All-Ireland Championships '09

Tyrones fitness is a big part of their game. Good win yesterday . Was great to see a team like Antrim make it to the Ulster final though. Ranked 9th out of the 9 Ulster teams. This should give hope to any team anywhere in the country that 15 men can beat any other 15 on their day when every man gives 100%.

Also on a side note - Donegal beating Derry??? I work in Donegal here with alot of ones from Derry and they were so confident on Friday that they would beat Donegal easily. I had a wee chuckle to myself Saturday evening I must say. Not really at Derry, but at Spillane the week before bigging them up as one of the top sides in Ireland.

Antrim are rated 9th of of 9 in Ulster? I didn't know that...

Kerry might give them an awful hiding though.

Yeah well according to league status. Hard to know... Antrim are full of confidence while Kerry are finding it tough at the moment...and losing kieran donaghy is a big blow.

Antrim are an awful team who got a bit lucky and I suppose in fairness played above themselves. Some got carried away but there was no chance they would ever get close to beating Tyrone, who on the day actually struggled more than I thought.Kerry will eat them for breakfast

Kerry should eat them for breakfast but they'l probably only manage to get about 500 fans to go to the game...doesn't help.

I'd love it if they did beat Kerry. You'd have to think Kerry have too much to fall back on to lose though.

I don't think it's Kerry's Sam this year.

You are right of course, they usually show up for the All Ireland final and believe it or not, alot leave before the match is over even when they are about to lift Sam,sad indeed

What do people make of this, set to return 120 euro

Offaly to beat Antrim
Dublin Hurlers to beat Limerick
Galway to beat Waterford

and a local match that I know will go my way.

Still though CL, Kerry football faithful are very clued in & incredibly respectful to most Counties including my own. Their problem is that they've been spoiled over the years & the expectations of the County are to atleast reach the final every year, thats some pressure for the players & the management but what also must be said is that some of the players walk around thinking they're royalty because of this - Galvin for example & Mahony has had his moments too...

I'm not having a dig at you CL, but I dont think its fair to pour too much scourn on Kerry fans, they're well behaved & largely good fun to be around, same cant be said for other Counties - Armagh springing to mind!

Yeah all shaked hands with me after any game we've beat them and were gracious in defeat. After the last all ireland i some girl managed to get me to swap jerseys after a serious feed of booze in coopers....woke up the next morning with a small kerry top on me and my tyrone jersey is about dingle somewhere lol!

Good man RHD there's a lot worse crowd than us! Certainly wouldn't rule out Antrim though with the way we're playing and dropping Gooch might not do wonders for morale but we'll wait and see! Big performance not just a victory is needed.

Quarter Final Draw

Saturday, August 1st - Limerick v Meath - Portlaoise - 7pm.

Sunday, August 2nd - Cork v Donegal - Croke Park - 2pm
Sunday, August 2nd - Tyrone v Kildare - Croke Park - 4pm.

Monday, August 3rd - Dublin v Kerry - Croke Park - 2pm.

As good a time as any for Dublin to play Kerry.

Much respect to the Dublin Hurlers again. Fantastic stuff at times yesterday. Lack of experience did them in the end. Daly deserves alot of credit, done a super job this season. Ger Loughnan's offspring have had impressive season this year

Agreed on both points. The Dubs need to put this Kerry side to the sword as its been far too long since our last victory over the Kingdom (37 years?) As for the hurlers well this run can do nothing but improve them. They showed good skill and a lot of fight. With more u21s and minors coming through to push the current squad hopefully this year is a stepping stone to a possible semi final place in the next 5 years.

Here are my picks to make the football semi's. They will all be close games & you could have a situation, where I could be a 100% wrong, and it would'nt be a major suprise either!

Mayo look ready to step up to the next level, so they should just about account for Lims/Royals... Mayo.

I think everybody's 2nd favs., Cork have peaked way too soon, while Donegal are building serious momentum. Donegal.

Very interesting one this, Kildare are a serious team, probably the team of Chmsp. so far....... If Tyrone are to fall at all, it could be here. However, they will garner / use all their experience & cunning to march towards retaining Sam. Tyrone..... (probable eventual Champs!)

The old firm of Gaelic Football. Two teams that have gone in the opposite direction. Six months ago, Dubs looked to be in decline, while many were tipping Kerry to regain Sam. Pat Gilroy has revitalized the Dubs. Dublin.

I agree with all those. Though if Kerry do make it past Dublin...then they should be feared.

Not going to be a great week for the CARR name, expect Cavan to part company with Tommy Carr before the weekend!

Yeah, but he's not going without a fight by the looks of it!

http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=115694

Incidently, I heard yesterday that a few Cavan players went to Oxegen the night before the Wicklow game on the 11th July. I know its an amateur game (by all accounts) but what a bunch of dickheads doin that, if they'd won then they'd be given a bitta slack but they lost, so the players involved & whoever gave them the go-ahead must take the rap!

I'd say Carr must have known about this, therefore he gave approval!

nah Im saving for my holidays, some green for the weekend and a house
(all in that order!!!)

I can give you a lend of a Dublin jersey if your brave enough?

Thats some list man. Personally, i'd have in this order:

(1) some green for the weekend

(2) holidays

(3) house

Although, after smoking far too much green Option (1), then Options (2) + (3) would just disappear & be a distant memory maaaaaaaaaaaan :wenger:

Well the best of luck with the match mate - may the best team win

Incidently, have you noticed that dude "Anderson Searl" is some lying shitebag?!:lol::lol:

Tyrone will easily on Sunday and I fancy the dubs on Monday.I suppose I better wish RHD good luck even though it kills me to say it,good luck RHD

 Goodman yourself CL - thanks for that

I dont think it'll be that easy CL - hope you're right of course, but I think it could be more open. I'm pretty cautious about these type of games!

Anyway, i'm gonna leg it from work now & getta a pint into me - bank holiday weekend afterall & it would be rude not to :)

Have a goodun

nobody else going to Dublin - Kerry? Should be a good buzz, hopefully a good crowd travel from the Kingdom ...

I always forget about this thread

Congrats to Kerry final score 1-24 to 1-07.

Again Dublin believe their own hype, waiting for it to happen rather than forcing it. Worst defeat since the 70's tells it own story. To think Dublin were favourites for this is mental. Kerry show again there class in Croke Park. Glad to see the back of Ciaran Whelan should have been send off for yet another elbow. Classless prick

well done to kerry, they were fecking amazing today such a top class performance from them

Dublin were a disgrace. I have heard so much in last 4 hours saying how great Kerry were. Dublin had a mental breakdown. No question about it.

Hope kerry and Tyrone go no further. Hate them

Have been telling people for a month now not to write meath off. Good young squad of gifted hard players. If they get over Mayo - they'll give Kerry a good run for it.

just back, same ol same ol.

We didn't show up again, and again we were beaten mentally, just like the last 4 years.

Tyrone four years ago was the only 'football' match we've lost in ages.

Just have a huge mental problem.

On top of that neither of the two we started with in midfield are good enough.

Cullen is a slow bastard and his football brain is too frequently switched to 'hollywood'.

We tried to put the icing on a cake that didn't exist every time we got the ball, which wasn't very often.

I was embarrassed to be wearing blue there today and I drove 140 miles to get there and just drove 140 miles home.

I left after an hour today. I've never done that before.

And next year they can feck off. I'm supporting Sligo.

And I hope Kerry get fecking stuffed by somebody .... anybody.

Tyrone for me now.

Diarmuid Connolly and Ross McConnell have cntributed nothing to this whole campaign.

David Henry looked like he was dragged out of bed to make up the numbers today.

Cluxton seemed to be trying to find a Kerryman with his fiorst half kickouts.

Alan Brogan looked ok but he's not going to beat anyone on his own.

Whelan looked our best player and despite his age is worth 10 Ross McConnells - that lad should be fecking ashamed of himself.

We couldn't even foul them we were so bad.

That game was a shock.Cant figure out whether Kerry were that good or Dublin that bad.It does appear that Kerry have got the monkey of their backs and if they keep repeating that form no one will beat them
