An offer of £20k a week isn’t enough for a player who is contributing to the first team effectively already. 30-40k with performance based add ons maybe. Key that we get this sorted as the tapping up will have already started from the likes of Madrid.

And especially not when he's supplying match winning assists in the derby.

I'd agree with the performance based add ons. A reasonable wage with somewhat generous guaranteed add ons should keep the incentive there to keep his eye on the ball. Will be interesting to see as I believe the club has been a bit too generous in giving high wages to young talents who have yet to fully prove themselves.

They have been in the past and that might work, but he needs to be guaranteed enough money so that he's not tempted to bugger off elsewhere.

Could there be a clause that if he reaches certain goals/assists his wages would go up to a certain agreed wage. If he reaches such goals surely he's deserving of such a wage then. Like if its true Brandon Williams is on 65k,lessons need to be learned. I'd agree though you don't want him to bugger off elsewhere, hopefully it's all sorted behind the scenes already. He's a great talent.

There can be a clause for anything really and those sort of things are routinely included, I would imagine. As @Withnail mentions the guaranteed salary needs to be sufficient.

Encouraging news. I like how Ten Hag has managed Garnacho, he hasn't put too much pressure on him by thrusting him into the spotlight too much and has kept him hungry. The comments about attitude are interesting, I think that's why Ten Hag is so big on setting a culture. Stamp out stupid behaviour from a cnut like Ronaldo and young player with the talent of Garnacho immediately knows what the standards are.

On a side note, I don't know if this is led by the club or Ten Hag but it's nice to see we seem to be learning our lessons of giving young players too much, too soon. Give him a good contract but leave some scope for improvement with the knowledge that there's more where that came from if he keeps doing the business.

I know exactly what ETH means, and it's not just dribbling. He seems to glide around on the pitch.

If it means offering 30 or 40k a week instead of 20 with future incentives just do it.

I could be wrong but these are the current per week wage of our forward players from several sources found on the internet:

Sancho - £350k
Martial - £250k
Rashford - £200k
Antony - £200k
(Greenwood - £75k or £0k)
Weghorst - £35k
Diallo - £29k
Pellistri - £20k
Elanga - £5k
Garnacho - £5k

I think offer him anything around £50k-£75k in 5 years deal would be good enough for now. We can always promise him we would review his contract later if his progression is good, to at least matching with club range.

Top performers/star players - £200k+add ons
Established first team players - £120-200k
Squad rotation/backup - £60k-100k
Youth/backup - £5k-£50k

We should probably do more deals with add-ons too in general. Performance based/pr match played or similar. Sancho and Martial's wages seem quite ridiculous in hindsight.

Seen conflicting details on his contract, I know United have added the extra year but does it now end in 2024 or 2025?

If we're being honest mate, I don't think anyone has a clue

EtH has put the Ronaldo fire out, Maguire is nowhere near the starting eleven and Rashford is performing...So the media is a bit low on fake drama to write about.

Enter Garnacho! and his contract situation...by all accounts he has years to go on his contract and the club is renewing it...why is it being discussed every other post (which I am now guilty of doing)

Back on topic!

His development has been a big plus this season...looking forward to watching him again tonight against Palace.

Elanga is on considerably more money than that

Guardian says it ends in 18 months with a one year option to extend by the club. So effectively 25. It also says Real Madrid and Juve are sniffing around.

United is a club that never really has issues rewarding players when they're performing so signing a 7 year deal at United is not a big deal. Guy has another great season next season and we'll be upping his wages again

30k initially is a good shout. Surely there will be add ons and mechanisms for that to increase based on performance/appearances etc. No problem with his salary drastically increasing over time if he keeps developing well.

As a young player, this United under ETH is the ideal place for him to continue his development. Great news of true but let’s wait on official confirmation.
