Alexis Sanchez | Udinese: No Deal Yet

Yes, makes perfect sense, Inter let us buy Sneijder and release his natural replacement at the same time to purchase a winger that they don't even play with most of the time.

Marco Branca has said that they (Inter) will be trying to get Sanchez and Sahin this summer. So thats the first confirmed interest.

Todays bollocks is that Barca want get him and Tevez. The full Inter story apparently has us buying Sneijder, Inter buying Sanchez with Coutinho as part of the deal.

I d be happy with that deal - us getting Sneidjer and Inter getting Sanchez.

Holster your cocks, gents.

So Alexis Sanchez today played as the attacking midfielder in a very free role. He was marked out of the game quite well though. Anyway the point is, the king is right again.

 brilliant. The transfer "Market" as a competition in it own right.

I'm starting to think some of you 'tards could take or leave the whole playing football aspect of following a football team.

So true. I get the feeling some of them only live for the summer and january, in the hope that the new wonder kid they saw in that YouTube compilation will be signed by United. All that winning matches and supporting the players the club already has is an unnecessary distraction.

I've said it before, but if they want a club with the money to afford to chase every flavor of the week then they should follow City.

He played up front and dropped off like he normally does. Not sure what he did in the second half as I stopped watching. In the first half though he had a few problems with his back to goal unable to take the ball in. When he came deeper to collect the ball facing goalwards he had a nice dribble that was cut out when he tried to go between 2 players in the box. And he had a very unlucky effort from 20 yards just wide

He played deeper throughout the second half as an attacking midfielder. The first hlf he was mostly on the left wing. ither way he basically had a free role.

Nah, he was up front with Di Natale. He wandered like he always did, popping up left, right and in the pocket of space in front of midfield but he was partnering Di Natale.

If that changed in the second half fair enough, at 2-0 down I imagine they probably did change it.

No he wasn't, what match did you watch?

The one where Alexis Sanchez had a good 3 of 4 incidents where he tried to take the ball with his back to goal in the middle of the pitch, just outside the box and had trouble doing so.

Its hard to do that from left wing it really is, but who knows what left wing really means to you? Afterall "attacking midfield" seems to mean striker.

And striker to you seems to mean the man playing in the middle of the field picking the ball up in his own half and drifting over to the wings or trying to link up with the strikers. The majority of the first half he ended up playing on the left wing.

So Rooney has been playing left wing this season eh

Its called playing support striker or, depending how deep you are on average playing in the hole. He's playing that exact same position.

No because Rooney hasbeen playing support striker when he's been on the left. Sanchez has also been playing support striker a lot this season but today he played as an attacking midfielder.

Thats a load of rubbish and the only people who are going to believe it are those who havent watched the match. He played central with the freedom to drift left and right as he has done for months. But contrary to what you've said, he was dominantly in the middle just behind Di Natale.

Its the same as any player playing just off the front man whether you want to call it playing in the hole or as a support striker. Its not a static role

I've no idea why you think you can just say that he's playing in a position we just happen to lack a player in, and think that Sir Alex is going to read your post and sign him or something. Its weird.

Today he played in the midfield. Thats all. I don't believe we're going to buy the lad or that we have any interest in him. I'm just saying today he played as an attacking midfield player. He started the match off further forward but ended up being in the midfield for the majority of the game. Just because he had the odd strike on goal where he had his back to it doesn't mean thats where he was when the move started. If thats the case then Michael Carrick is a supporting striker because he's collected the ball around the oppositions penalty area. The lad had similar positioning to Nasri, who has a free role that is either in the midfield or linking up with the strikers. Secondly what the hell are you talking about? I was having a chat to you and you decide to try and insult me. Pathetic.

Udinese's average positions from Soccernet

1 Samir Handanovic
2 Christian Zapata
11 Maurizio Domizzi
17 Medhi Benatia
20 Kwadwo Asamoah
23 Almen Abdi
88 Gökhan Inler
27 Pablo Armero
3 Mauricio Isla
10 Antonio Di Natale
7 Alexis Sánchez

Substitutions:

Germán Denis (16) for Almen Abdi (23) on 61 mins
Juan G. Cuadrado (4) for Maurizio Domizzi (11) on 72 mins
Giovanni Pasquale (26) for Pablo Armero (27) on 83 mins

We clearly see that Pasquale and then Armero were playing on the left. Sanchez in behind Di Natale. Then German Denis came on after 61 mins as another play in front of Sanchez.

Of course by this point I'm not watching, I only watched the first half. But this clearly shows where Sanchez was on average today. In front of a 5 man midfield (Number 3 Isla is hidden under number 4 on the graphic as Cuadrado played in this area after 72 minutes) and behind Di Natale leading the line.

So please stop. He wasnt playing on the left

Considering after they went 2 nil down they spent the majority of the match camped around Lecce penalty area it doesn't surprise me he ended up their for the majority of the match. The first half he was in the middle picking up the ball in the midfield and going out to the left where he ended staying for a lot of the first half. The second half when they were countering he picked the ball up from the midfield and played it through to Natale or Denis. I don't see what the problem is with this. In both halves he even went for spells on the right wing. He wasn't a striker or a support striker, he played a free role from the midfield. He played on both wings and through the middle throughout the whole game, he just tended to be left more in the first half. What is the problem with this.

You dont know when to stop talking rubbish do you

I know you like to post on this forum with a passion with a list as long as your arm of players you would like us to sign. My advice is to actually watch these players play once in a while and not just pretend you did - even having the cheek to ask others what match they watched.

Oh look he's posted another pic thinking it makes him right again. I'll say it again. He started off further up the pitch, he dropped deep and ended up playing a free role from midfield, where he was collecting the ball deep in midfield and drifting to the wings, or moving up to support the strikers. He ended up playing on the left wing a lot in the first half, he also went to the right wing as well. Next thing you'll post a photo of him in the penalty area claiming it as out right proof. Giggs in the past has played a free role in midfield and as a back up striker. Instead of concentrating on little pictures watch the match again and see where he was at the start of the moves when he collected the ball and where he went with that ball. Tell you what there's a youtube highlight of the game online now. It shows the goals scored and chances and best moments of play. It last 2 minutes and tends to be concentrated in the penalty areas, You'll see Sanchez a lot in or around the penalty area. Why don't you post that, it will also be proof as far as your concerned.

a chilean lad i work with claims his dad knows sanchez´s dad, i´ve told him to pass on the message that we´d love to have him at our club.

Great job mate! His dad is going to call you tomorrow saying he signed for the club and you are going to get recognized as the main man behind the signing. Kudos jdmufc!

Unlike you and your poor eyesight, soccernet has collected the relevant data to show his average position and his heat map. Unlike you, they watched the match and can you tell you where he started off and where he spent the majority of the match, thereby defining his position.

They say he started up front in his usual off-striker/in the hole role ala Rooney. And he spent little to no more time on the left than on the right, hence his average position was pretty much right in the middle.

If you dispute any of this, maybe you should collect the data and make your own correct heat maps, average position and starting position. Just as long as we end up with the accurate stuff, its all good. Right now though, this is the accurate stuff and you're arguing with it because it doesnt make him out to be an "attacking midfielder" which you've decided he is for some weird reason
