I know him from match highlights in Studio Sport (dutch MOTD), and the odd game I saw of Vitesse versus Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord,.. But I can't really say I ever really took notice of him. He's a LB who was briefly considered for the LB spot for Holland in the euros and that's all I really know about him. They decided to pick Willems for the euros and that was that. I'm pretty sure they would have picked Büttner if they had known SAF thought he was good enough.

But in those words the vowels are pronounced differently, 'Thought' is an 'aw' sound while 'through' is an 'ew' sound, 'plough' is an 'ow' while 'enough' is a 'uh' sound, at least that's how we'd pronounce them in the States.
As I recall Thomas Müller's name is pronounced like "Meau-ler" [like beauty], are the commentators getting that one wrong then, and it should be "Mow-ler'" or "Maw-ler"?

We had evra and 2 alternatives at left back. The two being Fabio and Blackett. Both had very little first team playing time. Hence Fabio is been loaned out. Both are still very young as well.
This Buttner lad is bit older at 23 and has plenty of playing time in a top flight league. Relatively cheap and I presume wont cause too much stir if he's not picked up for every game. He'll be assesed in training and if he's indeed good enough, he'll play a few games this season. If not, sell him to Hull for 500k.

Yeah I don't mind this at all. Granted I've never seen him play, so he could be shit. But assuming he's not completely useless, this is exactly what we needed. Somebody who won't kick up a fuss about not starting to back up Evra. And for a low fee. He's only 23 so maybe he'll end up being a class fullback as well. All we need right now is for him to be capable of playing in the cups and against weaker opposition in the league without making a mess of things.
And in January we can bring back Fabio if something were to happen to Evra.

Read some comments on the dutch websites, and the general consensus is that it's a very surprising move, a lot of people don't think he's good enough for United at all. Hope our scouting team got us a bargain mind.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong when he eventually signs, but somehow I don't like the idea of this transfer. This fella isn't even highly rated by Dutch supporters and 2 years ago he was being linked with the likes of Legia Warsaw. I do realise it's just for backup but I would imagine there must be better options available for around the price.
