Alex Teixeira

Do they really need another attacking midfielder? Would be an excellent signing nonetheless.

By all accounts he has a bit of pace and ability to stretch defences. I'm not sure how much of an actual winger he is, but he must be better out wide than Lallana/Firmino etc.

Definitely don't want to see him at Chelsea or Liverpool but he's way too exciting and forward thinking for a possession based 1 mph style of play that we have. Martial is breaking the mold so I doubt we'd want another. Although Martial/Teixeira  or even an on form Depay Martial Teixeira.

Also he looks a much better player than Anderson at Lazio.

All this even though LVG has said he's looking for players with pace and trickery about a million times.

Yes I know but talk is talk, when we start signing these players I will change my tune.

if he goes to liverpool and we chuck 32 million at lazio for anderson, it will be as stupid as buying memphis or playing rafael in midfield.
If you dont know, he is currently scoring a goal a game, is quick very good passer and makes assists. He can play any forward position and is a delight to watch. He is like an improved version of willian maybe a level above him. It will be a mistake like we made with suarez( he wanted to play for us or barcelona when he was at ajax). I dont know ehat our scouts are doing? or if we have any scouts who are not blind.

I'll be fuming if Liverpool get him and we aren't even in for him.

To be honest though, I would of thought getting a #9 who fits how they play would of been more of a priority.

Completely agree.

Get him and Pato in so we can play an all-Brazilian front four

Seriously though, I'd love him at Liverpool. Their asking price of €50m seems a bit steep, but it could turn out either way depending on how he performs. What Bayern paid for Douglas Costa seems peanuts now.

It's safe to say we aren't chucking that kind of money for Anderson.

Any idea why any of the better sides in Europe aren't in for him if he's as good as many in this thread suggest? I've not seen him much (if at all) myself, but with the level of competition across Europe for players then how come Liverpool are seemingly getting a free-run at him?

Chelsea were heavily linked for a while. He must be alright, he seems at a similar (better?) level that the likes of Fernandinho, Willian and Douglas Costa were before him at Shakthar. 22 goals in 15 league matches doesn't sound bad at all. Not sure why other clubs aren't linked though, seems really bizarre.

He was linked with Chelsea for months, wonder what happened to that deal

Douglas Costa wasnt linked to many clubs if any, turned out to be a bargain. I would prefer him over Felipe, seems more consistent.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything, there weren't any top clubs interested in Costa either last Summer iirc and look how he's doing at Bayern now.

I doubt he'll join us, we're probably interested but will fail to complete the deal.

EDIT: feck off @izec :D

Do you not take confidence from the fact that Ayre has gone to their training camp in Florida? It will probably happen unless Chelsea do another Willian and hijack it.

I'd say the better teams in Europe have quality players already. The likes of Liverpool, us and even Chelsea (who he was strongly linked with) need better players right now. I remember when we were heavily linked to Douglas Costa back in the day before he ended up in the Ukraine, everyone was saying the same about him and now since he's at Bayern fans are respecting him more even though he was brilliant every time Shaktar played CL football. I'm not saying this guy is the best thing since sliced bread but right now he would be a great fit for clubs with very few high quality attacking players and that negates the majority of the better sides in Europe.
As for Liverpool getting a free run maybe their rumoured bid will start a domino effect with other interested clubs.

Didn't know that, encouraging sign but still, I'll believe it when I see it.

Scored two against Madrid yesterday (One a pen) and has 21 goals and 5 assists in 23 apps so far this season.

His reported price is £30 million and Chelsea are front runners to sign him.

So, is he another Costa? Or is he overrated? Also, how did Shaktar obtain so many top players?
Wow

Didn't Memphis score close to a goal a game last season?

WTF? 26 years old. All these glorious reviews, stats and what not yet this fella has never made an appearance for the Brazilian senior team..The worst Brazilian team in my lifetime might I add.

Neither did Douglas Costa 'till the very end of 2014. Proves nothing.

Fernandinho and Willian had almost no caps for Brazil when they moved. The Brazil coaches probably aren't interesting in what players are doing in the Ukrainian league.

Brazil haven't picked their best players for the last 10 years, and every new coach they've had end ups bringing back their old guard for the tournaments anyway. Brazil has a far greater talent pool than most national teams with many players playing in the backwater leagues around the world. They don't pay attention to them apart from the ones who play in europe's top leagues or the next wonderkid playing in theirs.

Why are we not pursuing this guy? For an attacking midfield, he has very good numbers, regardless of what league he's doing it in. We should be all over this guy, in my opinion.

Have you seen him play? just a general question.
