Alejandro Garnacho (out)

He’s a talent. He’s young. Don’t sell for me. If Amorim and his coaching team are all we hope they are then Garnacho can be coached into a place in this team.
I want players who get me out of my seat to stay at United. He has the potential to be that consistently.

You realize the entire point of the thread is speculating on his actual transfer value relative to future value right?

Name one thing Garnacho has markedly improved on since coming into the squad? The only one that a case can be made is his defensive work rate and attacking positions he takes up.

We shouldn't be looking to buy another 20 year old thats going to average a goal or assist every 3 games in the PL while having poor overall play. The entire point is buying a player of higher quality with the 60m or so we'd get from selling him.
I think you are the one who's been missing the whole point throughout the thread. You don't think he's got the potential that others do, fine. No need to keep banging on about the same thing.

No, must have missed this information, thought it was about his potential transfer.

I see you answered it yourself.

We are not after a ready made player for now as well I don't think, we're building a team to compete in a couple years, and Garnacho is certainly good enough to be a part of it.

I think it'd be a travesty selling him now, he's one of the highest rated young players in the world, safe to say his value will be going up as he enters his prime years (in about 3-5 years time). Fans with patience span of a tiktok video can't see it, oh well.

"Safe to say his value will be going up as he enters his prime years"... I don't think that's "safe to say" at all though which is where we differ completely. No point in arguing more, although thinking it has anything to do with "patience" on my end after a decade of watching us be "patient" with every player while they crater their market value playing poorly for years on end is hilarious. I apologize for hoping the club becomes a bit more forward thinking and willing to make "hard" decisions that fans might not like with regards to sales.

If you can’t distinguish performances from output (especially when a good amount of that was in the league cup against Barnsley) I’m not sure what to tell you. Anyone who’s watched Garnacho would tell you his best attribute right now is probably his positioning in the final third
I’ve replied to a comment from a poster calling him atrocious which he has not been. Also if you are calling out his carabao performance v Barnsley you can also call out his assist v Arsenal , assist v Liverpool and goal v City in CS. Like I said some posters just want to criticise our players.

I agree, mate. Not the kind of player to move on from unless he has lost his work ethic.

Wait we are counting community shield stats now?

And I don't "just want to criticise" our players at all, I'd prefer Garnacho was a world beater and we won the treble constantly. But I'm tired of rehashing this, my original point was always that people put too much value on our young/academy players to where they are never willing to sell any of them or accept that they might not be as good as you think.

I wonder about both his work ethic/attitude and his desire to be at United. I doubt I'll ever know, but if the attitude and/or desire aren't right, then it's better to get rid now while the market value is still high as a poor attitude will just yield a declining performance level over time (and we end up with another Rashford type situation).

Feels like there has been an improvement in his performance levels since being dropped for City

I think this is one of those moments where we need to sell when the stock is high of a player. We always complain top clubs get good fees for players. Its because they evaluate if the player is good enough for them or look at its ceiling and based on that make a rationale decision. Whereas we as a club is far too emotional. It has cost us a lot with managers as well (i.e. not sacking at a right time)

I think anything above 50M pounds we should take and run. Garnacho is too raw and has no exceptional quality, his best version may still not be good enough for us. Currently he is a good squad player, that we can use and his effectiveness is only against tired defenses.

But the problem is we are already very light in forward areas and with him going and Rashford also about to leave we will leave ourselves with no attacking options except Zhirkee (Mount is no longer an option). Unless we sign an attacker, we should wait till Summer and get a bidding war going.

People need to not try and make this about anything other than money, this is a pure financial decision. He is the easiest player to sell for a large profit to "ease PSR concerns". Don't make it about his attitude or Amorim's preference, we have owners who can't afford to run the club properly and they need to sell the soul of the club to extend the charade a little longer.

Just for a little Clarity, Abramovic estimated wealth is around 10 Billion, Ratcliffes is around 16 Billion, in Dollars that is by the way.

This weird thing people have about him not having the money to run the club needs to stop, he's already invested 380 million of his own money in this year alone. Just because he's not running it like PSG or City does not mean he's not able to.

Just give him the big contract that he's obviously after, so that I can start moaning about how he's not trying on the pitch anymore.

It's not about the owners being able to fund it. We have a cash flow problem and years of shit transfers that have caught up with us.

Yeah the 12 years of mismanagement is really hurting us in a very big way right now

Unless we were bringing in someone like Rodrygo it’d be absolute madness to sell Garnacho.

He’s got a very high ceiling. Yes he’s had a bit of a difficult time at points this season, but he’s got 13 G/A in 30 appearances (some of which have been as a sub) in a really poor United side.
