Looked to have physically declined in his last few months at Arsenal. Sort of like the Torres situation.
Been outscored by Smalling since he arrived at OT, has probably played a lot more minutes too.
Even if he's not setting the world on fire a player in his position needs to be contributing goals.
Martial is a much bigger goal threat, would play him over Sanchez tbh.

When? I can think of his goal against Spurs in the semi final last season, that's it. Don't think he should be written off yet, but he's been a bad signing so far.
last week against Burnley, the comeback against City both spring to mind.

Was he that good against Burnley? Like, he was fine but hardly special. Remember, this is supposed to be one of the best players in the league, getting paid more than anyone. A decent game can't cut it as a stand out moment. Sadly, he hasn't had a single game for us where he's looked the match-winning, game-changing player he did at Arsenal.

At what stage are we with Sanchez?

I am guessing this is still the first stage of being in denial and shock. We would have bought a total dud and are paying him a fortune. It'll be a while before we reach the acceptance stage.

I really can't understand all the dripping about Sanchez

Ok, he isn't scoring goals, but his movement and passing is making the difference. Cracking player that can still find another level
I know. He has a purpose beyond scoring goals, and does a lot of stuff pretty good but it certainly isn't world class performances he is putting in, and without the goals too, its disappointing overall. Its sad because with his age, how much better can he get? If this is his level the fine but it will only go down from here, lets hope its not too quickly and that he can reinvent himself somehow. I haven't given up on him yet. He should be scoring around 15, assisting 15 or he will probably be on the bench and get sold.

Before January we had Rashford and Martial competing against each other on the left wing and that got the best out of them. Then we signed this guy. Not only is he useless himself; he derailed the careers of our most promising youngsters. He is a really bad transfer if you consider the overall detrimental impact. Problem is exasperated as it seems Jose will never drop him regardless of how he performs. It has already been six months of shit.

I agree with this. I do think it's not necessarily his fault though, but Mourinho's. I've been patient with Sanchez as I think he definitely has the skills, but his end product is not really enough to warrant so much freedom with ball-losses and a kind of free-role, not even mentioning holding Martial/Rashford back. It's so obvious he should be playing as a right-winger, yet Mourinho insists on making it all difficult. He's a demanding/moany character too, which when he doesn't have a lot of end-product might be a big mouthful in the dressing room too. I do think less of Mourinho as a coach, when he hasn't even once tried Sanchez on his natural position on the right. Wenger also called the right-wing his natural position (where he also got the best out of him)

Just watch the video.

1. Put the ball on plate for Lukaku right at the start of the video
2. Scored a goal marginally offside
3. Layoff to Pogba who's shot got saved amazingly
4. Good defensive contribution.

He was no where poor like people are saying here. Even at his worst games this guy creates atleast a couple of chances.

I do agree the criticism is harsh but expectations are rightly high, he’s a player capable of 25 league goals/assists but showing no threat in that aspect.

Exactly,he's the highest paid player in the league ffs. Think it's more than fair to expect a lot more from someone with such high billing...

I thought he was very good against Burnley, and match-winning in the City comeback.

Have you seen our build up with the ball and in what areas he gets the ball? How can you expect Sanchez to score and assist 25 this way?

Probably the worst transfer I can remember since following United when you consider the negative impact he has had on our team overall particularly the two young lads his presence has cut off the gametime for. Martial should be playing ahead of him on the left. Martial couldn't impact much against Watford in the 20 minutes after he came on but for me Martial is well past Sanchez right now. Sanchez has no pace and struggles to beat a man.

I did think he was good against Burnley. The problem is, Sanchez is pretty much the highest paid player in the league and definitely at United, he is supposed to be better than good or very good. So far I haven't seen any fantastic, only good or very good, sometimes.

Central is the answer...

we will never move to a 442 again but play him as a 10 in a 4231 and I think he'll do alot better than he is now.

I’m quite surprised by the negative comments I’ve seen in here, I thought he did quite well without being spectacular. I understand expectations are high but some of the criticism has been very harsh.

While Martial lost his starting place, his off the ball movement is pretty bad. There needs to be a lot work done on that.

To me it looks like Sanchez is a player suited to a system where the team plays a lot flicks and moves the ball fast. Utd are definitely not that and I think it won't end well for him.

United board is stupid just like giving Rooney a ridiculous 6 year contract when he was already playing shit. Most expensive player or contract doesn't mean much.
Look at Pogba, utd payed a lot, but it means nothing.

I was always a huge fan of Sanchez and still am. It's sad to see him struggle like this. Still think he'll come good but we have run out of excuses for his mediocre performances.

It's like you are talking about a Fellani performance.
He is supposed to be our, Hazard, Salah, De Bruyne. So a game where he is not spectacular, which is never, does piss fans off.
This was never a Mourhino signing.

The dependence between fitness and form is non-linear: small changes in fitness might have significant effects. Losing a little bit of pace might result in a substantial drop in performances. It is still early to tell whether Sanchez will be our Rooney 2 but it is not unlikely.

I’m of this train of thought previously but the way he keeps losing the ball, every teams will cut through our middle like a hot knife through butter if we play him there.

The only way I see him working out for us is a 4-4-2 with midfielders occupying the left wing like Atletico once did with Koke on the right. Sanchez being the striker next to Lukaku and the LB providing the width.

The problem is he's never spectacular. In fact he never even comes close to it

I don't think he has declined physically, he is just playing in a completely different enviroment, his last two clubs Barcelona and Arsenal are possession based and play with a high line, try to press high up the pitch, he is not used to running up and down the wings like our team's wingers do.

At Arsenal he used to hang around the opposition defensive line and waited for balls to be fed to him, even when they lost possession he pressed high up the pitch not tracked back all the way to his own box, that's not how Arsenal defend.

My point is he is not a traditional winger who can keep running up and down the pitch for the entire duration of the match. In the system we play we will never see the best of Sanchez, he will keep picking up assists and goals here and there but not like he did at Arsenal.

Publicity signing. Woodward saw an opportunity to publicly get one over on City and Jose said "yeah why not,he's great".
So this is on Woodward too? Not on Mourinho who went on record claiming that we were a world class attacker from being a finished product and that when a world class player is on the market, we'd have to do everything to get him.

When you say "on Woodward too ? ", it still includes Mourinho.
This was a terrible signing by the club, Mourinho for using him the way he has and in the same process killing Martial's form (at the time) and Woodward for agreeing to such ridiculous wages for a past-it player.

Can't accuse him of a lack of effort (like Di Maria) but it's just not working for him.

Agree. For me he could do nothing for 89 minutes, but if he scores or creates a chance and we win 1-0, job done. Every game he's plays he gives 100% and I honestly don't understand why this alone doesn't adhere him to fans. I think when a player comes from a rival team, if they weren't liked then that taints them. Some players like Pogs, Sanchez and even Rom will always be criticised even when they are contributing.

This. He was certainly not fantastic or even GOOD, but he was far from SHIT as a large number of posters claimed.

So when is he going to come good. He's been in the PL for over four years and should be at his peak. No excuses really

It's ok for Martial/Rashford to have those kind of performances as they are seen as people being developed for the future. But a player who was bought to bring an instant impact he has failed. He isn't doing anything our young wingers couldn't. Why is it hard for people to acknowledge that he hasn't been an upgrade?

We have a club that dominated the league for decades. We have a club that is worth more than any other in Europe. We spend more money on players than anyone else. We have a spine in the team worth over 300m. We have a serial trophy winning manager....No excuses really.

I think he needs to be played as a CF to get the best out of him. His best statistics come from Arsenal when played as a CF and I recall even Guardiola commented before the transfer talks that he always believed he was meant for that position to excel, but in Messi's Barcelona he did not fit; thus, he was mostly played in the band. We saw glimpses of this in the pre-season. Nonetheless, I think the criticism he is getting in the forum is a bit over the top, the season is just starting.

No one is saying that.
