Alexis Sanchez | Udinese: No Deal Yet

It was Gazzetta who originally reported that United representatives met with Udinese in Barcelona yesterday, and they're at least significantly less inclined to make things up than The Sun.

But still inclined to do so. As far as I can see, the 'Gill in Barcelona' shit has come from the Mirror/Sun. Probably because they read the Gazzetta yesterday. And as usual, the other rags then pick it up and run with it, too. Snowball City.

It is not being reported as anything other than gossip on the BBC, Sky Sports, F365, etc. Certainly not as 'fact.'

So one minute it is "We never sign anyone, blame the Glazers, we have no money", and the next it is "We don't need X player, we have too many".

Sometimes you just can't win!

Or it could be that it's different people saying those things.

You do know the caf is not full of one person posting of thousands of different ID's right? :)

Sell Berba & Diouf.. Loan Welbeck for another season and then bring him back the season after to replace the hopefully outbound Owen..

Rooney, Hernandez, Sanchez, Owen, Macheda.

Racist - there's no left-footers :smirk:

Cant really think of any out & out strikers that are left-footed - apart from that shit-bag Carroll & he doesnt count!

SSN this time yesterday reported from their Italian source that we were meeting with Udinese

I dont see whats so hard to believe. Sure Gills said he's gonna be busy gettin players in:

Manchester United Official Web Site - Chief executive David Gill expects busy summer

"It will be a busier than usual summer this year," Gill told MUTV.

"I will be going away at some point in June and be back for the start of our tour but I will be on with player stuff for the next few weeks I am sure."

I'd rather we went this way too. Sell Berbatov now, get Sanchez & Young and keep Nani.

Selling Berbatov would also meen Welbeck get the promotion he deserves.

I think Welbeck is very deserving, plus a few other youngsters coming through, so for that reason I really don't see the sense in signing both Young and Sanchez who would be competing for attacking places - even in the event of us selling the Tov.

Let's look at some facts.

Nani just had his best season to date with us.

Rooney-Hernandez partnership looks very promising.

Welbeck and cleverley coming back from loan.

Already well stocked on the wings.

Rooney enjoying some of his best form playing the deep lying #10 role.

Now tell me why some people on here want to sacrifice pretty much all of that so that we can spunk our transfer budget on Sanchez and leave a large gaping hole in central midfield, already deemed by most as the weakest area of our squad.

If we had a choice of one player in the world to sign, it would be Messi, right?

Well Sanchez is probably the player who is the most similar to Messi. Great acceleration, dribbling, close control, can pick a pass and scores a few too.

Now i'm not suggesting he is as good as Messi, but he is a very similar type of player who can do things on his own and is not necessarily dependent on service. Players like those are few and far between and we have an opportunity to sign one. If that means if either of Valencia, Nani or Young fall
down the pecking order then so be it.

It is up to them to rise to the challenge.

Have we got any fans on the forum who live near Gill and can keep a daily check on his movements to and from his house?

Would sure help us to knock some of these rumours on the head...

Tbh man, the rumours arent that plenty & there's been quotes - posted on here from Udinese officials & Sanchez' agent to back it up. Its the same thing - meetings in Barcelona yesterday (Udinese owner lives there) with City, United (Gill & Co.) & Barca officials. Meetings finished & Udinese are off to Italy to meet with Italian Clubs - Inter & Juve supposedly!

There's nothin far-fetched about that, dont see what all the fuss is about, its pretty straight-forward!

Well this has all gone boringly quiet now, wheres all the twitter excitement gone? reports from Chile?? anything???
The most exciting news from today is that Udinese's scheduled meeting with Juve has been cancelled because Pozzo the Younger stayed behind in Barcelona, or something like that. There is bound to be lots of interesting speculation as to why soon enough.

Can anyone just imagine how the city Boardroom would react should we pull this off and steal their number 1 target?

@DavidGillMUFC
contrary to reports I was nowhere near Barcelona yesterday! Sanchez is a player that interests us but we are working with the manager to bring in players that we feel will benefit the team immediately. It is not an area of the team that we are currently looking to strengthen, we are looking at other areas. #MUFC

fecking sures - well said

I call bullshit, it doesn't even make sense, concentrating on players who'd improve the team immediately? so whats the phil jones deal all about then? and are you saying Ashley Young benefits the team immediately and Sanchez wouldn't.

Nah i think someone's taking the piss.
