Adnan Januzaj

Not enough people are pointing out that even if your replace it with "very very shrewd" the post makes absolutely no sense, electrifying situation.

Electrifying situation is actually my favourite part. Berry Berry Shrew is good, no doubt, but it's a bit mainstream for me.

Agreed, it's a genius phrase. Kevin has such a way with words. He's the next Shakespeare.

I also don't think "the ones who will cobtribute heavily to the upcoming thread of "falling out of love with The Game"" gets the credit it deserves for being totally unfathomable in intent and featuring a made-up word.

Does this kind of discussion just come around during the international break?

Reports in the media suggest his people are asking for £20k p/w plus a £100k sweetener - doesn't seem massively unreasonable to me, if true...

I think we'll be pretty lucky to sign him for 4-5 years on that level of deal.

Certainly a priority to get him signed up asap. We don't want more nonsense like Pogba.

Is there any chance he would not renew his contract with us? Bayern and Juventus are lurking around, surely we all know he will have better opportunities and set up here for his necessary growth as a player, but that's what we all thought when we have players like Fabregas and Thiago linking with us in the summer too...

(Ok perhaps chance of Januzaj staying here would be much higher, but I am losing more confidence the longer the contract situation hasn't been solved. How comes we always leave this so late?)

This is what I cannot understand.

This is what I'm also asking myself. Do those contract talks take so long? Or do we really leave it so late? That would be quite amateurish though. (not that I would wonder given our last transfer window)

Agreed. That seems a pretty reasonable demand. You have to think about how Januzaj is likely to look for us in four years. 20k/wk will probably look like a steal by then.

He wouldn't still be on the same contract by then anyway so it doesn't matter.

It also served to make me lose the game.

I found this funny on SSN's "scouting" area.

Full marks for tackling, but not for passing or vision? Okay then.

Also given to marks for pace.. which is obv not true.

Clearly just made up stats, unsurprising

Most people in the media giving their two cents on him have only seen the Sunderland game and maybe the previous sub appearances.

Gonna have to improve his heading if he's going to be the new Fellaini. Having said that he has more ability than potential, which is out of this world.

It's not really hard to understand.

Youngsters under 18 can only sign 3 years contract so when we sign someone like Adnan he will be on a 3 year contract. Unless he makes the step up to first team within first year(which is highly unlikely for any player we sign at that age range) there is not much reason to offer them a newer contract. However end of the 2nd year is when we usually start offering newer terms but youngsters specially not the home grown ones will obviously prefer to stretch it out as far as possible because then they will have a stronger BATNA.

Januzaj's first season was troubled by that injury so it would have made no sense to offer him a renewal after that season. You can't blame the management much for the current situation, it is something that we should get used to specially when signing foreign talents of that age.

The agent said contract talks were underway last season but SAF retiring halted things. It would gave been nice to have had it done and dusted before the season started but I'm still optimistic we will get it done.

I think the maximum contract we can give him is 3 years?

I think there is far less risk from splashing out on a good sized long contract then there is him leaving for free and becoming a star player elsewhere.

Electrifying situation

When you see it all together like this, it's genuinely amazing - even for those who have always rated his chances of making it into the first team - how easy he has made the transition seem. In two years he's gone seamlessly from waltzing past U18s to waltzing past Premier League regulars, and he makes it look like nothing.

Fαpworthy video.

Really is a fantastic video. If he wasn't our player and we were after him over the summer we'd all be desperate for us to sign him! Slightly worrying that it's the other big clubs in Europe that are trying to do exactly that.

And when you think this time last year he was still just in the U18s. He's taken each step-up a level completely in his stride, and it's been pretty amazing to watch.

Fair play to Moyes for throwing him into the deep end. It really makes you wonder what would have happened had Fergie done the same with someone like Morrison.

I'm going to be controversial, but I still think it would be best for his development if he were to go out on loan for the rest of season. Play every game for a team like Everton (not actually Everton though obv) will be better for him than every few games against Smaller clubs for us. Sounds like he didn't want that though

Wouldn't be very good for us though. He's our sole beacon of light amidst a steaming turd of tepid football.
