Adrien Rabiot / completing formalities at Juventus

Juventus could sign someone expensive like Koulibaly or Chiesa to strengthen their team with the money they saved by getting quality free midfielders.

Possible outcomes:
Pogba goes to Juve and Rabiot comes here or Pogba goes to Madrid and Rabiot goes to Juve.

Lets pray...

Or, Woody finally get his a** up and signs Rabiot - with Pogba to stay ...

Well that's another target going somewhere else. The Longstaff, MacTominay combination is looking ever more likely. Yay.

Chiringuito: Rabiot to Juve, 10 million commission and 5 year contract at 7 million a year.
If this is true I am seriously shocked. Was convinced he was coming here on the premise that if he wasn't, Ed wouldn't have let Herrera go so easily. Some things make no sense to me.

For goodness sake, what is the state of our midfield going to look like next season, starting to lose faith in the direction that we are being steered towards.

Why are we taking el Chiringuito as reliable? They're only reliable when it's Real, I thought?

If only Juve hade the same money as city, United, real madrid and so on ,they probably would have put togheter the best squad ever. it's incredible to se the work they have done with barely any money. If they get rabiot and or Pogba they only need a good centre back to win the CL. Perhaps they also need a better striker than mandzukic ( Maybe lukaku? Knowing our board they probably would accept a fee for about 50 million quid.) Even though im not lukakus biggest fan, i still think he would dominate in the serie a.

Yahoo France also, whose source is from Rabiot's camp -- according to Sport Witness, I think.
Ah yeah, just read the comments, the first report they did was just quoting Chiringuito. They've doubled down since.

Another missed opportunity to sign a top quality player, forget that he was a free transfer he was just the type of player we needed. Finding it hard to be optimistic in this transfer window getting turned down by a number of top European talents like Rabiot, De ligt and Rodri (not sure if we were in for him but was reported) is worrying. We'll end up having to pick up the scraps from clubs unwanted players. Think it's going to be a tough few years.

Still find it funny that so many thought we had a chance of signing Rabiot.

Why wouldn't we? We've signed lots of big names despite being pap (just turns out they're pap for us as well), and he's not that big a name.

Ah yes. The Spanish news outlet reporting the transfer of a French player from a French club to an Italian club. Seems legit.

I don't know anything about what's going on behind the scenes but I can't shake off the feeling that our idiotic board did not try hard enough to land him.

He could have been a wonderful addition to the squad. Still wishing that the rumors are false but whatever

Not sure we could have done much to get him here once Juve decided to move on him, we just can't compete seriously. He has been in Italy for a few weeks now schmoozing with the club and so short of them offering a derisory salary he was always likely to sign on the dotted line. Once again we were simply the fallback option to make sure that Juve didn't lowball him.

Now watch us pursue a nobody like Longstaff when this guy would have added immediate first team quality - as a free transfer! Probably second best player after PP right away.

To be fair Woody has had his hands full with the Wan Bissaka negotiation, not to mention the Mata extension. Multi tasking not his strong suit and he has his hols coming up

No we've deteriorated significantly.

I really don't think we have though. There's an argument to be made for not improving = deterioration of reputation, but we're about the same otherwise. If you'd like to explain why you think so I'm all ears.

We haven't been in a state like this since the old days that's why.

Looks like we're in the same state as we've been in since Moyes to me.

No we've deteriorated significantly.

To some extent SAF's superior managerial expertise was papering over the chasms. However, even I believe even that could only have lasted so long and the signs of decline have been there since Ronaldo's departure.
