Alex Sandro | On the market in January

Who’s the better player, Alex(Sandro or Telles)?

I follow Juventus very closely and I have to say that Sandro would be an ideal LB for Mourinho.

He is - in my opinion - similar to Valencia, both are physically strong and really fast wing-backs that can be - and have been - used in a 4-2-3-1, as well as a 3-

5-2 formation.

Sandro, to me, is better than Valencia offensively, since he has more skills on the ball, which makes him less predictable than Valencia. The latter on the other

hand is better at tackling and defending in general.

Sandro is also more creative and technically skilled than Ashley Young, if you ask me.

If we were to buy Sandro and recall Pereira I'd consider that a successful winter window.

January is a bit premature, in my opinion. Quite a few reasons for this...

  1. Mourinho talked yesterday about giving Shaw chances this season, so if he goes and signs a new top left back in 3 weeks then that goes out the window.
  2. Ashley Young is currently playing very well and deserves to keep playing so long as he keeps delivering.
  3. We have quite a few LBs as is and need a clear out, more quality over quantity. Best time for this is the summer.

I had Shaw as certain to go (still think he'll go to be honest) but if Mou wants to give him chances, then we should re-assess the situation after those chances are given. My belief on that is that Shaw has a slim chance of reaching the level Sandro is at, while the latter is a finished product and a certainty. I would sell Darmian and one of Blind/Shaw depending on how Shaw does. Then bring a quality LB like Sandro.

Not going for Sandro because we have Shaw and Young? Are you serious?

Need to get him before Chelsea do.

Who’s the better player, Alex(Sandro or Telles)?

Err there's no competition in that. Alex Sandro is way better. Telles is a decent player but even if we compare Porto careers Sandro was way more impressive.

He's better, fitter, taller, younger and better than Danny Rose. We should go all in for him.

They wanted around £60m but think we might be able to do a deal for around £50m.
No they didn't. Chelsea offered £60m but they turned it down

For them to sell in january, it's not a matter of price, it's a matter of them having a replacement they can sign(who can play in CL) OR alex sandro pulling a dembele/gallas/payet

There's some kind of mystification of Mourinho among Brazilians.
If United are really interested and Mourinho calls him he will sign i have no doubt.

The Telegraph recently wrote that Juve asked for £80m in the summer, which Chelsea naturally declined to offer. They did also write that Sandro could be available for a lot cheaper (£50m) in January after he's pushing for a move.

They're probably right about the first, wrong about the second. At least for now. If Alex Sandro pulls a Dembele there's little else juventus could do but sell. But otherwise, they'll only sell if they can replace him, and then likely for more than £50m. Alex Sandro wanted to leave last summer too, nothing much has changed so far

Hasn't it been said that Juve are in some financial struggles and with the underperforming squad, are looking to rebuild? Might make things more feasible.

I listened to a bit of that podcast posted on this, where it's mentioned that clubs have the chance to make one addition to the CL roster. Seemed to say that a one cup-tied player could be included, but I guess I heard that wrong...anyone??

I agree. The article does go on about how Juve are unlikely to sell, unless they get a suitable replacement as well. As things stand, I don't think there's much chance of Sandro leaving in January and not for less than say £60m.

Just asking. Telles looks very good at the moment!

If there's a chance to do this, it's an easy decision. Massive upgrade.

I hope you don't mean Young. :)

On current form,I struggle to count up to four left backs in Europe that I will take over Young right now and Sandro is not even one of them.

I do agree that he'll be an upgrade on the rest of our left back contenders though. And his age will always be an advantage.

They would've sold him but Chelsea didn't meet their asking price. Don't think Chelsea even came close to what Juve wanted.

If his performances have dipped due to him wanting out then his price will decrease further.

They didn't want to sell. Chelsea didn't meet their price, they didn't make an offer demential enough to convince juventus to sell. There's a difference

His price might dip next summer if he still wants to leave -in the sense that it would take a huge offer rather than a hilarious one

The issue for Juve is he wants out if reports are to be believed. Juve naturally are gonna publically state he's not going anywhere to maximise a potential incoming transfer fee.

I also don't believe Chelsea made a offer as high as what's been reported in the press. Gonna agree with Duncan Castles on that.

Only if the player played in the Europa League in the first half of the season and is then being registered for the Champions League with his new club in the second half (or vice versa). They can't play in the same competition with two different teams.

So if we got someone like Ozil or Sanchez who have only played in the Europa League we would be able to register them (not both though - a team can only do it for one player). But we couldn't for Sandro.

Sounds like Delaney has just done a 180 on Rose to United and is copying Castle's article. Interestingly, Delaney also mentions that we may also move for Weigl next month. But, I really can't see the need for Dortmund to sell Weigl mid-season.

Delaney did a Delaney. He makes it up along the way and just copies other journos

Hopefully Dunc is right on this one. Would transform the left side.

It is the other way round and pretty straightforward with Marotta: the player can go in June as soon as one club meets his fee. Reports about him being unhappy are bs, he is not doing a Diego Costa and there is no reason to sell in January. This "On the market in January" is just clickbaiting kool aid.

Imagine our left hand side of the pitch......Sandro....Pogba....Martial

If we could land this target, it would be immense..!!

Ah, thank you for clearing that up! Makes sense.

Is Sandro the real deal or is it more so him being the best available LB and therefore extra hype being attached to him?

I think he’s a sound player with an all around toolbox but don’t see him being out of this world or extraordinary. Age wise, what he already brings to the table + ability to grow more / unlock a few more levels to his game maybe, get why we or anyone would be interested but technique wise I would say he’s a mix of what we already have in Valencia and Young. I mean it’s not a bad thing as we need a long term successor to both the LB+RB positions so it would definitely tick one of those boxes if United are able to get him.

...and to clarify what I meant by the extra hype is £60M seems quite ridiculous for someone like him. Or is that just the going rate in today’s market or is it Juvé trying to take the piss and getting United to open up the chequebook as all clubs try and do?

Lets see if other newspapers follow suit, if they do, we might have seen a definite brief on part of the club, either to get sandro or lower Rose's price.

The only LB who is better than Sandro is Marcelo and we aren't getting him, so Sandro for sure is the best we can dream of for such a position. He's definitely better than anything Rose will become in the future imo.

Just find it hard to believe that he’s available. Surely this isn’t true.
Juve aren't scared of selling a player when he's reached his peak valuation. Theyd expect a good fee for Sandro, certainly in excess of the cost of replacing him.

Who's better than him other than Marcelo? If you want one of the best players in the world in his position at his absolute peak, you need to pay up.

Filipe is up there too - probably better, but Sandro would be the dream.

Alex Sandro wanted to leave last summer, too. Nothing much has changed. Juventus aim to win the CL, they are not going to sell unless they either find a replacement they believe would be better for them, or Alex Sandro disintegrates his relation with the club

Next summer is another story altogether, but in January the chances of them letting him go are next to zero

Trust the state funded shits to come along and spoil the party.
