Alex Telles - SIGNED for United

I've watched a few myself since the end of the season but it's the Vitaliy Mykolenko one I keep going back to. Think he'd be a great signing.

i agree, has a lot of pace and energy. Would fit the league well. Wouldn't mind him, but he is young

Never seen him play.

Telles more about him please.
Well as a left back he got 11 goals and 9 assists between the league and europa league last season.... Pretty much gets 10+ assists every year in all comps. So thats about 10 goals and 10 more assists than our current left back...

Until its on Sky or the BBC I don't believe it.

These twitter knobheads are talking bollocks all day every day. They just make stuff up.

Then do you think Shaw would have jogged back into position when we played Seville, allowing the guy to score with ease? Doubt it
Yes he would've. He's one of the laziest players on the pitch when we don't have the ball. If Luke Shaw is the best we can do at LB, then we are in a heap of trouble.

Gonna go out on a limb and say if we do end up signing him it'll be for the same amount we sell Smalling...hence the delay.

Telles reminds me of Ricardo Rodriguez but more aggressive. Reguilon would've been a better signing if it wasn't for the buyback clause.

Telles still looks far better than Shaw though. Especially if we buy a fast left sided centre back.

Telles Alaba Maguire AWB.

That I could accept...

3rd name.....will be Nuno Mendes. Think any of the three would be decent signings. For me Reguilon leaving alone is a good thing with that clause, think people going nuts over him from Europa league when he is a decent not great left back. Think Telles can come straight in and offer something going forward, not convinced 100% with him defensively from the little I have seen but for a fee of around £20m a real bargain in my opinion. Speaking of seeing little of.....

See Mendes once but that was enough to convince me he is a world class full back in the making. Reminded me of Evra, right age to develop yet talented enough to come straight in if SHaw is injured. Looks excellent going forward, but reading reports be the most expensive....but if we are making just a left back and wing signing as reported....should be Mendes we go for....Personally with Dalot still here, Laird another option and WIlliams.....all of them able to play left back if not ideal fits....I really dont see why with all the holes we do have that left back is one of three priorities this summer? Unless Mengi or Tuanzabe are ready, not signing a centre back is a huge mistake in my opinion as is not going for a top class young defensive midfielder of which there are a few about....would priorities both of those positions over a new left back myself hugely
I think we're willing to give Axel that shot this season and he'll finally stake his claim as first choice (injuries permitting) and Mengi is being backed to be the long-term partner for Axel once Maguire starts winding down. If things go wrong for Axel again this season, we'll then bring in the CB IMO.

I'm ok with it tbh, as I rate Axel very highly.

To the people who have posted about Telles, have you followed him and watched live or just commenting off the back of YouTube clips. I havent a clue who he is or weather he is actually better than Shaw and judging by the mixed comments its even more unclear!

Just wait until Shaw is turned into a CB and finds his true home. Good on the ball without the weakness in the attacking 3rd, fast, good positioning, probably no difference between him and Lindelof aerials... it'll work just you watch

To be fair, Bruno was in a much smaller
club than Porto, and he is only 15 months younger than Telles. Not sure it means that much.

The main positive with Bruno was that all the SCP fans were completely in love with him which is always a very good sign.

I don't know about Telles.

But the same was true for Reguilon. RM fans rated him way more than Sevilla fans did, who saw him week in week out.

Better going forward, worse defensively. He's definitely very good on the ball and going forward, as an overall package no idea who would start buy we needed the depth which he would give us.

This is guaranteed to happen in some games.

Shaw is likely a better LCB than anyone we have at the club. He gets a lot of shit here but he is actually very good defensively, we hardly ever get attacked on our left flank.

I don't think he's strong enough in the air or vocal enough on the pitch to be a centre back in a back four. Although I respect your optimism.

Shaws nothing but a squad player for me and I wouldn't be against selling him in a year or so if he doesn't oust the incoming left back as first choice.

Is this a legit link then? I‘m seeing Ornstein and Bouhafsi reporting it and they’re pretty reliable on most things.

Or are we someones 4D Chess game again? :wenger:

No idea if he is any good and if we are really interested.
But how can anyone complain about a 5 year contract for a 27 year old?
Didn’t Liverpool offer an injury prone 29 year old Thiago a 4 year contract? Did any United fans question that contract length?

Of course not! Get with the program, dude. Klopp's Liverpool can do no wrong in the eyes of some of our 'support'.

Yeah we could definitely use him like Bayern use Alaba. We need a better DM though.

Except for the fact that he is about a foot too small

Not sure if serious.

Also, Caf clamours for a signing as all our rivals have done 'great business.'

Utd make a signing.

Caf reacts with, he's not good enough and everyone has made better signings.

I actually found myself thinking about this sometime recently, if Shaw could do a Ramos and convert from FB to CB. Might be worth a discussion to see what the more analytical minds of the Caf have to say.

Cheers for the info, let's see if Ed cocks it up and he signs for psg

I think it's like the Regulion rumours. UTD probably have interest and there has probably been some contact but it's not as far as long as it's being reported. Apparently PSG might have interest as well. I wouldn't be surprised if he ultimately ends there. It's best not to get your hopes up till he actually signs for UTD. As we have seen, no deal for UTD is actually completed till the player signs. We've seen so many times, were this a player agreement but it doesn't go anywhere in the end.

Hes like 2 cm shorter than lindelof. And again, Lindelof is the competition here. Depends on how you rate him I guess but in terms of raw physical attributes, he suits Maguire way better than Lindelof. Left footed so would play on the left side, Maguire move to right. Much faster and probably stronger than lindelof, aerially pretty much the same as Shaw has a good leap on him and is solid in the air (for fullback) while lindelof is weak in the air (for CB). Shaws strength is build up from the back (usable as a CB) and positioning (different as CB vs LB, but his stamina wouldn't be affected as much, and he wouldn't get caught up field as often when he struggles to chase back). Genuinely think he would make a good CB, and probably better than anyone we have.

I am welcoming this signing. Different type of player what Shaw is and we need some variation on our full back position. It will be the same on the right side with AWB and Williams.

I, for one, look forward to Harry Maguire being dragged out to left back to cover for our new attacking full back. It really utilises all of his strengths.
Mmm. Instead let’s keep fullbacks who get nosebleeds in the opponents half. That really worked well for us so far.
