Alex Teixeira

Update:

Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globo, Teixeira said: “I would like to move in this transfer window and have told them [Shakhtar] that. They have received a very good offer and they are working on a solution.

The 26-year-old from Duque de Caxias, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, added: “It is my desire to move to a big league and I know that the English league is very strong.

"I am ready and I know that I will grow up a lot there. I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them.

Looks like he's on his way.

Teixeira alongside Willian & Hazard behind <insertnewstrikerhere> would be pretty damn strong.

Whether it's Liverpool or Chelsea who get him I have to say it's wonderful seeing Brazilians come to our league. Have we ever had this many Brazilians in our league at one time?

We should be all over him. He is probably better than Felipe and cheaper. He is gettable, and could help us now and in the future. Missing out on him currently is a big mistake, he is available, all the others arent for a resonable fee.

So is this someone we shouldn't be missing out i.e a potential top player? From the clips he mainly comes across as a finisher.

How's his assist count or is he a creative type at all?

We'll probably end up missing out and he'll choose London. Most likely Chelsea will hijack the deal like they do in January just to stockpile players they have no intention of hardly using i.e Salah, Cuadrado before being thrown on their loan heap.

Metro confirmed that he's agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

Plenty of other sources confirming it's done as well.

Wonder what this means for Coutinho and particularly Firmino who plays in Texeira's position and was finding some form, one of them will no doubt be shifted on the wings.

It'll be interesting to see. Cou is best played centrally, but can be pretty great on the outside, while I've seen nothing from Firmino to suggest he can be a wing player. I'm expecting something similar to the City game, where we don't play with a recognized striker, but instead a fluid front 3/4 of Cou/Firmino/Teixeira (and maybe Lallana) with 2 holding mids and a back 4 that we have to reinforce.

Either way, I'm glad it looks to be going through, and cross my fingers it doesn't halt Firmino's progress in recent weeks.

Hate to admit it but I think this is a great signing for Liverpool. After seeing him play a few times and looking at his stats this season this signing concerns me a bit.

He would be perfect for us as well. Pace, work rate, strength and quality.

Reasonable fee too I think.

We only go for the obvious names it seems. Hopefully he's not as good as you say he is.

He played against us for Shaktar and along with Taison they gave us the run around. We still got results in both games but I thought Teixeira was their best player in a team that included Douglas Costa. Taison didn't seem to have the quality of Teixeira but had the other attributes I mentioned.

Looking at this seasons stats for him he seems to have really kicked on this year as well.

Worst of all - his hamstrings will be used to the cold weather!

From the little I know about him he's been a key player for Shaktar for a while now, he was considered the better player when D. Costa was there too. Used to be played as your a typical winger hugging the touchline but since he's been given more freedom in a more central position he's bloomed. Great player by all accounts but not exactly an essential buy for pool, they already have Firmino and Coutinho, seems like with Hazard flagging he'd have a bigger impact at Chelsea.

Sounds like a quality player.

If he's half the player for us that Costa is for Bayern, then I'll gladly pay a testicle to sure his services.

Why are we letting players like this go to our rivals. His statistics this season are up there with the very best, and I know that doesn't tell the full story but considering the attackers they have had in recent years that have moved on and done well then it's stupid not to move for him, as I've heard he's the best out of Willian, Douglas Costa and Mkhirtaryan.

We need a winger who can stick to the line while also providing a goal threat. In addition, he's quick and can play well on the counter.

I remember way back when United were interested in Costa, before he went to Shakhtar, he played in the U-20 World Cup. Teixeira was the stud on that team (Ganso was in that squad as well). That doesn't mean much in terms of today, but he's been a prospect for a long time. He and Costa went to Shakhtar at the same time, and Teixeira was the better goal scorer of the two. It'd be interested to know why he stayed under the radar--haven't seen enough of him to say.

We should be all over this. We should basically do what Chelsea did to Spurs with Willian. Come in at the very last second and hijack the deal.

Rumblings that we're ditching our start low negotiation tactics and might be coughing up.

We should have done that with KDB

They probably feel cheated about Douglas Costa's fee when they see how he's performing at Bayern right now. Making sure they're getting the most out of it now.

Fecking Bayern.

Shakhtar boss Lucesu:

"Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go,” explained Lucescu. "I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship."

"He’s worth €50 million," says Shakhtar’s head coach, Mircea Lucescu speaking exclusively to FourFourTwo. "He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique. I compare him with other players of the same age who changed [the fortunes of] a club, [Angel] Di Maria for example at Paris Saint-Germain.

"Teixeira can be at the same level, better even. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better."

There's a rumor out there that precious LvG does not like Brazilians for some reason.

Is Benteke out of the door at the end of the season then?

No because he'll be stood 10 yards away when we're all expecting him to make the move. Then Klopp will shout obscenities at him in full view with no hand over the mouth rubbish.

This generation of Brazilians is not much to shout about

Surprisingly Teixeira has never been capped at senior level for his country.
Well, not that surprisingly. Costa hadn't been capped before he moved to Bayern, right? Nobody in Brazil cares about the smaller european leagues. Plus, I hadn't heard of Teixeira before this season either, to be fair.

That's the norm for players that join Eastern Europe.

Willian was selected for Brazil whilst playing for Shaktar. Admittedly not very often but it is not impossible.
