Thats a good offer, only thing is though that the ballot results for the final are out on the Friday 15th May.

Though i guess someone may have a ticket through UEFA.

Lads and lassies,
I have a question. you know the tickets on ebay? how does that work?
I've a guy who had an ad that you have to e-mail an enquiry to, the seller is based in the US. He is offering me two Cat 1 tickets for 600 quid. Pricey i know but i'm considering it. Are these sellers legit?
He is telling me e-bay send an invoice and i pay e-bay rather than PayPal so its all legit. What do ye think?

I doubt 19k applied for Celtic away but I bet there are more than 19k that applied for at least 3 games (not inc. Celtic) that will be applying for the final.

I doubt people with 3 credits will get tickets never mind with 1.

I doubt that. We didn't sell out Inter away for a start. Also, not all those who applied for Celtic or Arsenal are going to go to Rome.

Decided on your plans yet? If you're joining us, we can get accomodation in the centre sorted for around 46euro each a night.

read the little booklet mate.

after reading mine, I believe the card/ticket allows free transport on buses and trains within rome from tues-thrus.

Tickets are not available from United yet so I do not have the booklet ;)

I just noticed it from the picture and wondered what it was. Good idea if it is free travel round Rome for the day of the game or whatever.

Someone might just have a better chance than me getting hold of a ticket. I opted out of the Carling cup, and only applied for a few aways in Europe.

Serves me right I suppose. They'll be more deserving fans.

Looking for some advice gents...

Have hotel and flights just about confirmed if I decide to go and risk it without a ticket. (749 euro direct flights and 2 nights in a shitehawk hotel from Dublin)

What are the realistic prospects of getting tickets over there? Alot of conflicting opinions out there. Have no problem lining some bastard tout pockets but it’s a pricy trip to go on and miss out on a ticket. Anyone in the same boat?

Any advice appreciated. Cheers

Well the proof is in the pudding as they say. My instinct is that it will take more than 1 credit for a european away application to get a ticket.

We can have a beer riding on the outcome :D

Still none the wiser about travel to be honest mate. Had a flight back from Milan to Heathrow lined up for 55 euro, but getting back from Rome to Milan for 6/7am was the problem and ruled that one out.

My mate is back in the country today so I will be able to check whether he can have the 3 days off or not. If not then it is the one day trip at £450. :(

Ouch. Thats harsh mate.

To be honest, i would have opted out of the Carling Cup, but i didnt incase we got to a Carling Cup final. Though i also had a feeling United would pull a fast one when it comes to FA Cup final tickets. Didnt expect them to do it for the CL - but you can never underestimate them.

Really, the Carling Cup should have nothing to do with Champs League applications.

I read on another forum there are 33,000 ST holders eligible.

I'll likely scrounge one of somebody, but I would really like to take my two sons, so three tickets would do me nicely.

I knew this would happen, so I paid for 4 carling cup games (£130 in total), and didnt go to any of the games. Only went to the final in Wembley. All this so that if United do get to the final, I am gauranteed a ticket.

No guarantees.

Yeah I saw that price from Milan to Heathrow on BA for 55 euros, but Easyjet from Rome to Milan was £250....ridiculous!

I have booked mine, which is Luton to Paris (Easy Jet), Paris to Rome (Vueling Airlines). Return is Rome to Venice (Ryan Air), Venice to Standstead (Ryan Air), all for £251. My mate booked his this morning and paid £340. So you could save £100 quid.

The timings are good, as no hotel needed, and you in London by 11am on Thursday

Come one Ralphie - what do you think then. How many credits do you think you will need?

How many of the 19,500 will go to Execs?

I beleive that 33,000 people are in the full acs (inc carling cup).

Is this true?? Can anyone confirm that? And if so then is it possible to chance the name on that ID??

Dont worry about names on tickets - they always go on about that but in my experience no one ever checks at the ground

i had written off going but a mate is confident of getting 2 from someone in the Execs so now I am considering it again!

Personalized tickets with chip

The new-design tickets will be similar to a bank card and will contain a chip holding the name, surname and identity number etc of the purchaser. At the stadium access points the same details (as supplied on the application form) will be stored. According UEFA, entry to the stadium will only be authorized on production of the ticket and a valid identity document with photograph.

It is very important to remember that tickets are personal and non-transferable and may not be sold, offered for sale or used for any promotional or commercial purpose. The police reserve the right to confiscate any ticket and to take measures against any person holding such tickets.

You just know the Roma Carabinieri will take great joy in taking tickets from English fans.

Well Ive been to many matches before (World Cups, last year CL Final etc) where they say they will check IDs and names on tickets and it has never been a problem - but I suppose there is a first time for everything !

I believe that at the Rome game last year, the police checked every ticket against passports.

If you didnt have a passport, you got turned away - even if you had another ID.

Though that was a few thousand United fans - may be harder to do it for everyone.

Remember, this is Rome - the police are under heavy scrutiny already. There is a new cheif of police and im sure he will want everything to go off without a hitch.

I would say you may be taking a risk buying on the black market, but who knows.

Seriously guys. What do you think of the tickets on ebay? Is it too big a risk?

They said they would do it for Moscow, but of course didn't.

I cannot see them checking every single ticket against ID, the ground would be two thirds full and a third empty. Plenty of people going without tickets.

Roodboy is correct.

They first made this claim for France 98. Then various other tournaments and United games (including finals).

THE ID CHECKS ON TICKETS WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I've said before that I reckon there will be people with 1 credit who will get tickets. Maybe I'm wrong, but I reckon if you have 2 credits you'll be fine.

Depends on how risk averse you are - I guess you'll be paying a lot of money!

The risk of getting a valid ticket but not getting in because your name isn't on it is minimal.
The bigger risk is probably getting ripped off by the ebay man and not getting the ticket at-all, but I've never bought a ticket of anythng like this value on ebay... I've been fine when I've bought tickets to see gigs, but I don't know about tickets to see Giggs!

Seriously guys. What do you think of the tickets on ebay? Is it too big a risk?

Firstly you need to have a non uk ebay account, as you wont be able to buy tickets as its illegal to sell/buy on ebay uk.

I had asked my cousin in America to open an account on his name, and then I used his account to buy tickets for the world cup in 2006. So unless you know someone is the States, then you can use thier account, otherwise forget about it.

I've said before that I reckon there will be people with 1 credit who will get tickets. Maybe I'm wrong, but I reckon if you have 2 credits you'll be fine.

Only have 1 credit.

Only in standard ballott though, fecks sake:(

I've got flights anyways, so I'll be in Rome, probably just not in the stadium :(

A lot

Anyone who went to the Roma games know which hotels are decent?....rooms are going fast now

If these stories are true it's a sorry state of affairs. These procedures will just end up causing more trouble, and heartache outside the ground.

Why can't people buy tickets for family, friends, or from official travel/sports companies?

Dont ask me mate. Its not my policy.

Two of my mates are looking to get some and are not ST holders so i hope its crap.

United are saying.....

Tickets for the game will be access cards which will be linked to the details that are provided in the travel report. The in-design tickets will be similar to the Season Ticket access cards and will contain a chip containing the first name, surname, D.O.B and Nationality of the supporter. Those same details (as supplied on your Season Ticket and travel report) will then be stored at the stadium’s turnstiles. According to UEFA, entry to the stadium will only be permitted on production of the ticket and a valid identity document with photograph. Supporters are therefore advised to have their passport with them at the game as proof of identity. It is imperative that supporters quote the details of the travelling supporter’s passport when completing the travel report.

Its prob just UEFA trying to scare off the touts, but i wouldnt be too pleased to get to the gate and be turned away.

It's utter utter bollocks. UEFA and FIFA come up with this bollocks every time and United, I suppose, feel obliged to tag along (despite the fact that they know there are thousands of Season Tickets that are under the same names).

The Roma Carabinieri at the turnstiles turning people who have not got their passport away from the ground? IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
