I'd be happy if he was our only signing this summer.
What? You can't be serious?
He's a great player but won't solve our problems what so ever. A new winger should be 4th or even 5th in our list of priorities.

RB/winger (RB pending if Varela can make the step up)

What is it with United and being interested in players that in all honesty we don't actually need.

I'd love it if we signed him. There are not many top right wingers out there, who are available and fairly young.

Sanchez - Mata - Kagawa
----------- RVP ---------

This is perfectly balanced, imo. You have a quick, well-proven flair player to the right, a slow but effective offensive playmaker in the middle, who also is effective in front of goal, and a hard-working playmaker to the left, who can combine well with both the AM and the striker. RVP is RVP. No need to say more.

Kagawa hadn't got the pace, final ball or trickiness to play wide in my opinion.

He'd just take up positions in the middle and get in Mata's way.

Another proper wide player with pace instead and you can stretch the play, leaving space in the middle for Mata to pick up.

I read that he was very close to joining Juventus for £18m. Seems Barca are having a clear out. Fabregas, Sanchez, Valdes and Puyol.

-------------------------------De Gea

-----------------Rafael----Jones----Hummels----Shaw

------------------Schweinsteiger----Strootman

--------------Sanchez----------Mata----------Januzaj

-------------------------------v.Persie

I can't see why this won't happen

His a success for Japan on the left. All Van Gaal would need to do is get us play a high tempo attacking game with movement and interchange and Kagawa will thrive even while on the left.

Also we won't sign two wide players unless two are sold, adding a RM would be the priority at least on the left we'll have Januzaj and Kagawa.

Sanchez on the left, Januzaj on the right (both interchanging) and Mata as #10 behind RVP/ Rooney at #9 would be sexual.

25 million is an exceptional price for a player of his quality and age profile (just about entering his prime at 25). Let's take advantage of the Barcelona garage sale.

Adnan needs to play on the right for me. I love Alexis, although he is probably more suited to the right too.

If you want two flair players in your setup, then yes, Kagawa isn't the player you want.

But he's excellent on the left for Japan. There are different types of wingers. For Japan, he's similar to the way Silva plays for City. All we need is Van Gaal football, and we have our very own Silva:drool:

I think we should keep Adnan what he is, a winger and develop him into someone similar to Robben. We already have a world class player in Mata in the number 10 position.

Why Adnan on the right? He's left footed and IMO will play no 10 in a couple of years

A left-footer on the left is invariably a crosser. As you have intimated, Adnan is much more than that. He needs the game on his inside, not on the outside.

International football is totally different for me. Slower build up, not as frenetic and at least half your games for a decent side against inferior opposition.

I don't see what he adds out wide. He's a link up player - I.e a number 10. He can't beat a man or stretch the play or put a great cross in. Smacks of trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Mata, or Rooney at 10 can be the playmaker and I think with genuine width that suits a fast flowing, attacking game and creates space in the middle. It's much easier to defend against a converted attacking midfielder playing outside because he always wants to come inside.

Januzaj offers a lot more. His ability to run at players, beat a man and commit defenders is what wide play is all about - not dropping inside and making nice and neat 5 yard passes.

£18m for Sanchez?

Something isn't right here.

As above I just think it smacks of trying to fit him in.

He's clearly a talented player - but he's a 10 all day. He just isn't as good as Rooney or Mata in my opinion.

Maybe Van Gaal might get more out of him, and hopefully so. I just think he's behind in the pecking order.

Reminds me of the time Madrid were binning a few players off. Robben, Sneijder and Van der Vaart wasn't it?
We should get involved. But wont.

Rumours that Juve have turned their attention to DiMaria now.

Which is why it's reported that Barca have said feck off to them. This though is all from about a month ago though.

After having a 20 goal season and arguably was Barca's second best attacking player smells awfully funny for that quoted price. Didn't he go to Barca for more too?

I think the only stupider story was the £10m fee for Schweinsteiger.

It's only being reported in a Italian paper, so I wouldn't read too much into it. I think Barca will keep him for another season and then go for Reus next year, if their transfer ban is lifted.

He did, yeah. Barcelona aren't good at selling players though, so while I don't think he'd go for that cheap I'm sure he'd be sold for lower than what his value is.

If Di Maria or this guy are really going to be available, we'd be stupid to pass up on one..... OR BOTH

Much rather have Reus, but can't see it happening

Balls to that he could be something more, something cruyff like.

According to reports, United are locked in discussions with Barcelona over a £20m deal for the Chile international.

Liverpool have also tabled an offer for Sanchez, who has been told he is free to leave the Camp Nou this summer by new Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.

Last week Italian giants Juventus had an £18m bid for Sanchez turned down, with Barcelona seeking at least £20m for the 25-year-old.

WING IT: The Chile winger will face Louis Van Gaal and the Netherlands at this summer's World Cup [GETTY]

Despite Liverpool and Juventus being able to offer Champions League football next season, it is United that have moved ahead in the race to land Sanchez having made it clear that they are willing to meet Barcelona's asking price.

Louis Van Gaal is aiming to overhaul United's squad and has left vice-chairman Ed Woodward in control of securing his top targets, while he fulfils his duties with the Netherlands at the World Cup.

Even if United are able to strike a deal with Barcelona, Sanchez is unlikely to complete a switch to Old Trafford until after this summer's finals.

Prior to any switch, Sanchez will also come up against his potential new manager in Brazil with Chile to take on Van Gaal's Netherlands, Australia and world champions Spain in Group B.
