Alas poor Carrick...WTF has happened?

I'm pretty sure MoneyMay's next video will come without a pre-warning!

This video absolutely needs it's own thread.

In fact, we should have a Premiere... Red Carpet and everything, a Q&A with the director, and Brophs can introduce it.

Im surprised you didn't say Top or Damien should introduce it. But I agree with you, this video definitely needs its own thread and has already gained a lot of momentum.

First, feck you, Secondly I actually meant Brwned...

Brophs... Brwned... whats the difference aye?

Well feck you right back and yes that does make more sense. But I don't think Brwned will be fair considering he doesn't like the video? Either way, moneymays video definitely reserves the VIP treatment.

Jonno, I don't think you know how long it takes to make a video...

Anyway, the video is rendering as of now. It WILL be uploaded today. For music, I decided to use Ludovico Einaudi - Oltremare. I used passes that I thought were sound. As for effects, I don't really use them in my videos. I increase the contrast to avoid getting caught for copyright, which though hasn't been proven to actually work - it's working for me and that's important.

MoneyMay has balls continuing his launch of the video. The majority of people would probably back away and upload it under a different name if they were met with this much hate.

Like I said, get it in a new thread, contact Brwned and ask him to write an introductory paragraph, then you can hold a Q&A session after.

It's okay, mate. I'll post the video in this thread. Cheers for the advice, though.

No you fecking won't. You shall listen to AN and get this video in its own thread so that we can all bask in its glory, I'm expecting a pm from you as well inviting me to the premier of this video. Also why you making it again, I thought you'd already uploaded it in the newbies?

Haha, all right. Nah that was a different video, mate. It was what Michael Carrick's job on the field is. The video that is rendering currently is a passing compilation (last season). That does remind me - LR7 said Carrick is our best passer (now that Scholes has retired). I find it hard to disagree with this.

I'm confused, so what was the video that Brwned was talking about? That's the one we're all waiting to see isn't it?

it's not very difficult to be our best passer given his "competition" in midfield, though.

True, but it's also not very difficult to appreciate and credit his passing. Those passes between the lines he makes are disgustingly good. I remember the England vs. Ireland game, where his vision was spectacular, as were the passes between the lines.

 so true, but Carrick is a brilliant passer of the ball regardless.

Nope. This was the video he was referring to:

He was mocking the annotations, but I had already explained on Twitter and on this forum that the annotations were made simple for the ignorant ones, those who essentially don't know why Carrick is fundamental to our play. The one you lot are ready to see is a compilation of his passes. Sorry for the confusion.

Gosh, you guys really know how to lay on a warm welcome don't you?!
MoneyMay should leave it until next week, and load every single pass with simple analysis just to upset the applecart ;)

I'm sure the next video will be sprung as a surprise!

Thanks MoneyMay, I now know what Carrick offers to our team with one of the best minutes of my life.

For what it's worth, the video he's making now is different to the one I'm talking about. Obviously I've not seen this one. I'm sure it's good though. It's only when the annotations come into play they look hilariously juvenile.

EDIT: Ah. Never mind.

he's another one of those that won't be truly apreciated until he's no longer playing for the club...although I must say the turnaround on here has been tremendous in regards to comments about his ability and worth

The turnaround occurred because, shock horror, he's been astounding for a long period now. He's been given his fair share of credit and stick by United fans.

thank you captain obvious...the reason I mentioned it is because he's been playing at a high level before he was getting this sort of praise...it's like it takes 2 full seasons of sustained excellency in order to be given sufficient credit on here, which I honestly think is bullshit. Not saying players should be given the "world class" tag after 1 great game but as a group (RedCafe posters) we're way too quick at blaming players, calling them out and throwing our toys out the pram when something goes wrong, while it takes us a shitload of time before we (again, as a group) recognize the worth of a player and give him credit where credit is due.
That's also why players like Nani for example will never be truly appreciated on here, because they can't perform the same way day in day out.

Nah, Carrick was dogshit for a few seasons, people said he was dogshit. He's been class for two seasons and people have been saying so for the whole two seasons.

Michael Carrick has played 40 or more matches for United for seven consecutive seasons! No other current United player has achieved that feat.
You don't do that by being dogshit.

Just seen the first part on United's FB page lol.

Don't disagree with the last sentence. He's played such a large part in our team since he has got here but, as is with a lot of players like him that make the team just work well without being fancy, don't get a lot of the recognition even outside their own fans.

Lot of United supporters have said for the full 7 years he's been very good. It probably just hasn't been fashionable for the media to catch on till now.

Michael Carrick had the lowest percentage in the league for a midfielder for backward passes on just 7.97% of total attempted passes!!

They'd be wrong though.

I thought he had a poor 2009/2010 season but other than that I think he's been very good

They'd be wrong though.

They wouldn't. Carrick has been absolutely instrumental in our success every season he's been here. He has stepped up a notch the past two season in more of a leadership role but the seasons before he was still consistently very good. He made it possible for our midfield to be successful by taking care of the defensive work and allowing Scholes and Giggs to flourish when partnerned with him. The past few seasons he hasn't had a consistent partner and has had to step up and become the main man which he has done wonderfully.

Carrick has been consistently good his entire time here, certainly never "dogshit" other than the rare game or two a season that every player has.

Don't think admins are changing titles of threads even when they don't apply. The Where Has Carrick question was answered long ago - just no one bothered to change the thread till after this season. And whoever changed it seems to be having a laugh at all those people that said he wasn't that good a player to be playing for United.

Which was probably the worst season for him to not perform to his standards.

Ronaldo had just left, and the spotlight was on him and pretty much the whole team that season.

Just had a mate say to me 'he's more underrated than Nicky Butt..' which I thought was quite interesting. He said Nicky Butt carried more goal threat which is true but I had never really thought of comparing him with Nicky Butt.

funny thing is players often tend to be compared with or deemed to be the next "insert name" based on their looks and playing position, while people aren't putting that much emphasis on actual playing style

and I don't know how the two are comparable realy, they might both be deemed underrated outside the club but that's about it. And even that doesn't really hold up that much because Carrick's been getting some recognition lately, I mean he's not a flashy player who scores a lot of goals so there's a limit to how much said player can actualy be held in high regards regarding people in general, not just those who are really interested in the game and subsequently a team/player.

Carrick isn't really underrated anymore. Clearly made his mark on his fellow professionals and you'll never convince a scouser or a city fan that he's as good as he is, but anyone with a brain knows what he does and how good he is at it.

Hopefully he can keep going for a few more years, he's got some momentum with 2 and a half seasons of very good form.
