Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain completes his transfer to Liverpool

To be honest if the lad wants to go to play where he thinks he's best, and isn't pushing for the money then fair play to him.

Chelsea are guaranteed to be offering him better wages than Liverpool.

So that's why he didn't put one bit of effort in against Pool:rolleyes:
Just for that shite performance I would tell him, you either go to Chelsea or train with the reserves for the rest of the season. See how he likes that in a World cup year. Sounds like his attitude is, I can't get my transfer to Liverpool, so in the meantime I'll just hang around at Arsenal. You can't have this mentality from players, especially at a time like this.

Arsene way too soft with this lot.

Reading some of the assessments on here I'm amazed Chamberlain is actually a professional footballer. Apparently he lacks all the requisite talents to play the game well.

Rejected by Oxlade fecking Chamberlain...Conte and the Chelsea board have messed up quite a bit this transfer window making themselves looking like a laughing stock. No real pull whatsoever, and here we have José who can pretty much get whoever he wants at will if he sees as a fit.

There isn't much between him and Lingard imo.

How come you have such a huge wages if your highest paid player is 150K per week? There were reports that Liverpool pay total 208 Million on wages and that's 3rd or 4th highest in the league.

Also when VVD was linked there were rumors that Liverpool will be paying him 180K-200K per week.
We have a lot put into bonuses. Getting to the Europa league and league cup final last year cost a lot.

Liverpool are having a terrific window. I don't rate Ox all that highly but he strikes me as one of those players who could go up a notch or two under Klopp. They like players who can beat a man centrally and drive into space. Wijnaldum is someone I thought would make a poor CM. But he can dribble and has pace so it works under Klopp where the players don't need to be great passers because the system allows them to create chances regardless.

I don't think their midfielders play many eye of the needle passes because the set up ensure there is always space.

question to Arsenal fans who watch him regularly. how good is his passing in Midfield?

Average. Not that creative but has the odd 'driving from midfield' runs.
He has been given his chances there and has never really done much.
He is also a liability anywhere near your box as he easily loses concentration and get dispossessed. He has cost us points and goals before by being directly dispossessed.
Wenger plays him rwb to make use of his skills as any possession turnovers are not that dangerous there and he has space to run which is not there as a CM most of the time.

Unfortunately he, like Walcott, is too stupid to understand that what he wants and what he can do are two different things.

I won't lose any sleep over him leaving, plenty of chances and failed to live up plus Injury prone.

If his desire is to play for Liverpool and his contract runs down next year, why should he be forced to move to Chelsea now?

He is contractually obliged to spend another year at Arsenal which he will if he doesn't get to move to Liverpool now, probably. Footballers should actually be allowed to fulfil their contracts sometimes.

I think when a player turns down Chelsea to go play for Liverpool, you have to stop to question his mentality/sanity.

Terrific window? Till date they have signed Salah for first team and that's it. Robertson will be rotating with some LB and Solanke is back up. Keita will be joining next season and Coutinho's future is still undecided. They are linked with millions of players but till date nothing is done. They haven't even made bid for Ox and signing him won't make their window Terrific as he is not someone who will be taking them level higher.

Interesting. I think papers report few wages including bonuses and some just basic pay.

Not sure he'd get many more games in CM at Liverpool than Chelsea. Especially after this season when they bring Keita in.

Hope this doesn't mean AOC knows something we don't know and the Lemar deal has fallen through.

He turned down Chelsea???

He should've been grateful beyond belief that they wanted him in the first place.

I would agree with this assessment totally. And I'm an LFC fan. Hope we're not seriously considering him as our Lemar backup, instead we're just trolling both Arsenal and Chelsea. :D

He always strikes me as someone with a bad mentality. Conte doesn't strike me as the kind to put up with shite so this will be very interesting.

I like you Jazz, we think alike.

He's nothing but a pace merchant who seems to have a decent engine.

I think he is basically going to replace Milner's role in the squad if he comes.

I think when a player turns down Chelsea to go play for Liverpool, you have to stop to question his mentality/sanity.

Agreed. I'd level the same accusation at Keita. Agreeing to sign for Liverpool twelve months before an attractive release clause activates smacks of desperation on the player's part. He'd have a lot of suitors next summer if he was to maintain his good form. You'd wonder does the player himself fancy maintaining that form or feel as though this is his one chance?

I'd take the Ox all day over Lingard.

But reports state he really wants to play centrally. He's got good enough for us as a CM/10. Nor Chelsea, and I doubt he'd play much centrally for Liverpool either. Chelsea want him as Moses competition RWB, probably why he rejected them

He's in a predicament. He's right to leave arsenal, they are in dire need of a new manager and a shake up.

If he indeed ends up at Liverpool then you can guarantee that his rumoured wage demands were likely false. No way are going to pay him any more than 120k. Coutinho is our best paid player at 150k!
....
I do think that people include also the signing fee in these calculations. Hence, if you include that then he'll likely earn more than 150 K per week.

I'm not realistically sure he's going to be a CM anywhere, there's nothing stand-out about him in that position. He's a good player but he's become a bit of a utility one nowadays.

I really can't see him coming to us. He's okay, but not better than Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum or Lallana. That means he wouldn't play much in cm, and I don't think he'd come to Liverpool just to sit on the bench.

For us though, he'd provide some much needed width, which we could really use.

question to Arsenal fans who watch him regularly. how good is his passing in Midfield?

Getting his head up and finding a player with his final ball is his big weakness. If he ever sorted that out he'd be very good. His shots too seem predictable. His main strength in midfield is dribbling the ball upfield at pace, he eats up the pitch.

What a fool.. No where near good enough to play a central role at any top club.

He is a good RWB with potential to be a very good one.

Huge mistake that he will regret not going to Chelsea.

To be fair, he probably has more than enough "advisors" who are whispering in his ear that he is the next big thing in midfield.
This seems to be the case with many other similar cases.

Can Liverpool afford him, though?
Let's face it, if Coutinho was staying, Keita wouldnt be a Liverpool player, bids wouldn't be going in for Lemar. They walked away from Keita once coz they couldn't match the quoted fee.

But the Coutinho money will only go so far (Keita, Lemar, probably VVD).

Really don't want him at Liverpool. An attack minded Midfielder that has a whole 9 goals in the Prem, that's assuming he's not on the treatment table giving Sturridge company.

I hope Klopp doesn't even entertain the idea of signing this clown.

First VVD, now this guy. Why does every premier league player want to go to Liverpool this season over Chelsea and other clubs? Needy for hugs from Klopp?

Or perhaps Ox thinks he won't get playing time at Chelsea due to competition.
