Alas poor Carrick...WTF has happened?

Excellent performance for him.

Again excellent, people bang on about that doesn't pass forward but this game showed he was always looking for the forward and killer pass.

That was a level above any one else on the pitch.

It's unbelievable not to be winning the game after a performance like that.

Our best player today on the pitch without a doubt in my opinion. His passing was very good today and he was key for their pressure in midfield not tearing us apart.

I've not always rated his passing under pressure highly and I still see it as one of his weaker areas, but today he was very good in that department. Hopefully we'll be able to see more of this as the weeks progress to try and ease our midfield worries.

Still raised questions for me in defence. Especially for the goal. Backed off pointing and then watched stone footed as the ball got played past him.

A couple of times he let Michu ghost straight past him and recieve a ball under no pressure. He really has to stop that.. But I've been saying that for about 5 years now.

Apart from that in attack he was fantastic. Can someone timewarp fergie and trick him into letting us play a few games with a limited ball winner and Carrick as the link player?? :D

Man of the match. Feel sorry for him that Rooney, Young and Valencia were so incompetent.

Very good today. Well done, MC.

Who was it that claimed Carrick wasn't very good at reading the play? :wenger::lol:

Great game along with Cleverley today, the problem was on the wingers and Rooney today and one of those has been a problem for a long time.

(Not Rooney)

Harsh on Young, he was much better than those two. Fantastic game by Carrick anyway, shame it didn't buy us the 3 points.

Yeah he probably was your right. I was just frustrated with the 'handball' miss near the end which I thought he should have tucked away.

And he completely muscled someone off the ball, must be one of his highlights.

Head and shoulders the best player on the pitch. People don't notice him because he isn't a blood and thunder player and won't go steaming about the pitch like an alehouse clogger.

He was top class and has been for a while now. Along with RVP, the first name on the teamsheet for me right now.

Great once again, makes a massive difference for him having a mobile partner and a mobile attack. He's been more adventurous in his passing recently though, as with last season for a period, wish he'd do it continuously. Such a frustrating player in the sense that although I usually think he's done his job well you know he could do so much more. Today had others played better his performance probably would have been even better.

Solid performance. Passed the ball well and put in a good shift shielding the back four. Hopefully he keeps getting better and better.

You like that one don't you ?

No, you were correct, he was bad. Being better than Valencia isn't indicative of a good performence at the moment.

Extremely worrying is Valencia's form at the moment, I just don't understand what has happened? Hopefully with Kagawa back soon we can play him on the left and Young/Nani on the right. Valencia should be no where the team on current form.

People do notice him and give him plenty of credit for what he does; it's nothing to do with not being a blood and thunder type player. If that was the case then people wouldn't notice your Pirlo's, Alonso's etc.

Rubbish, he wasn't just better than Valencia. He was decent, nothing standout but not bad either. Obviously we'd like more from him (as he showed in his last few matches) but he shouldn't be critized more for an average performance than other players.

Me for one, not afraid to say it at all - some of his defensive work today was absolutely dire .

Wow, think you need to watch the match again, more than did his job there and was given a load to do as they had 3 players hovering centrally around Carrick who had little defensive support from Clev.

Outstanding performance. He's got that clockwise turn with the outside of his foot absolutely nailed.

I worry what happens if he gets an injury. Hes vision is fantastic. His level is above when hes next to somebody like Cleverley as opposed to Scholes or Giggsy.

According to Sky Sports we had 59.7% possession.

Clearly Cleverly was giving him some support.

He was great. The accuracy of his medium to long range passing through the middle is amazing.

I meant when we were defending, of course on the ball clev was helping, off it, whilst he wasn't doing nothing he certainly wasn't doing as much as he could.
