?

Ronaldo: No. I was in a very important competition and we had nothing to say to each other.

Nothing to say to each other huh? Couldn't find 30 seconds in nigh on a momth to do your manager and those who have shown such faith in you, the courtesy of reassuring them of your position, or the supporters even?

Stay or not, Ronaldo's reputation is damanged in the eyes of both the Portuguese and ourselves if these quotes are genuine.

I was thinking that too but what contradicts that is his statement about it being a dream and his family's dream. We all know his family don't dream of him playing for united his whole career and he personally doesn't feel that way either so it makes me lean towards him wanting to go madrid.

Most of what the Bal-ache interview portrayed would fit that idea I reckon.

My doubt would centre around the 'dream for himself & his family' quote. Unless this was something about a CR7-Nike deal that included a charity percentage (& I don't think he's that selfless) then a Madrid move would seem to be indicated in that section - the question might be 'when?'

What make you think SAF tried to contact him?

BBC

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo says he will make an announcement to clarify where his future lies within the next few days.

The Portugal winger, 23, has been repeatedly linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Speaking after Portugal's exit from Euro 2008, Ronaldo said: "In two or three days' time I will announce my future because my tournament is over.

"I will speak to United. I will try to reach an agreement and we will see."

Ronaldo failed to inspire Portugal on Thursday as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Germany in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008.

The midfielder was in scintillating form throughout the domestic season and scored 42 goals as United claimed a Premier League and Champions League double.

When asked if he has made a decision regarding a move to Real Madrid, he replied: "No, not yet."

Manchester United have already reported Real Madrid to world governing body Fifa over their public courtship of Ronaldo, although the organisation decided to take no formal action.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has revealed he will undergo surgery on a foot injury which has been bothering him for three months.

"I'm going to have an operation now," said the winger.

"I have had a small problem for about three months. I'll have the operation and then have a good recovery period."

Read a comment by a Real Madrid fan that their club are adamant they will not pay through their nose for Ronnie. This will drag on for a while.

Certainly...he dreams of playing for Madrid...unless United offer him 160,000 Pounds a week...then he dreams of it "at some point in the future".

Just sell him, if he wants to leave then why hang on to him? Sure he's the best in the world at the moment but let's be honest, do we really want to hang on to someone who wants to play for Real Madrid this bad?

We can get Sneijder, Ramos and cash... they really don't need to have both Ronaldo and Sneijder so it would work out pretty good for United plus Ramos has hinted he wants to come over. In all honesty, I don't want United to keep a player that wants to play for another team, whoever he is. I'm also pretty sure that Ronaldo will find out the hard way that Madrid really isn't the best place to be in the long run.

I'd offer him a new contract straight away, as it will mean that instead of him staying for 1-2 years, it will be 2-3 years, as we will get an extra year from Ronaldo without hurting our bargaining position when we decide to sell him.

You can't make up and print a full transcript of an interview with a named person.
Sure you can, at least in this case, were we're not talking about completely making up an interview, but (hypothetically) slightly altering wordings in a certain direction. It's (probably) not like Ronaldo brought his own recording device in order to be able to disprove the (hypothetical) lying journalist's transcripted version.

He wants the both of best worlds: he wants to carry on scoring goals for United, maintaining the status quo, making the fans happy, but he also wants to play for Real Madrid, fulfil a boyhood dream, please his family and make sure United get a hefty sum of cash in return.

I don't think he's a coward, its just that in all probability he doesn't know what he wants. The scenarios I believe are:
1) If he goes to madrid he'll come to regret it and wish he had stayed at united
2) if he stays united and wins it all again for consecutive years or whatnot will he come to regret it and think that he could've also acheived it all with madrid.

I think he's having a battle with his mind and heart right now with his heart swaying for madrid and his mind saying united.

I expect a huge twist in the next couple of days to be honest. Im off to bed after the 7777th post. I think I'm starting to develop OCD because of this shit.
