Adnan Januzaj

You know what, the more you get past the defeat the better that cameo looks. It was hard to see the positives at the time because we needed a goal and ended up losing, but fecking hell, 18 years old and he comes on and plays like that in those circumstances. He's going to be a world beater, that lad. I think Moyes was entirely justified in bringing Kagawa off when you see that.

We need him signed up asap.

I don't understand why he didn't come on for Anderson, with Kagawa moving into the middle just in front of Carrick.

The tactics yesterday were baffling...

As far as I'm concerned, he looks a little lightweight, but bloody hell, he has done really well in these games. He has bundles of energy and I am sure Giggs will try to influence him in some form to keep on playing for us. A brilliant little player, and the last time I was this excited about a player was Cantona. I would have preferred him to start in place of Anderson to be honest. The lad has ten times the energy and the motivation than Anderson.

Very risky to do that, midfield was already struggling. I would have subbed him for Hernandez, he was playing a terrible game. Rooney as deep striker, Kagawa in the hole and Januzaj and Nani on the wings, i think that would have worked beter.

Agreed.

A Kagawa and Carrick midfield? I think that'd be more baffling. Imagine the uproar on here if Moyes tried that.

Given what he saw instead...?

Something like that perhaps, Kagawa isn't a wide player so essentially any setup whereby he has a more free role through the middle would be ideal.

He had a couple of nice dribbles and decent efforts but gave the ball away a bit too much with his passing. Also didnt look like his touch was at its most crisp. A few loose ones

We have seen how Cantona inspired the youngsters when he was with us and how they blossomed into world beaters. Perhaps it is a little premature, but when you see him play, he really does look like Giggs running down the wing. He loves to take on players. I mean, when was the last time we saw one of our players trying to take on an opposition right-back or left-back. Valencia tries but stops and Young...well, the less said about him, the better...the ultimate insult if you will, the James Milner of Manchester United. For the time-being, our season looks a little bleak, yet the only positive I can see is Januzaj.

Agreed, it was pretty impressive and I take what I said about his pace back.. looks pretty quick in that vid.

With certain players, even at a very young age, you can tell they are going to be something very special. I'm going to be brave and go as far as saying Januzaj will be one of the best players in the World. In a couple of seasons I think he will probably be as important for us as Bale was for Spurs last season. If Moyes can get him signed up, it will be the equivalent of a £50m signing for me.

Hopefully we can get him signed up to a long-term deal and then trim some of the fat *cough*Young*cough* to let Januzaj really make his mark in the team.

Playing Kagawa in CM, when he is not a CM would have been baffling. He could have, in hindsight, brought off Hernandez, put Rooney up top and Kagawa behind him, and have Januzaj on the left. At least the front 4 would have been playing in their more natural positions.

Did he (Adnan) sign a new contract ? i read somewhere that City are making good offer for him

Behold! One has seen the light.

I've always been baffled by people saying he's slow. I watched him in the reserves, and he was quick there. Unless the thinner atmosphere at the top of the game has slowed him down (which doesn't make sense :D).

Only watched the game today, but read the comments here yesterday. I must say that I think he was harshly criticised. In fact, I was impressed to the point where I'd like to see him start soon.

He's definitely never been slow. He's always been quick enough to play wide. But he did look to be eating up the ground on some of his dribbles yesterday quicker than I thought

You're forgetting that when he made those runs he was against a tiring full back when he'd only played 45 minutes himself. He'll never beat the quicker full backs pace for pace but he's quick enough and skillful enough to make it work for him.

I knew he wasn't slow but he was going past people with almost solely his pace against West Brom. He was slopppy at first but he definitely got better, he's just so good at taking someone on and beating them. I love it. Need to see more of this guy in the first team.

Whats been lost in all this is that Moyes brought him on because he felt he'd do more damage than Kagawa. Perhaps this is a sign that he's starting to prefer him out wide ahead of Shinji.

I think he'll be a bit more cautious in his use of him for the next few games but he'll probably get a chance from the start in the League Cup.

And people were screaming that Pogba didn't start against Blackburn. You can't expect youngsters to just always be brilliant and they need to be eased in to deal with the intensity of the matches.

Anyway Januzaj started off really slow and made a few mistakes but looked stronger and grew into the match and was much better in the last 20 minutes. I'd give him a start and see how he handles it.

Completely different situation considering then we started Rafael and Park in center midfield ahead of Pogba... Now we have Kagawa and Nani ahead of Januzaj. Big difference.

I could be wrong, but wasn't it his underhit pass to an overlapping full back (Buttner) that set up their first (and crucial) goal? That's a pretty massive mistake to be fair.

I like what I see, but had Young done the same thing, his head would be on the block.

He'll learn, and I hope we sign him up soon, but he's not prem-ready just yet. Give it a year or so of 1st team involvement at least!

You're not wrong. Januzaj took twenty minutes to really warm up. Before then our left flank became a massive liability. Both he and Buttner were ruthlessly exposed by West Brom and they kept losing the ball.

Once Januzaj got into the groove he was good but by then the game was getting away from us. As much as I rate him and think he'll be a top player someday bringing Januzaj on disrupted our rhythm and allowed West Brom a way back into a match we were on our way to grinding out a 1-0 win in. Had Ando kept his header down Kagawa would've been a hero at half time after all...

Yeah but you're forgetting his very nervous performances in the carling cup matches. Pogba was not ready at that time to have his first start in CM alongside park. But anyway that debates been done to death so lets not get back into it.

Unfortunately yes, but he lost the ball at the complete other end of the field, there's no excuses for the rest of the team not covering and winning the ball back by the time it reached our goal tbf so can't blame the goal on him.

Yeah it's a bit far fetched to blame him. He gave the ball away in an attacking position, and that's about it. He was sloppy starting off but no point attaching blame for the goal.

To be fair, the way he "lost the ball" was when he attempted a brilliant pass which Billy Jones was lucky to intercept seeing he wasnt even facing the ball.

He lost the ball trying to break down the defence - it happens.

The way that Ferdinand got skinned by Amalfitano was unforgivable though.

To blame Januzaj for that goal would be silly.

Has he signed his new contract, if not how long does it take to sign a piece of paper?

Yeah the turn over was pretty bad but it happens, especially for an an 18 year old. Ferdinand's defending was comical at best though.

He didn't look incredible but he played at least as well as an experienced international in Kagawa.

I agree it was probably the sole positive from the game (albeit an ember, rather than a blazing beacon).

Don't want to be the merchant of doom but it's possible we finish outside the top 4, and then lose Rooney, Kagawa and Januzaj in the summer....

Ludicrous to blame him for that goal. If we're not allowing players to take a risky pass from a few yards outside the box this elusive goal from open play won't ever happen. It was almost a brilliant through ball too. Buttner's getting stick for the goal as well but there was no way he could have got back to help out, as he was on an over-lapping forward run at the time.

Looking at the replays, Anderson's lack of effort getting back was annoying. Phil Jones didn't seem to be busting a gut either. Someone who was at the game will have to confirm whether either of them could have effected the outcome. Rank bad defending from Rio was by far the most important reason we conceded that goal though.
