So I take it you both think Ten Hag has done a very good job of coaching this year, getting the available squad to fight above their weight measured in player quality?
It certainly balances out some of the other opinions around.
For me, I think you are not so wrong in terms of Garnacho’s current strength. Which to me is very impressive for his age, given the current spending power of the PL. I think it is very good that Ten Hag has given him so many minutes, thinking ahead, while it also reflects to me the lack of good attacking options we’ve had, given Sancho’s personal implosion, Antony’s fall from useful to lost post investigation/blackmail, Rashfords reentering the dark side of his cyclical development, Martial’s injuries/showing his true nature, Amad’s stunted development due to injury, you could add Mount’s injuries and of course Greenwood’s continuing limbo situation.
I think an optimist would have said that we had a reasonable wealth of options going into the season, if not necessarily the quality of the best teams up front. At this point, it aeems the pessimists have been vindicated on almost every possible count.
In view of that, I think Garnacho and Højlund deserve praise for taking more than decent turns at having much more responsibility than they should reasonably have.
