40m for Ox is a ridiculous deal. Holy shit. Same price as Matic. Less than Salah. Jesus.

Agreed that's a heck of a lot of money, transfer market is crazy. Makes Salah look like a bargain.

Bad business. 40m for a mediocre player in the last year of his contract. I puked a little when I read that Klopp wants to use him in midfield?!!

I think the price is stupid for a player like him who's in his last year of contract.
I agree. His numbers are really unimpressive for an attacking player.

35 mill. Still time for things to go wrong though.
I think he could be good for you. Not as a CM, because he isn't anywhere near good enough. But he could play as an advanced midfielder, or as one of the outside forwards in a front three.

Salah/Chamberlain/Mane

That's probably the fastest attack in the league.

They're not going to drop Firminho for him. Not a chance.

I must be in the minority who thinks he would do well as a box to box midfielder for Liverpool.

That said the £40m we spent on Matic is looking like a bargain. For those who said we shouldnt sign him because theres no resale value, well we could double our money if we put him on the market today

Jesus. If this guy was playing in Iceland, we would have no clue who he is. He works his ass off, but like a lot of English players, lacking technically.

And he is not worth 40 million either.

I'm just glad we bought Lukaku when we did. The market was already insane but it's jumped up another level even in just the last month.

Forgot about Firminho. Well, I still think he has a place in their squad. They lack depth. Their first XI could do with improving, but they also need reliable attacking options from the bench.

They'll play like this :

Henderson
Ox - Coutinho
Mane - Firmino - Salah

Their attack is strong enough to guarantee a top 4 finish but their defense won't make them finish in top 2

They're not gonna drop Can and Wijnaldum as both of them have started the season excellently. Plus there's Lallana too.

No way Ox starts ahead of Coutinho or Lemar or Can.

Even Lallana or Gino W are a much better option.

If he's being signed as a winger and not as a work horse midfielder, I can see him improving his numbers significantly in that Liverpool team. Not worth £40m but a decent signing for a team really lacking in depth.

You made them already sign him ?

He has no place on the flanks unless they bench their 35m signing Salah, so the only possible way is him replacing Can.

He's definitely not Jose player. He lacks the physicality to play in a midfield two, which is what we're opting for lately (against the lesser teams). When we face the tougher sides, Herrera or Fellaini will slot in beside Matic/Pogba. Chamberlain would be redundant in our side.

How the feck did Arsenal manage to sell him for 40 mil? It's even bigger robbery than us flogging Danby to them.

He must have been given assurances of some kind to turn down Chelsea and for Liverpool to pay so much for him but there isn't really an obvious position for him in that team. Strange deal.

I'm fairly pessimistic about Utd and have a lot of 'shit myself' moments when a rival makes a signing. This is not one of those times

An average player but can play in multiple positions. I assume his preference will be CM and most likely to compete with Lallana and Gini however if Mane or Salah get injured, he can play out wide.

23 years of age and presses well so i can kind of understand why Klopp has gone for him. If they get Lemar on top and keep Coutinho, then that is good depth for Pool.

No way that Chelsea were in for someone that poor. Someone mentioned earlier he has 9 goals/18 assists in 192 games...

If this is accurate then Conte must have had a lobotomy

9 goals and 14 assists in 132 games with Arsenal. Here are his stats:

Chelsea wanted him as a RWB. He'd have done a job comparable to Moses in that position, and also homegrown. It did make sense for them, but not for Chamberlain as he wants to start as a midfielder on a regular basis.

Ex-Southampton player. Of course he would choose Liverpool.:smirk:

Good deal for Arsenal. Or it would be, except we all know they are not going to spend that 40 mil on anyone worthwhile.

Another English player who thinks he is far better than he actually is, has good physical attributes but lacks a brain to play centrally. He'll be tried for few games in the middle before being shifted onto wing. Reminiscent of Danny Welbeck who left us to become first choice and play as a striker only to become a squad option out wide.

Can anybody tell me where he fits in to this Liverpool team ?

I think Jim White said before he didn't want to join Chelsea because he wanted to play through the centre and not at wingback, yet wingback is the only place i can see him fitting in.
