Not sure why Barcelona would want to sign him AND Rossi.
They end the cover and competition for Messi, Villa and Pedro.
Affelay alone is not enough. Jeffren and Bojan are a major drop in quality in comparison Villa and Pedro. Getting in Rossi and Sanchez world solve that problem for Barca know they won't escape for another season with a thin squad, with what Jose is doing at Real.

Sanchez deserves more than being just cover. Anyway they ( Marca) have changed their story slightly from this morning. The bit about him signing today has gone and changed to Barca are trying to wrap it up quickly, to then just going into other reports about the story from Italy.

But surely none of them would be 100% starters in that team and spending 30-40Mil on both of these players would be quite expensive for Barcelona.

Don't see the problem at all myself, we regularly leave out of the first XI at least a £100m of talent every match. Barca have been lucky with a lack of injuries to their first XI but if they had to go through a period of a few injuries, their lack of strength in depth would be exposed.

Actually the owner of Udinese has said that the reports saying that deal between Sanchez and Barcelona has been completed are false.

Udinese have released a statement insisting “there is no agreement with Barcelona for Alexis Sanchez, nor are any meetings planned.”

President Franco Soldati was quoted as saying Sanchez already agreed terms with the Blaugrana for a summer switch, which would be imminent.

“With regards to the statements attributed to be about a supposed transfer of Sanchez to FC Barcelona, I wish to point out these are without foundation,” wrote Soldati on the official club website.

“There is no agreement between Udinese and Barcelona for the sale of this player. It should also be noted no meetings are planned between the two clubs to discuss any such transfer.”

Game On!

Huzzah!

We should have pulled out all the stops last Summer. He's going to go on to be fecking huge.

My inner muppet really does need satisfying. I never had myself down as a muppet but I just wrote the following and felt I should add this piece of text at the start.....

I genuinely thought after Barcelona spanked us that we would be aiming for players of Sanchez's pedigree to take us up a level rather than players like Young.

Stop fooling yourself. Deep down inside every member on here knows how this ( and every other) transfer window starts and ends.

1." Muppet show/ Cocks out" : United linked with every star and semi star with half a decent YouTube compilation and up and coming youngsters with exotic names like; Rigobertu Barrabas, Sumit Natas, Sigfried Hundertwasser and Blzashozk Duzcsdhkassplka.

2."Sky Sports understands" : Endless amount of articles and/or tweets with quotes from the agent, the " representative", the father, the brother, the "agent brother" and " undisclosed sources".

3." Muppet suicide/ Cocks inn" : Linked star/ semi star player either; A: Signs a new, improved contract, or B: Signs for Barcelona/ Real Madrid/ Bayern Munich. ( the exotic named youngster is granted eternal life as FM folklore)

4." Oh well, will strengthen the squad" : United sign 1 or 2 decent, if somewhat unglamorous, players from mid table Premier league teams and a totally unknown foreigner.

5." Told you so" : Said players proves to be big hits. United win the league and reaches the semis or the final of Champions league.

Yes we all know this, we are currently at stage 2, so kindly let us get on with the cycle if you please.

Even though he is made for United he won't come. More fool him perhaps, but it will be Barca or Inter, irrespective of what the Udinese chairman says now.

its all about bring one GREAT player and other will follow. Remember few summers ago. Real signed KAKA, Ronnie, Alsonso, Benzema, Carvalho... it all started with them getting KAKA and the others followed. If we can get first big STAR soon. We get them all. Sign Sanchez now, tommorrow it will be Modric, Sneijder, Rodwell, Pato all following Sanchez lead.

....you forgot the 'arsefecked by barca' step. step 6 i believe.

the time we didn't, was when we signed 1 established english international from a massive foreign club, 1 extremely talented south american, and 2 highly rated latin youngsters (one who was rated the best player in the 2005 u17 world cup).

Don't know about you, but my arse is sore from having catalan cock tiki-taking it.

But Real's splurge was financially backed by people with money. We're in a shitload of debt. Just consider the wages, agent's fees etc with such players.

And Pato? Do me a favour.

 Anyhow, I just hope he ends up at a club that let him fulfil his potential. A joy to watch when he's given some space.

Ehm...no... - if you are willing to pay what it takes, you get the best players.

If Ferguson puts £35 mil for Sanchez he gets him - regardless of that - he will get Sneijder if he puts £40 mil on the table...regardless of which he will get Gareth Bale if he puts £50 mil on the table

But we haven't got that money to spend......

You better get lubed up then cause signing a german speaking Canadian, loaning a player from West Ham and hitting on a " buy one, get one free" bargain probably wont work twice.

Manchester United are closing in on Ashley Young, David De Gea and Phil Jones but they have had bad news on striker Alexis Sanchez.

United, Chelsea and Barcelona will have to pay a stunning £30million to sign the Chilean star - after Udinese slapped a new fee on his head.

Top 10 things you need to know about Alexis Sanchez plus video of his goals

The Italian club are willing to sell the attacking midfielder to the highest bidder but slapped the sky-high figure on his head yesterday as the race reached a climax.

Champions United are prepared to pay £25million for Sanchez - seen as the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes - but they are backing off as Udinese raise the bar.
Ferguson has been told there is cash available, but the Old Trafford outfit do not want to pay the full asking price in one of the biggest transfer tussles of the summer.

Chelsea supremo Roman Abramovich has also told Udinese to count him into the bidding, with the Stamford Bridge club renewing their interest after failing to sign Sanchez in the last window.

Even Barcelona are struggling to pay the £30million and have offered three different players - Jeffren, Jonathan Soriano and even Bojan Krkic as potential makeweights.

Sanchez's agents are in Barcelona just now, but they have spoken with United and Chelsea. However Manchester City, who made the early running, have been told the player does not want to join them.

Now three of the super powers of the game are jostling to agree the deal, while the exciting Serie A star waits in his homeland ahead of the Copa America.

Italian sides Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen, but the South American wants to try a new league and experience.

Udinese chief Franco Soldati said: "We have had contact with Manchester United and Manchester City, but at the moment Barcelona have made the best proposal."
Mirror, but it had to be posted for the bit in bold.
