The state of this place to even say that 10 mil. for this absolute Harry MCFred of a player shows what we’ve become.

Not because our wage structure is a joke should we continue with this idiocy. The only reason his current wages are so high are because he came on a free to Juve. If the package is 55 mil (transfer+wages excluding mommy fee) then i’d rather just take a shot at a eredivisie, Liga portugal or Lique 1 player. They can’t be worse then Rabiot and we might find a penny left in the pocket of the Glazerboys to get ourselfs a Championship Level striker.

We should either loan him or pay nothing to Juventus, seeing as they want rid of him. That's what happens when we try to sell players on high wages

That's what Juve and Italian clubs seem to do.

Offer them a loan for 0 with an option, they can pay his wages and if he's shite send him back.

Apparently asking for around 200k a week....that's more than most the City and Liverpool squad are on.

 we've muscled out the mighty Monaco lets give him 200k a week!

He's asking for 10m Euro / year, which is about 162k pound a week

He's not worth more than £100k a week, this club needs to realise bargain basement buying should result in lower wages, we're going to struggle for top 6 this year again, so why are we paying top wages?

Because we are incompetent. Why we still go after players from big clubs who are already on big money boggles my mind. It's the same with de Jong who will also want massive money.

Exactly. If his options are us or Monaco, his ma dukes needs to get fecking real.

Our last 3 French signings:
Martial : had an issue with consistency
Pogba : had an issue with consistency, attitude and shitty agent
Varane : had an issue with injuries

If we sign Rabiot, we'd probably have all of those issues combined

Yes, we should become an anti-French football club

He probably doesn’t want to join us as much as we don’t want him. If he comes it’s because it’s an easy way to get into the French squad for the World Cup as he should be starting for us regular because our midfield is awful.

No because that doesn't mean all French players will fail here.
However the last three French players had their issues and 2 of them didn't exactly have good attitudes, at least not showing to have what it takes to succeed at PL with United. So what makes we think Rabiot, an alright player who thinks he's the reincarnation of Maradona, who is asking for a hefty salary, with an over protective mom that happens to be his agent, that was proven to be a difficult person to deal with based on their history with another club, including his own National Team, won't turn out to be worse than the ones we have signed previously? out of all French players we seem to pick the problematic ones in the past few years. Not to mention we also wanted Griezmann, the racist, la decision twat.

Instead of Rabiot we could try Sangaré, which actually plays in a position we really need.
This. Although Sangare might not be ideal ETH type of signing, he will still be an improvement from McFred, and better option than Rabiot.

Much more than an improvement: he's excelent in interceptions, very good at reading the game and very composed under pressure and taking decisions. Our defence would be much better covered.

Sangare is off the market, he signed a new deal with PSV only last week.

Not off the market: if he didn't signed the new contract his transfer price would be lower than his market value. They gave him a wage boost and extended his contract so they can get more value from his transfer.

This is common pratice in "second tier" league top clubs: whenever there is a player with high market value they try to extend their contract so they can increase the transfer fees.

Forget the French signing, who was our last successful signing?

We need to stop signing shit players on high wages.

We need to face facts ,the only reason many players will consider coming here are the very high wages we offer , it is certainly not for football reasons or to win things , currently this is the club you come to have your career stall or die.

Hopefully ETH can change that but we are certainly not the draw we once were and any ambitious player is going to be very weary of joining us if they have other options.

Having said that we are they only ones interested in Rabiot and will probably still end up paying him mega wages and impossible to shift if he is a let down.

It's true but that means that we should only target in form top players that want a big payday or inform prospects that want a payday. Someone like Rabiot is on paper not a good target for a big wage, it's more a case of a gamble by both parties, if he wants 10m then it should be as 1 year contract with a club option for an other one, if he does well the club can offer him an extension otherwise he is a free agent, even then 10m is too much, 5m plus a 2.5m CL bonus could maybe be a thing.

In the terms of impact I would say Ibra. And Bruno eventhough he has been struggling recently. Eriksen looks set to be the next one.

Point is, why bring in questionable characters into the dressing room? theres loads of French talents, so for us to pick the bad apples (minus Varane but he is injury prone) is a bit daft. Getting rid of Pogba and bringing in Rabiot, well done. Rabiot is better than Scott no doubt but be careful, we might find ourselves in the same situation as not so long ago with Pogba and his agent. With Ronaldo wanting out but having to stay, it doesnt look like a good idea to bring in even more troublemakers is it? difficult characters are the death of managers at United if you havent noticed.

I wasn't disagreeing . Just saying it has been a general problem and not limited to one nation.

The three French players I mentioned and their own respective stuggles at United was a fact, not an attempt to blame the whole nation. Jesus. People are so easily offended these days. At no point did I say we need to avoid French players. We just need to stop signing the ones with attitude issues. I'd give my left bollock for Kante if he was available.

The same Kanté that is always late and refused to get vaccinated? :wenger:

He fell out with PSG, not as if that isn't uncommon, and when fit, he's been picked every week by said clubs, he's only leaving for that price because he has a year left on his deal.

United fans are never fecking happy  That has no bearing on his career though.

There's really no harm in being just a little sceptical of this signing. There's plenty reason to be so.

But unhaply? Not me. I'll take almost anything right now in CM and he seems to be better than what we have.

Being late by 30 mins doesn't turn him into a McTomminay.
Refusing to be vaccinated (and missing US tour) is not the same as crying for a pay raise or "I go to Madrid, Barca, etc" while talking shit about the club and its legend on social media for years, then leaving on a free by the end of it all.

He is getting 7m net now, assuming the 10m euros he is demanding are in net, that's 8.4m pounds net, which works out to 12.1m pounds gross or 234k weekly.

yes, he is not worth that much wage outlay, however it could a fair amount if 50% of it are team performance related bonuses like cup wins and CL qualification bonus.

Who talked shit about the club and legends on social media and said that he would go anywhere? And Varane has been as injury prone as Kanté has been for a while.

I really like Kanté but it's pretty clear that you are not looking at him with the same eyes as you are watching the players that you mentioned even when he shares some of the issues that people would lose their minds with.

Not this again, you know someone did, via his agent.

I still want Kante though at least he is influential enough to the team that you are willing to trade it for some negatives. I would trade Pogba+Rabiot for Kante. I cant be looking at Pogba and Martial the same anymore after they wanted out. Varane excluded. I really like him, just havent been fortunate with the timing of his injuries and changing of managers. Yeah I am subjective.

Which of our French players had bad attitudes bro?
