Well. That was a bit shit wasn't it?

Still, not too fussed. I'd say SAF's got it right when he said "the boy's a bit rash", and by right I mean understatement of the year.

Will get better I'm sure.

Very disappointing all over the pitch.

Rafael's clone please.

What are you guys on about, Alexander Buttner didn't even play tonight

No surprise it begins.

He hasn't played enough to have an opinion on him. Had a good game, had also a terrible one.

Knee-jerk times are part of football, deal with it.

It probably went something like this:

Fergie: "Ah, David, can't wait for the season to start. Patrice's a bit tired though, should I give him a rest?

Gill: "But Alex.. We've not got anyone else."

Fergie: "What do you mean we've not got anyone else you penny-pinching knob, what about that brazilian guy. Mop of a head, runs around, always injured... What's his name?"

Gill: "Rafael?"

Fergie: "No, not him. The shite one."

Gill: "Oh, Fabio. Erh, you've loaned him. To Mark Hughes."

Fergie: "I did? Kinell, he'll not see the pitch all season. Oh fine, get me someone else then."

Gill: "But Alex, you surely can't mean that I'm supposed to sign a left back! I mean, who would fit in here?"

Fergie: "I don't bloody care! Get me one tomorrow."

He will be probably given to charity after Fabio returns.

Seems a bit hesitant to pass the ball short and didn't really take control of it enough in defence. Carries it well but needs to have more confidence passing it out and dealing with the ball quicker.

Felt sorry for him. Was given absolutely no protection from whoever our left winger was supposed to be during the first half. It was clear from the start that Moses had his number yet no one bothered helping him out.

What he has got on Fabio?

Confused!

I think that Fabio was loaned to have a run of games, and he was signed just to be a cover. Dunno, Fabio at his best was infinitely better than him. Anyway, I think that like in Rafael's case, Fabio's best form comes if he has a run of games. So, I am hoping that SAF will promote Fabio as a starter next season.

What happened to him since Wigan?
Nothing, he has had one really good game where he didn't have a lot of defending to do himself and the caf blew everything out of proportion. Since then he has been poor, but he is still trying to adjust to the team.

We just need to give him some time and I'm sure he will iron out his defensive issues.

I didn't see the game and can blindly accept he had a stinker, but suggesting he's a flop is as bad as thinking we got a good one based on a couple of fancy moves against Wigan. Give it time. It's a major step up.

Last night was not his best game, hopefully when next he gets a run in the team he will perform to a better standard. Lets not crucify him and get ahead of ourselves.

I remember one instance buttner tried doing some step overs wide near Chelsea's box. He easily lost the ball and Chelsea were quick to counter with numbers, on the edge of the screen you can just see buttner strolling back maybe even walking when the like of welbeck giggs etc are busting a gut. Can't remember the result of this attack

Kin spastics. After he scored against Wigan, people were in favor of giving him Evra's spot. Now, after a couple more games, he's apparently got no future with the club...

Yeah, whoever says Buttner played shit game is spastic, eventough it's obvious he isn't Manchester united first team quality.

We bought average left back from Holland just to have him as backup for Evra, to play these kind of games, and to have him in case Evra picks some injury, because we are short on that position now when fabio is on loan. Even Fergie between the lines said that couple of times, and if I'm not wrong our scout(?) said Buttner wasn't in top5 fullbacks in holland too. He can be solid backup, has likeable attitude, and that's it, he won't see pitch when Fabio returns. He can improve, no doubt about that, but Fabio has more place for improvemant, and is probably already better player than Buttner.

That's just how we roll here at The Caf. Too bright, we ain't.

good to read some of the more balanced opinions here

fair enough - he gave away the penalty but Moses hardly took him to the cleaners did he? I think he did fine to be honest and looked positive going forward

the way the commentator was getting on you'd think Moses was Ronaldo - all I remember from Moses performance was winning the penalty and falling over his own feet in the box - hardly memorable

Made one mistake, kind of a bad one.

Has made a generally promising start to his United career.
