Thought I would post this, it is the information that UEFA have included with the official tickets. it might help answer a few questions for those of you who dont have tickets yet, and for those who are going to travel without them (will probably be most helpful to you).

There is the usual T&C bollocks but try and cut through it until you find the bits that are useful to you. Whether all of this gets enforced is anyones guess, but this is what UEFA have put in black and white. The bits highlighted in bold are what they have highlighted.

i think i agree. i was considering the ebay route but screw them the robbing bastards. rather watch it at home....oh well...some day...

Some(OK this far I've found one) of the sellers are saying that the tickets they are selling don't have any names or anything else, which might determinate the user of the ticket. Is this by any means possible or are only the 21,000 given to both clubs named??

There is no name on the ticket I got from Uefa. But the chip in the card holds all the info of the original buyer. The plan is that this ties in with their ID when they get to the stadium.

See my post above.

There is absolutely no chance that the police will be checking the data in the cards to the ID of fans. Anyone who has ever been to a Euro Away, final or not, will vouch for this.

There is always a first time for everything though, ralphie.

However, I fancy that you'll be proven correct as the police over there would have to turn away hundreds if not thousands of supporters if they did enforce the rules which would undoubtedly lead to a riot outside the stadium. That unseemly prospect will put them off enforcing the rules I would imagine.

I agree, same shit different game. They have always done this and I am sure they will continue to do it as well. It was said of Moscow last season also and there were a few ticket check points but it was so relaxed.

At the end of the day they know that to instigate the checks is near impossible in terms of logistics and time taken, also the stadium would only be half full if this were to happen. Possibly leading to a massive dent in the tv money if it became a regular occurance. The Champions League is what it is today and they won't want to feck with the formula too much.

Trust me, you will be able to get in with any ticket so long as it is real.

booked it packed it fooked off (just got to get tickets for the game now...shouldn't be a problem, should it?)

Funny I was paying £750 for 4,and that what made me suspicious. The fact that the money had to be paid into a bank in Bangkok and the seller though he advertised he did couldnt accept paypal, well began to get me really worried.Got alot of help from Stringerbell and illiades in the newbies who pm me with advice.Decided to contact ebay and got a reply from the so called seller who had never heard of the champions league and speciality was avon products.Ebay then pulled any tickets that were associated to her account and emailed me to that effect. This other chap meanwhile was still emailing me about this wire transfer, even sent me an offical ebay invoice.I replied I would only pay by paypal.A scam gentlemen?

There are a lot of scams on Ebay so watch out for anyone asking for bank transfers etc. I had my account hacked by some Latvian gang who 'sold' about €3,000 worth of rare books under my name before I realised what was going on - they target accounts with 100% positive history as many people think they must be legit.

I dead mole would have been able to spot that a mile off.

Let's try an alternative version of cynicism regarding the ID checks matching the 'smart ticket'...

If they do decide to implement this (at least in part) then I suspect UEFA would be much happier getting fans turned away from the club-allocated areas than from the 'neutral/corporate' sections. They'd then blame the fans' over-enthusiasm to obtain tickets leading to breaking the rules (even if exchanging at cost price) - rather than expose the probable source of expensive touted tickets from the rest of the 'football family'.

So, if UEFA had to prioritise areas where the checks had the requisite resources, where do you think they'd choose?

Probably wouldn't want to risk the crowd trouble amongst the real supporters though I'd hope.

The final statement is an important one here. The other thing to bear in mind is that many of the United contingent will be turning up very late. At every Euro away I've been to there have been crushes at the turnstiles even without ID checks. It is, as I've said, infeasible.

Also, if you're the Rome head of police and you have 2,000 pissed up United fans with legitimate tickets but no matching ID, do you want them (a) in the ground? or (b) romeing the streets outside.Second time I've used that pun today!

It won't happen simply as that.

Im sure ppl like Ralphie are probably right. They did say something like this in Moscow and we only got a quick ticket check before entering the area round ground.

But i wouldn’t like to be the one that says it will be 100% fine, only for someone on here to get checked and for an over zealous Roman copper to enforce it - especially as ppl are talking of paying silly prices for tickets. You never know, they may do a few check just to be seen to be making an effort.

Though i agree, it would take all day to do 70,000.

UEFA would just say that any delays getting in were therefore the fault of those fans - like the problems faced at the Emirates by the late arrivals after the actions of the criminal types.

Not sure the pun impoves with repetition though.

UEFA is under the spotlight here as they were in Moscow. Not a chance in hell they'd risk turning United fans with valid tickets away. There would be a fecking riot and UEFA would - rightly or wrongly - get blamed.

I must have been to over 50 games in Europe involving English teams in the last ten years. At around half of these I'd say there have been these sort of threats. And yet I have NEVER seen attempts to make ID checks at turnstiles.

All the Irish tour operators are pulling there flights as they wont hear about tickets until mid next week. Trying to book direct now, its a fecking joke with those greedy cnuts in Aer Lingus and Ryanair

Depending on budget can you not get over to Manchester and get on one of the tour operators direct flights here? Thomas Cook Sport for example is £418!!

I did - but was drunk enough after the game and celebrations that I forgot the next morning - only checked yesterday to see it again and remind me!

I was watching in a Utd/Celtic pub with a few other supporters. We were pretty happy from pretty early! :D

For those still looking for travel Aer Lingus from London to Nice then an overnight train to Rome is still pretty cheap apparantly. The flight is dirt cheap but I couldn't find any details about the overnight train.

I looked in to this also, it appears you need to get the train in to Turin/Milan and then down. There was no train that I could find that went straight there, kinda makes sense really as it is a right up to Italy and then down to Rome.

Still an option if you can be arsed with the trek.

I'm sorry that this is completely off track but i had the strangest dream last night. I was at the final, we were playing Chelsea for some reason and were drawing with 10 minutes to go. Manucho (?) comes off the bench and is sent running through on goal, he miss hits horribley from an angle but it falls kindly to the feet of Graham Onions (???) who puts it away and celebrates by sliding on his back. I need to lay off the cheese.

We're flying to Nice, then driving down to Rome, £110 ish pp for flights with Jet2 from liverpool and then £130 for car hire. Not to shabby, just the feck off long car journey to go through. Should be nice and Scenic. :)

If you're going to Nice, just hire a car. 7 hours on the autoroute - 30euro for the car hire if you drop it off in Rome.

Thats a lot of cash for a flight to Rome - my flights to Moscow were cheaper.

There are still flights with one stop that are cheap. I think Skyscanners is a good sight for searching these.

From Manchester you had to go to around 3 or 4 other countries to get to Moscow on the cheap, well when I was looking after the ballot results anyway. So I did the same thing then, paid £900 for the one day trip there and back.

feck it, its only money, for United there's Master Card :D

Thats the risk, do you get them early for cheap or wait until after the ballot results by which time they will have rocketed.

Im in London. I went via Vienna to Moscow. I reserved the flights a couple of days before the semi with a Russian travel company in London, then paid for them after we beat Barca.

This time i paid £120 return on easyjet to Rome - got them after the QF/Semi draw. Even if we had not got there, i could have changed them to another destination for £40. Or even changed the name and sold them for double to a Gooner. Those flights are now £850!!! I would rather drive than pay that.

Nice one mate, looking into it now.

Looking at the 7 main areas of Rome You dont know off hand what area would be the best for a hotel??

Im staying near the Piazza Navarro. Loads of bars round there and only 15 min bus/taxi to the Stadium.

To me, Rome seems quite a small city. Its easy to walk to most of the tourist sights anyway.
