All-Ireland Championships '09

Suppose it was a good win for the T'rone men, but come on CL, you can't say the Derry men wouldn't care about relegating the old enemy! Nice to see the loup man pulling a penalty save out of the bag too!

We'll take any win at home, esp since we've been brutal, but i thought we finished strongly & thats very encouraging against a good Doire side!

Reckon i could of saved that peno - even me Ma could of saved that aswell :)

You're a hard football man Mr PJ.... a hard football man indeed :D

Bit like poker PJ we dont want to show our hand too early and actually rested players for this match.I dont mind losing to Tyrone in the national league this year because Tyrone and the rest of Ulster wont know what hits them this summer.I am strangely very very confident of silverware this summer

We've rested players every match & blooded new lads aswell, thats what Doire should have done imo, as our lads will be fresh for bigger battles ahead!

As for silverware - you can have this: http://www.walshbrothers.co.uk/Update/knives.htm

The office down here in Derry is very quiet today RHD. Lol Alot of sour faces. Lovely score by Hughes at the end IMO. Looking forward to the championship now, So will the dubs be able to stay up? It's looking like a very good round of fixtures. Don't fancy a run to Cork next year though.

Yeah i can imagine, its not the end of the world though, different story if it had of been a Championship game, they've played well this year, so they shouldnt be too depleated tbh!

Hughes gotta nice point alright, I loved Seany's late beauty though, twas delightful!

Dubs need to beat Westmeath & hope Donegal lose or its curtains. Gilroy's gettin a bitta stick from the Dubs though, and if they get relegated then they could sack him as they play Meath in the Championship. They got a pretty good result against Kerry at the weekend, 1-15 is a very good score, so maybe that'll help him out!

Looking forward to beating Armagh :)

Enjoy your run out to Cork there might not be too many trips for you boys this year

We'll see if your over-confidence has any merit CL. He who laughs last & all that.... :)

I tell you Red Hand this is the year the phoenix rises from the ashes.Besides Mickey Harte is too busy getting condoms banned to concentrate on football.Fancy him for next Pope when he gives up mangement which I expect will happen after we beat youse in the Ulster semi final,Im extra confident Doire abu

Not true Red Hand ,Im dealing with fact that Liverpool rabble are dealing with fantasy.Thankfully the quadruple will be in the cabinet before this Derry/Tyrone thing really gets going.;)

I was very impressed watching the highlights of the Galway v Tipp match. Very entertaining. Unlucky for Galway but it was well deserved for Tipperary. Hopefully they will make a game of it in the final.

Hope you're right CL

We have the best of all worlds in this Country eh. We have the Football & all its rollercoaster ways during the winter till May & then the All-Ireland Championship - gotta love being Irish :)

jesus , where has this thread been hiding?

Been here since October man, glad you can join the party as the Gaa year starts to heat up :)

Big game for you's boys against Meath at Crokers - 1st rd of the Leinster!

Its actually a double-header with Dublin versus Antrim in the Senior Hurling aswell, so it should be a wicked day out

Very entertaining watchin the handbags fly around in that major scuffle in the first half & only a couple of yellow cards dished out - fecking class that was :D

Didnt see the rest of the game but it most certainly seemed a good one with only 2pts separating the Tipp win: Galway 1-15 Tipperary 1-17

Any wonder the Irish drink as much, its all too stressful

Man i'm always saying that shit. Said it yesterday in the boozer watching United - "any fecking wonder i always drink when United are on..." Half the bar agreed too :)

Was working behind the bar yesterday listening to a load of scouse slabbers, went home at 5 so didnt get to rub their noses in it,but I shall shortly

Nothin worse than scouse slabbers - they have absolutely no class with any part of life!

CL - Rejoice in the knowledge that they will be sick as feck after what happened yest mate, they are probably more sick than what we would of been if we had of lost - FACHT :D

Stevie O'Neill set to be fit for Armagh

Thank feck for that. We missed him greatly. Was a heartbreaking having him play superbly then he gets injured again!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Former Footballer of the Year Stephen O'Neill should be ready for Tyrone's Ulster SFC opener against Armagh.

The All-Ireland champions meet the Ulster kingpins at Clones on May 31 and O'Neill is on course to be ready for that key date.

The Clann na nGael clubman has been sidelined with a knee injury since his outstanding performance against Dublin at Croke Park, but manager Mickey Harte is hopeful he'll be available for the crunch championship opener:

"He's coming on well. He's recovering well. He's back training with us now, not with full intensity but as the weeks go on that will improve. He won't be ready for the Mayo game, but he should be ready for the championship."

Tyrone also hope to have Pascal McConnell, Brian Dooher, Enda McGinley and the McMahon brothers fit and ready for the championship.

Happy with Clones Red Hand?

Yeah happy enough man. Healy Park isnt exactly a fortress for us, so playing away from there doesnt bother me one bit!

Crokers would of been sweet though. I'd have better chance of going to that game than making the trip up to Monaghan, i probably wont be able to get a ticket for it, but Crokers i would of had no problem!

I dont know the ins & outs of the decision to play at St Tiernach's, & Mickey Harte isnt a happy bunny, but going on what the Ulster Council said as regards to demand for tickets, Crokers may well have been pretty empty, so they probably had no choice in the end!

Another national league final for Derry, not too bad considering we didnt want to be in it.Anyhow it will give us some practise lifting silverware before the summer.Tyrone fortunate not to be relegated I see

Fab performance by the Farney men against a disinterested Laois yesterday. Div1 next yr + cork in final in 2 wks.
However, I'm looking forward to our 1st rd. joust with Derry ......... should be a cracker!........ and whoever emerges victorious, I would really fancy for Uster!

 You's wont beat Kerry

All-Ireland final is where its at mate. National League final's are like the Carling Cup by comparison!

Dont agree that Derry didnt want to be in it, there was alot of very delighted Derry footballers at the end of the Donegal game, even Cassidy said it was great that they're in a position to defend it!

Tyrone did enough to stay in the division, played some good football at times & blooded a helluva lot more players than any other County. Derry only lost one game less than us & Galway should of been in the final on merit & on performance levels!

Still amazed that folk dont take the Tyrone threat seriously - ah well, we're not afraid of anyone & we've proved that time & time again when the real business of winning Sam begins!

Yeah good performance mate & well done on topping the Division against some traditionally very good sides. Good luck against Cork & i expect a very tough game for Derry in the Anglo-Celt, although the Derry lads seem to think they'll walk everything this year - feck know's where they get that idea from, they've been beaten by the two best sides in the Country already & thats only the league - Sams a different prospect as is Ulster!

Where you been Red Hand?you have been a bit quiet. You will no doubt eat a large helping of humble pie which I will supply free of charge in a fortnights time.Quite remarkable we are in Final considering we rested both Doherty and Bradley, reputedly our two best players for the Donegal match.Cassidy despite what he said does not give two hoots about the NL.As I said before it is the summer we are interested in and the lowering of the red hand flag.LOL.Going to Manchester before the end of the season?

Funny fecker - with all due respect :D

I've been up North for Easter man, very busy at work & on a course etc.. so i'd no real time to jump on the net to talk to you's boys unfortunately!

Humble Pie -++ and one for luck

Good luck with the Kerry game tho, if you beat them i'd be a very surprised man but then again you did last year, so there maybe another Ulster hoodoo over them this year again!

I think Ulster would much rather see the masculine figure of heroic Hugh O'Neill's red hand hanging proudly as Champions of Ireland, as opposed to an Oak leaf - sure thats as gay as feck, nevermind Ireland not having any Oak trees left - Derry feckers chopped them all down eh

I dont think i'll get over to Manchester as i'm looking for a new place to live man, so money's gonna be tight, but you never know, i'll be gutted if i dont though. I'd love make the Champs Final if we make it though - it might be more realistic as its further down the line. Regardless - please God we get there!

Tell you what if we are lucky enough to make Rome and you make the trip I will buy you a drink over there ,would love it if we make it.Not too worried about the national league final to be honest, not even going to it.I have decided to nip over to the Portsmouth match instead
