Alex Teixeira

He'd be a great signing for Liverpool or anybody really. Shame. Massive upgrade on Lallana. Teixera, Coutinho and Firmino is a very strong front 3. Or 3 behind a striker.

We're not signing him, so don't concern yourself.

Who really thinks that Douglas Costa would tear the Premiership apart? Bayern completely dominate nearly every game they play in, his confidence will be sky high. Different kettle of fish playing for Liverpool in England.

Yeah Arsenal had no problems containing him.

I do.

He'd be shit here. Every player from outside PL would be crap.

Dont Liverpool already have a Teixeira kid...he scored last night.

He'd be incredible in the PL.

That's Joao Carlos Teixeira, a promising 'youngster' who turned 23 a couple of days ago.

Why? Everyone who ends up there ends up utter shite off the back of a good season for another club or pulling a hammy
Yeah that's probably why Suarez is the best striker in the world right now

Bayern are a comfortably superior team to Arsenal. Liverpool, on the other hand.

FWIW I seem to remember Teixeira playing against us a few years back and he was a handful along with that Taison fellow. Don't remember Costa from those two games, might have been injured.

Edit: Just looked it up, Costa did play both game, must have just been s**t.

1-1 draw away and we beat them 1-0 at home with big Phil Jones scoring the winner. Fergie must have been into some voodoo or something.

Edit: Damn that was the Moyes era.......Van Gaal out!

It does make a nice change though robin. Players come to you, then they're shit...saurez left because you were shit.

FWIW I think it'll be a damn good signing actually!

He's not at your place anymore ;) keep up Robin lad

Or are we going back years to prove me wrong. Typical a history lesson from a scouser ;)
Why does it matter that he's not at Liverpool anymore? He was already one of the best strikers in the world when he was playing for us, which proves your point about "everyone who goes to Liverpool ends up shite" is wrong. I could give you countless other examples though.

You know its Ronaldo. Don't be silly. I'd have Lewandowski over Suarez too personally.
Ronaldo ain't no striker in the traditional sense of the word (your typical n°9), and I'd definitely have Suarez over Lewandowski but fair enough if you think otherwise. My point still stands even if I have to change it to 'one of the best strikers in the world'.

Robin. Calm down pal. It was only a throw away comment having a giggle mate. I'm fully aware there are plenty of good players wearing your shirt...past, present and future.

It was only a laugh, I'm sorry I just can't take this place seriously :)

Don't worry about Robin, he was convinced Rooney was going to lose his England place to Sturridge by the summer a few weeks ago and already Klopp wants to get rid of the hypochondriac!

Alright fair enough then, I realized it was probably just tongue in cheek but couldn't resist to reply anyway!

Re the bolded part; neither should you

Tbf that wouldn't have been a bad guess given Sturridge was pretty much solid injury wise during the 13/14 season. It's not his fault that Sturridge turned into a crook & Rooney became undroppable dross.

Oh weeks ago. I thought you said years.

IF I did say that, I'm 100% sure it was with a big bold disclaimer that such thing would only happen if Sturridge stays fit in the run-up to the Euros, something which will never happen. Still doubt those were my literal worlds though, Hodgson will never bench his captain.

On a sidenote, Sturridge is a better striker than Rooney tbf, don't see how that's disputible.

;) its alright Robin. You seem a decent fella.

I actually think the piss taking is premature, I think the improvements will come when he gets the right players in. I actually like Klopp which obviously is difficult to compute. If players like Texieria are coming your way, it would be a decent sign like.

That is as long as this nutty transfer committee lark doesn't ring true. No club can operate properly with folk signing players the manager doesn't fancy.

Very good odds if he stays.

From what I've read (mainly on here) he'd be a good signing but that trio wouldn't concern me at all.

Leo Messi on Rooney 2015

'Wayne Rooney is for me a once in a generation player. One of those special players, who is not comparable to any other,'

'There are many special players, but Rooney has exceptional quality and technical ability as well as being one of the strongest players I have faced with an exceptional work rate - there is nobody like him.'

Leo Messi on DStudge ever?

.......

You just don't get it. Sturridge isn't a crock he is a bottle job. His injuries are not even real. Why would England want someone like that leading the line? Rooney has faced dogs abuse all his career yet he always ends up contributing in an important way, this season for example, he probably had the most abuse and doubt from his own supporters ever, yet he is dragging us through this crap spell whilst Liverpool fade and Klopp tries to get rid of Sturridge.

Van Gaal says that Rooney is the best captain that he has ever had, there is more to football than slick finishes and crap dancing you know.

there was more to football than slick finishes and crap dancing you know.

Fixed that for you.

Rooney was a true great - One of the best players the league has ever seen, but now? I'd rather roll 1d20 needing 18 on Sturridge playing than watch Rooney play football.

Sturridge is gutless, though. I'm at that point myself.

From what I've read (mainly on here) he'd be a good signing but that trio wouldn't concern me at all.
I'd agree that there's no go-to striker/goalscorer but Coutinho is very good and Firmino is showing signs of settling. Id say those 3 behind a semi-decent striker would be a good attack.

Agreed, but who knows when that'll come.

Benteke is a good player, but if we're not playing a system that suits him, then what's the point? Ings was looking decent, but only as a backup. Sturridge is broken, and Origi... Eh.

Would be happy with Cou/Firmino/Teixeira with Markovic/Lallana/Ibe as backup.

Lewandowski is
De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum. For me, Suarez is the better striker and it seems I'm not alone on that. Either way, there's not much in it.

FFS, talk about getting out of context. I didn't once argue Rooney isn't a once in a generation player, he clearly is and he was one of the best strikers in the world at some point. Right now he clearly isn't, Sturridge is just a better striker IF he's fit, granted that doesn't happen a lot. I really don't see how you could deny that. It's not because he's scored a couple of times in 2016 he's suddenly back to his old level, 95% of the Caf was fed up with him from August 'till December.

I'll drop it now because this isn't the thread to discuss this issue in and you obviously don't have a clue what I'm trying to get at.

Klopp:

"I have nothing to say about this [Teixeira]," he said.

"We could talk about a lot of players in the world and I could, if we had time for this, talk about the qualities they have.

"The January window is not the best and if you are under pressure then everyone wants prices where you think 'Are they crazy?'

"If you take a new player now we have a day to the next game, four days to the next so it is not a perfect moment.

"We have to watch the market, to think about what makes sense for us now plus for the summer.
