David Gill and Giampaolo Pozzo visit El Rumpo in Barcelona, Ramblas street.

I dont see whats so hard to believe. Sure Gills said he's gonna be busy gettin players in:

Manchester United Official Web Site - Chief executive David Gill expects busy summer

"It will be a busier than usual summer this year," Gill told MUTV.

"I will be going away at some point in June and be back for the start of our tour but I will be on with player stuff for the next few weeks I am sure."

Sure he expects a busy summer. He's 3 players to buy and some to sell, not to mention the contract renewals that are due this year. We've already bought 3 players so this player buying stuff's not going to go on just for the fun of it.

Even if he is in Europe atm it doesn't mean he's over there to negotiate Sanchez though. Most of our deals are done quietly, not in full glare of the media with agents trying to suggest massive bidding wars at every given opportunity. You should know that by now.

He's also going on holiday the last week or so in June so he's probably doing a bit of selling now while he has time.

See youve made me bring out the angry panda!

Because some players are too special to pass the opertunity of signing.

We sacrificed a world class striker in Van Nistelrooy to bring the best out of Ronaldo. What's to say we're not prepared to make the same sort of sarifice for Sanchez?

Left wing: Pure attacking options; Young, Nani and Sanchez. Defensive minded; Park.

Right wing: Pure attacking options; Sanchez and Nani. Defensive Minded; Valencia.

Forward: Sanchez, Young and Rooney

We seem to be so afraid as United fans to believe that we could have such a strong squad because it's "muppet like" to believe we could keep so many top players happy. We're a squad club now and have proven we can offer planty of games to players over the course of a season so rather than having a second grade replacement to fill in for whoever is injured, with the 25 man sqaud rule it is better to have a top quality replacement or someone that can bring something different to the table.

Ferguson has made it his quest to bring this team up to Barcelona's level. You don't do that by thinking "oh we could never keep that quality player if we signed that quality player".

I agree with much of that, but I don't think Sanchez falls into that "cannot pass up" category, not when there are bigger priorities to sort out within the team

This is no ordinary deal tho is it?

Sanchez is the most sought after player of this transfer window, so i'd expect every club to abandon their normal procedures if it meant gettin a player of this quality. Gill will have to do his job first & then he'll go on hols.

He's already seemily got Young & Jones deals sorted & a good possibility for De Gea aswell. Its only the 15th June aswell!

Gills in Barca gettin this deal sorted - sure there's a photo of him with Pozzo that AdzzUtd posted. Stop being so pesimistic my dear boy

Given the opportunity I'm sure Gill would prefer this. But if you are in for a player and the selling club turns it into an auction and exposes it in the media, should the club just walk away?

Aren't they dressed a bit warm for Barcelona in June?

David carries all his money in his jacket, which has several pockets. He has £27,000,000 stuffed in that jacket and an extra £5,000,000 down his trouser leg incase City show up.

They didn't show up.

Just off the phone, sanchez story is definitely false, I'd put money on it. Don't know where's he headed but its not #mufc

Make of it what you will. But I believe we're not in for him, as I mentioned before we don't even need to be. Udinese just want cash & I wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez does too.

South American superstar determined to join Man Utd

If anyone at Manchester United had their ego bruised by the brusqueness with which Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil brushed aside speculation that the Premier League champions wanted to sign him, then Wednesday’s gossip should cheer them up.

The Daily Mirror are claiming that Alexis Sanchez, arguably the star attraction on this summer’s transfer merry-go-round, has decided that Manchester United are the club for him as he prepares to leave Udinese having led them into the Champions League.

Making the potential signing even sweeter for the Red Devils is the fact that neighbours Manchester City and Champions League Final conquerors Barcelona are known admirers of the 22-year-old and both at one stage looked like completing a swoop for him.

The Chilean forward, who first impressed on a global stage at last year’s World Cup, is expected to cost around £27 million if the 19-time title winners are able to close a deal, despite prior reports that Udinese were hoping to pocket £35 million.

It was suggested over the weekend that Sir Alex Ferguson had phoned Sanchez in an attempt to convince him to ignore the interest of Barcelona and head to Old Trafford and the latest rumours indicate that the player listened closely.

His arrival would be a huge show of intent by Manchester United after a disappointing end to an otherwise great season and would strengthen their position as 7/4 title favourites, as well as potentially boosting their 6/1 Champions League odds.

What it would mean for the future of several current stars is unclear though. Sanchez can operate out wide or as a second striker so his capture would give Nani and Dimitar Berbatov reason to panic, especially as Ashley Young is also anticipated to join.

Interestingly, Sanchez is still priced at 5/1 to be at Manchester United come September, with Manchester City (6/4), Barcelona (3/1) and Udinese (7/2) all considered more likely homes.

The guy you quoted is the one that claimed were were signing Benzema and Gourcuff....

Let's look at some facts.

Nani just had his best season to date with us.

Rooney-Hernandez partnership looks very promising.

Welbeck and cleverley coming back from loan.

Already well stocked on the wings.

Rooney enjoying some of his best form playing the deep lying #10 role.

Now tell me why some people on here want to sacrifice pretty much all of that so that we can spunk our transfer budget on Sanchez and leave a large gaping hole in central midfield, already deemed by most as the weakest area of our squad.

Please tell me, because I'm having this discussion with some guys from work and it is annoying me now.

Post of the summer for me so far. Exactly how I see it

WE NEED A CENTRAL MIDFIELDER....

And that source is about as credible as Geebs. Fantastic, he's announced 3 players that we're almost definite to sign in Young, Jones and De Gea which we already know. Smells like bullshit, looks like bullshit, more then likely is bullshit.

I'm not saying he's true, but he's got about as much proof that we want / don't want Sanchez as everybody else has. There's no guaranteed facts that we want him, that Gill was actually in Barcelona yesterday or that we've even agreed a fee. It's speculation left, right and centre.

What i'm saying is that I feel we don't need him, but i'm not Fergie, I don't run the team & I'm happy with what ever decision he makes. Yesterday morning City had him, now it's United. Nothing can believed until a club comes out and makes an announcement on a deal themselves.

Where's you facts? Are you going to provide us with some direct quotes? A photo of Gill meeting his reps!?

Everything smells like bullshit in this transfer. As I mentioned nothing is guaranteed, he could end up anywhere still... I just wouldn't be keeping my hopes up that he signs.
