Alexis Sanchez | Udinese: No Deal Yet

Barca won't buy him. Pedro can't stop scoring and Sanchez obviously won't replace Messi and they already have Affelay as backup.

Sanchez had been with Udinese for quite some time. Initially he was asked to play as a right sided forward in a 4-3-3 formation, a role which he rarely impressed in it. This year his performance improved mainly because he was moved as a second striker in a 4-4-2 formation (behind Di Natale)

I'd love to see us buy Sanchez because he is young, he's got pace and technique. His versatility (he can play on both flanks and upfront) is also an asset expecially considering the 25 player limit rule. Stating that, he has yet to impress as a winger.

He'd struggle to get a game at Barca. City will just buy him for the sake of buying him, not even sure if Madrid is in for him but same applies as Barca...Chelsea's sytem might not suit him and well, we have SAF

And we've done a lot of good PR work with Chile lately on the back of the Concha y Toro sponsorship. If we are in for him, have a bid accepted, and it's only down to him making a decision, we can count on that helping no end.

Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo has ruled out the prospect of Alexis Sanchez leaving the club in January.

The Chile international playmaker has been strongly linked both with Chelsea and Inter.

Speaking on Gr Parlamento, Pozzo said: “There has been interest from Inter, but it's useless to speak about something that can't happen.

“We can't deprive ourselves of a toy in the middle of the season and with the Coppa Italia still to play for.”

Asked if Sanchez is worth €30m, Pozzo concluded by saying: “Chelsea were in that ballpark.”

Has he not played well for Udinese as a winger at all? I have never seen him play in Italy but he impressed at the World Cup on the right hand side (unless my memory is failing me), and you'd think he has all of the attributes to be a superb winger. It's great that he can play as a second striker too - always good to have versatile players - but I find it odd that he hasn't done much on the wing. Why do you think that is, Dev?

He hasn't actually ever played as a winger with Udinese. He used to play as a right sided forward in a 4-3-3 formation, which is, a different role to what a United's winger covers. Anyway his Serie A career had flourished as a link man not as a 'winger'.

I believe that if we have some cash left then we should seriously consider signing him. The boy's got pace, he's got great technique and he can play in various roles. The downside of it is that he is right footed which means he is more comfortable on the right side. We already have Nani, Bebe and Valencia there.

Dirty Sanchez with a bit of Hernandez both playing for Manchester United FC.

Man, what is this world coming to! One would never have guessed it a couple of decades ago ;)

Always liked the fella, since I watched him star for Chile when they whipped Bafana (not exactly a BIG achievement  ) about 3-4 years ago. Incidentally, if he has a good agent who is actually concerned about his clients football career (yeah right) it is really a no-brainer where his client should end up...with us.

Well the bloody problem seems to be that SAF has not shown any interest to buy him at all, or else he would be here in a flash. Quality player though, wouldn't mind us spending some of that Ronaldo money on him if it's still there in the bank.

City already have Johnson and Silva competing for the right wing position. They'll have to get rid of one of them before they can offer Sanchez a spot

Silva is left footed and Johnson can play either side anyway. Sanchez can do a job in the middle as well can't he?

The problem with buying Sanchez is that we already have 3 wingers in Nani, Valencia and Park who are all right footed. We need someone who's naturally left footed for the left.

Do we? Most top teams have a right-footed player on the left for them - Eto'o/Coutinho, Balotelli, Maxi, Arshavin/Nasri, Ronaldo, Villa, Ribery, Pepe, Marin, Robinho etc. It's really just Chelsea off the top of my head who play with a left footed player on the left side but even then he drifts into central areas a huge amount and thus doesn't show any necessity for same-side wingers.

Park isn't a winger, he's a central midfielder who Fergie plays from the left.

Very good again today against Sampdoria, a neat assist for the 1-1 goal in the 91st minute. Was a big factor in turning the game around when he came on at half time.

30 minutes extra time to go.

Serie A outfit identify English interest in South American

Udinese have suggested Manchester United and Chelsea are among Chile winger Alexis Sanchez's biggest admirers.

The South American flyer has been in inspired form for the Serie A side this season and has attracted interest across Europe.

The Italians are hell-bent on keeping hold of their prized asset but would be prepared to do business for the 22-year-old in the summer.

And Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini has revealed Premier League leaders United and champions Chelsea are keenly following Sanchez's movements.
Others

Larini told the website Calciomercato: "If Sanchez continues like this he can do well. He is a versatile player, with much room for improvement.

"Chelsea and Manchester United? They are two clubs that have followed him and want him but there are also others."

Inter Milan are among the clubs keen to acquire Sanchez's services and Larini confirmed: "Inter have tried in January just as the other teams did. But the wish of the club is to have Sanchez in Udine until June."

When asked about Sanchez's transfer value, Larini added: "We don't set the figure, the market does. The value of the player is liable to vary."

Sanchez, who is under contract with the Friuli outfit until June 2014, moved to Udinese in the summer of 2008 from River Plate and has scored five goals in 20 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri this season.

The Twitter rumor mill is suggesting we made a bid for him(which the agent and club suggested we were interested before) and that it's been accepted.

I'm going to guess that's 95% bollocks, but we could have an interesting transfer window yet.

Linkage? I really think we'll go for this kid in the summer

Yep, I've seen it too. All over it that a bid has been made and it's been accepted.

Keeping an open mind here until something more concrete.

guardian_sport RT @ianprior: Major - and boy do I mean it - football exclusive coming up on guardian.co.uk sometime around 5.30

Wonder what THIS is....and :

ShaunThompson93 Wow, all this Alexis Sanchez stuff has come from
nowhere; am I the only one that doubts it will happen? He is brilliant though #MUFC

Rumor really is growing on Twitter that we've had a bid accepted. Pretty sure it's all rubbish though. But Fergie did say we won't be buying anyone which as good an indication as any that we're set for a new signing.

But their president has been saying he won't go in this window for ages.

I don't believe the bid is true or maybe its an agreement for the summer.

It'll probably end up being something related to Adams or Suarez for L'pool.

I don't see it myself. Anderson coming into form, Valencia due back in a month or so, Park coming back soon and Nani and Berbatov in the form of their lives. Where would he play?

FAO Mods; If there was ever a need for a "redcafe count down clock" this is it.

I'm thinking something like this

I would guess it would be one of those signings that came a little prematurely due to other interest in the player.

He's playing well as a number 10. I can imagine Sanchez, Rooney, Nani behind Berbatov

Marcotti: Pazzini on verge of joining Inter, according to Sky Italia. I would have gone for Alexis Sanchez instead. But Pazzo cheaper

neither do I but if say chelsea is making their move and Fergie is keen on Sanchez, he would make a bid. Even could be a fee accepted with the condition he moves in the summer.

pretty skeptical but hey, who knows.

And drop Valencia? Will never happen.

Holy feck the signs are good boys.

Get the oil of Ozil out and pray!

Hmm. Gary Neville for SKY? Or some "exclusive" about Grey/Keys

Only if they were caught fecking OAP's or something. If its big news it needs to be BIG news. Only thing that can be that big is Glazers selling up etc etc

If its a shitty transfer we're all idiots.
