I still think he's potentially a great player, and he's still young enough to get things back on track.

I think he's been unlucky being at Man Utd when he was. Moyes and LvG aren't the most inspiring/personable of characters, and the development of a young player can definitely be stifled in the wrong environment. Celtic would be great for him and Rogers is a great coach. Dortmund was unfortunate, but understandable from a young player, and Sunderland was a total mistake. He can't afford another mistake.

Always came across as having the wrong attitude and I felt like he thought he was a great player without proving a thing yet.

Massive pitty as he has lots of potential at one point. Sell him on and maybe insert a buy back clause in his deal. Ciao Adnan

This.

Don't really understand all the hate for him. Sure he didn't kick on in the way we expected to but all this talk of him being lazy and not making the most of his talent- tell me who did during the Moyes and LVG seasons? Work ethic only tells part of the story. Excelled at times under Moyes but then LVG didn't seem to trust him- maybe because Januzaj actually wanted to attack rather than pass back every time. The Dortmund loan was a disappointing one and you'd have hoped he would've made more of the experience. But then last year you could stick Messi in that Sunderland side and he'd look terrible.

Whatever the reasons for his struggles, the talk of him looking for a clean break from the club shows an acknowledgement that his career hasn't gone the way he envisioned here and is looking to start anew and make good on his potential. I have no ill will and wish him the best at his next club.

It's not hate. People just don't think he's good enough, not got a good enough attitude. Multiple managers have called him out on his attitude so it's not like people are pulling it out of thin air. He did well under moyes, years ago. How many crap years compared to how many good years? But never his fault, he was "unlucky".

Have seen the rubbish "Messi wouldn't look good in that Sunderland team" comment a few times. Let's disregard the fact that jermain defoe looked plenty good.

Adnan, average player with a terrible attitude. Get rid.

1. Squawka gave Januzaj a total stat of -41 (Squawka score column).
2. The mysterious column the table of 'Value' (below) is just my®© mysterious formula.
3. Notice how low I value CR7, because he'd be on at least £½m/week and he's 32.

Arrived at the age of sixteen in Manchester United, with the status of future star, Adnan Januzaj might leave his club and join the Real Sociedad.

Manchester United and the Spanish club have agreed on a transfer fee of 11 million euros, a year from the end of the contract of the attacking midfielder. Real Sociedad still has to find a wage agreement with the Belgian. At the age of 22, the native of Brussels remains linked to the Mancunians, who will have a priority buy-back clause over the next three years. In Spain, he should have the opportunity to play, stabilize and definitely 're-launch' his professional career.

Remember the rumours that PSG wanted him for £40m. Oh how i wish we took it!

That said good luck to the fella

Best of luck to him; hope it works-out.

I'm not too bothered about a buy-back clause, but I hope we have some sort of sell-on arrangement in there.

Excelled at times under Moyes but then LVG didn't seem to trust him- maybe because Januzaj actually wanted to attack rather than pass back every time.

Van gaal had a problem with midfielders losing possession. Not attackers. Memphis, Rashford, Lingard and Martial had no issues. They did whatever they liked in the attacking third. Januzaj didn't play because he wasn't good enough. Simple as.

We get to say no first when they try and sell him in 12 months.
Basically from the article it is just a right for the next 3 years to match any offers Sociedad get. Of course that does not mean Adnan would want to come back so it is no guarantee.
First refusal if they sell him I assume.
think we get first refusal if he makes it and we want to re-sign

similar to the Depay deal
Seems pointless without a price set as if he does turn great, they can still pull down our pants?

well there is the United tax

most european clubs buy a player for £x

means we can get him by matching their price rather than our normal £x + a big pile of x + Woodward with his pants down

if you get my meaning

some things stand out of that

Januzaj played more than Rooney but was far far more unproductive despite Wayne being awful this season

more notable - how the feck does Morata weigh more than Rooney

also - Ronaldo has a rating of 7.4?!? less than Zaha

Rooney is the second most productive player in our team. I don't know if that really says much. As far as I can remember Adnan I think was second for his team too.

As for the ratings in that chart. I don't know what the feck is going on.

All those reasons he was held back...but there's one common denominator every time.

Good luck to him with the move, Hope he can get his career back on track.

Strange thing to point out, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because he's five inches taller...

Confidence and terrible career choices can do that to a player.

the thing is, i don't get the impression that he doesn't have confidence. i think he perhaps has too much of it, but then again maybe that's what you were referring to in the first place.

nevertheless, januzaj had more than enough opportunities to make it and he simply didn't deliver. this isn't to say he'll never make it, but this page of his career will be turned in the following few weeks. he has only himself to blame, as i'm sure he has the talent

He probably thinks it's the clubs fault his careers stalled, fecking idjit. I actually used to watch him a lot in the youth and have a lot of time for him, he has a lot of raw talent, despite what the last few seasons have some believing. Real Sociedad could be a decent move for him, but he needs to knuckledown and want it enough first and foremost.

He's too slow to be a winger, and lacks the determination to be... well, anything else.

Such a shame.

Januzaj is supremely talented, it seems his attitude and application that's let him down.

I hope he moves to Celtic. He'd do well and get his confidence again.

I think he has it in him to be a great player but at this stage we can't afford to give him the time anymore to prove that. He was mismanaged in the LVG season and then part of a very crap Sunderland squad but at the end of the day you have to take responsibility for where you stand.

This transfer might come back to haunt us but I don't blame United right now at all for selling him. Only sensible decision.

Agree. Was so excited to see what he could do when he first came in. What really stood out was his vision and that's something innate.
Hope he does go on to do well and think the pace of the game in Spain will suit him. I fear he's got the Anderson mentality though. Just happy cruising on and trousering £40k a week......
Think Anderson was on more than that though!

I think he has to give himself the chance to prove it before the club can. He has an attitude problem, is lazy and thinks he's far better than he is.

I think he'll float around the mid-table European sides unless he takes a long, hard look at himself.

This guy is just lazy and looks uninterested in anything, constantly living on his debut season wonderboy status. glad we wont need to have anything to do with him. and the clubs interested just looks too good for him.
