Why is this taking so long? Mental how incompetent we are.

Murtough is dating his mother to appease her so we can conclude the deal.

Dirty dog.

Multiple trips Barcelona, a day trip to Turin and feck all to show for it. The worst of is that he was soaking up all the attention when the press caught him in Turin. A fecking chancer who shouldn’t be anywhere near running the recruitment for a club of our stature.

We agreed a fee nearly 10 days ago. Putting aside whether we think it’s a good signing of not - if the club and manager actually want him why the feck isn’t he here?

Good question we are looking so inept

Unfortunately it's what happens when you are jobs for the boys club, means your scouting is shocking and therefore recruitment too

This guy is Juve's McFred, they want him gone yesterday, praying we buy him. We are just making sure we get him earning enough money to make its impossible to ever sell him.
Juve McFred > Man Utd McFred, so I would say it’s still an improvement.

Rabiot would be horrendous...

I cant believe that we are actualling aiming for Rabiot, after hearing Ten Hag repeatedly say: 'We should get the right players'. I would 100% have us getting no-one in stead of bringing in Rabiot on another huge wage and multi year contract..

Dreadful prospect this..

Interested to hear your reasoning as to why?

I don't think it is a coincidence that even this deal is moving as slowly as it is and now suddenly Garner is for sale. Glazers aren't letting club spend.

Mostly because I dont think at all he is a player for the Premier League at all.. Rabiot is a decent player and can definitely play ball from a bit deeper in midfield.. But his play is so incredibly slow.. He takes so much time with the ball on his feet and hardly ever speeds up the game, because of this.. In Holland the word is handelingssnelheid.. I think he will be eaten alive in the physique and intensity of the Premier League..

Mind you, this is a crucial difference with Frenkie de Jong.. Frenkie basically does 9/10 times a one touch, by which speeding up the game while finding other spaces himself.. He will only start dribbling and keep the ball on his feet when he is either not pressured or sees a space to get to.. Rabiot hardly always had/needs more touches and hardly speeds up the game..

I'm not sure I'd characterise him as harshly as you have there, I'd agree that he probably doesn't progress the ball quickly forward, a la Frenkie, but I don't seem to recall him dwelling on the ball that much. There will always be the intensity question when coming from the continent, but could also be argued with how Frenkie plays as well and he is more risky if it goes wrong.

He has done it lately and it's remarkable because not usual.

I think he has all the potential to be nearly as big a flop as Saul was for Chelsea last season. That's how little I have faith in him being a success in the PL and for us.

I don't get the hate on here...he's not a superstar but he's vastly better than what we have. We need to improve, not sit around and wait for perfection. So we just write off this season because we can't get better than Rabbit right now? He's the best we can get now and I think we need to improve instead of a 2022 Redux.

Any word on what the hold up here is? United, Juventus and the player all want the deal to happen, but it hasn't happened? He's not very good, so I'm not especially bothered, but it is curious how it has managed to take so long.

I mention in my post why I think Frenkie is very different than Rabiot in in this aspect.. Frenkie - despite being know for his driblles and carries - plays one touch way more often than not and keep himself out of physical duels like that..

Generally I would say Frenkie accelerates play where Rabiot - despite being a good player - often slows it down..

Why do you make it a De Jong vs Rabiot topic though? These are two different players, that play different roles.

How have we not brought the deal across the gd line yet? The wages seemed much more reasonable than was made out

I'm with you on this, we obviously can't go out and get 3/4 world class players but we should definitely be improving on what we have.

This guy is much better than Mcfred it's a positive for me.

Maybe he doesn't fancy the move himself, perhaps? Not in the CL and not looking likely to be in it next year already.

Maybe Rabiot thinks he's better than Europa League football and then possibly No European football at all in 23/24.

Agree, but I saw incoming that my comments about how I think Rabiot is flawed would be projected on the player Frenkie as well (as there are definitely some comparisons)..

A £15m move for Adrien Rabiot is close to completion and United are waiting for offers for James Garner to fund the transfer.

Around £120mil was kicked about in the press.

Factoring in Malacia, Martinez and having funds aside for de Jong then it might be needed at that point and owners want the money in guaranteed before sanctioning the move.

Not agreeing with, just going through the steps in my head to rationalise it.

Apparently we had to wait for his match ban to play out. Which it did yesterday. But we can believe we never had £15m if you want.

This makes perfect sense and is very obvious. Not sure why everyone keeps saying there’s no money - the budget is 120m plus sales. Oddly enough other clubs do sell young players - it’s only when we do it with Garner it’s some moral outrage. Maybe we shouldn’t have spent 60m on a CB when we only have 4 senior attackers? Just a thought.

Thought the plan was to have him in in time for Liverpool...

Club seems perfectly content taking their sweet time once again
