Adnan Januzaj Exit Speculation

Bad attitude and appears lazy, you can have all the talent in the world, but if you haven't the appetite, you can't make it at United.

We should send him on loan to Sunderland. Moyes will give him a starting spot. He desperately needs to be playing games at this point. Keeping him another year on the bench will be of no use to him or us. He certainly won't break in to our starting lineup. He might not even make the match day squad.
So true. David knows him and his talent and would give him his preferred free role and I really hope that he turns it around ... I really like adnan, I just feel so disappointed when I see him on pitch ... hope he does great things and when he comes back next year he would achieve his potential

Yeah, would love to see him turn it around. In my opinion, he made a big mistake last year by choosing to go to Dortmund. If he had gone to a lower EPL team, he might have had a better chance at playing more games.

Maybe that was also part of his problems. He felt too good to go to a lower club and it was the wrong decision. Didnt LVG say that he didnt support that decision? If he doesnt sort himself out, he will be the another wasted talents

I agree. Now that he knows that he is not as good as he thought he was, I think he'll be more amicable to a loan spell to a lower EPL team. This year is make or break for him as far as his future at United is concerned. Personally, I don't think he'll make it here.

Will still keep. Kid is too talented to just let go like that.

I agree but if his attitude really is an issue, his talent just wont be enough
Attitude can be solved(if he really had attitude issues because so far these talks about him being lazy and such are pretty baseless to me) but talent such as his is very rare. After what happened 4 years ago with Pogba we ought to have learnt to be patient with these talented kids and see how they get on with time.

The talent and potential is still very much there, what needed now is to find ways to bring it fourth. Attitude or not, that's what managers are also there for, to guide and help these kids fulfill they potential.

So true ... I guess that's the influence the agents have on football .. LVG said that he tried to talk him out of moving to Dortmund but he insisted. Sunderland will be perfect for him. He kinds of remind me more talented form of Morten Gamst Pedersen; I don't know why

How can it be solved? So far, we keep hearing negative things and if he is really up for sale, it looks like Jose thinks the same

LVG had thought it was better for him to have loan to the Dutch clubs or championship club. But he insisted on Dortmund.

I think his agent is part of the problem, seems like the agent never gave him advice that is beat for his career develpment.

Morata, Negredo, IIRC Soldado.
Barca signed Suarez.

Didn't Madrid just buy back Morata using one of those clauses?

I don't think Soldado was. Morata was bought back by Real with the plan of selling him on for £70m (presumably to fund the Pogba transfer) only no one wants to buy him which I find hilarious.

If you sell the player on these type of deals you have to accept a lower initial fee so it can be a false economy a lot of the time.

Can see Adnan being sold but ffs we must learn from other top clubs and the Pogba mess and put a buy back clause in. Not a first refusal BS but an actual buy back clause in 2 years at 150% of what we sell him for
Somehow it is not a popular peactice for England clubs.

The only time I heard abt this or similar clause by ManUtd was the Rossi deal.

Adnan looked to showoff in that one reserve match.
Against Sunderland on January 25, 2016, Adnan and Andreas were accused of competing to score from a corner. Another time, when playing as striker, Adnan was accused of not being a good enough #9. That's a fair point, but the manager surely knew that before playing him there. Andreas scored from a corner against Spurs under 21s on early January, 2016. Wonderful, if he can do that. He should try it every so often, especially if a goalie is known for leaving his line early [not that the Spurs keeper did]. Seems a manager hates this kind of thing, but official website loves it.

Trying it all the time is not useful for anyone. That's why managers don't want you trying every corner. It also is infuriating when your defenders come for a corner only to see it go out or straight to the keeper

Played well that match, according to the reports at MEN [vs. Sunderland on January 25, 2016] and almost scored from a corner on 36 minutes:
"Januzaj swings the corner in and it almost goes in again. Sunderland captain Agnew nods it off the line."

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but did we put a buy back clause when we sold Rossi?

I'm not joking but some of the opinions on here sound all too familiar to when Pogba was leaving. The guy we are now paying £100m to bring back.

I'm not saying he's ever going to be worth that, but in my eyes Januzaj is extremely talented and to let him go is madness. I watched him, Ravel and Pogba coming through and Adnan is in the same bracket when it comes to talent. So much for giving youth a chance.

At 18, Adnan was better than Pogba. I am also not saying he will end up as good but he is ridiculously talented.

Let's just hope the likes of Rashford, TFM and CBJ don't have one bad season else the Caf will be looking to sell them off before they hit 23.

Much as I'd like to see Adnan given a chance to get back on track with us, it's more than a case of having one bad season. He's definitely had two bad seasons, and even towards the end of his one good season people were saying he was looking jaded.

He's got a lot to do, and I think it'll have to be on loan. If he isn't happy with that, then I say sell, with a buy-back clause.

I am ready for it. Rashford will have 2-3 bad games as will Martial and the Caf will be all about how to sell them.

If Rashford has 2 seasons where he couldn't even get into the team ahead of some of the worst players, everyone will rightly question him too. And if he chooses to goto a club and ends up getting criticised by the manager for something like 'not having the mentality to succeed as a youngster'

Right.

So first season we get a manager that plays Rashford as a winger. He has some shite games because he's 19 and can't get in the team. Second season the manager signs more senior players and Rashford decides to go on loan to another club to get playing time. There, he can't seem to get games as the manager doesn't give two hoots about his development. Now he has 2 seasons where he can't "get into the team" and convenient journalists/fans will say it's attitude that rushed to his head.

The CAF/Press changes its tone really quick. It's Januzaj today we aren't backing, it will be Rashford tomorrow. It was Pogba before them.

From the outside, looking in (aren't we all, because we all know next to nothing), there are some important lessons to be learnt here.

I can understand why some are agitated that players like Pereira and Januzaj were seemingly not given the same amount of time and patience as other players have - even though they (some others) were stinking up the place week in, week out. It could well be the reason their heads dropped and they started mucking about in training and U/21 matches. It's human nature to become despondent, even more so when you're feeling entitled or hard done by.

But then again, that's the very question you need to ask yourself - why did other players get the opportunity to prove themselves over and over again, seemingly no matter how poor/average they were (Depay, Lingard springs to mind)? (There are other factors like Depay adjusting, big money transfer etc, but I'll ignore that for now). It's most probably because they displayed a professionalism and dedication/team spirit the likes of Januzaj and Pereira didn't. They never became despondent and allowed their heads to drop or became ill disciplined. And that's an infinitely more endearing quality to managers.

Personally, I'd have given them, especially Januzaj, more chances over some others, especially after the promise he showed during Moyes' reign. But he needs to take responsibility and change his mindset a bit. I think, if memory serves me right, Dortmund wasn't our preferred choice for his loan, but once again, Adnan wanted to go there, even though he was well aware of the competition upfront. It's just another sign where it feels like he seemingly thinks he's too good for a certain level club....which points to his mindset.

Obviously there's nothing wrong with showing ambition and confidence (like Pogba), but the u need to be able to back it up on the field and training ground.

Anyway, I hope him realizing its in his best interest to move on, is a sign of him maturing a bit. I hope he chooses the right club where he'll get game time to develop. And to god, I also hope we start inserting fecking buy back clauses into their sale agreements.

If a player isn't showing the correct attitude or work-rate in training, then no, they don't deserve to play.

The last thing we want to portray as a club is that anything less than 100% and total dedication is acceptable.

I agree in principle, but we are currently about to pay ~100m to get back a player we let go for largely similar reasons...

For the record, I don't think he doesn't deserves to be getting playing time here at the moment but selling him could prove very costly. I'm really hoping for a loan somewhere where he can get plenty of playing time.

He chose to goto that particular club ignoring the club's advice not to. Can't complain then that he didn't get a helpful manager after that.

At a club like United you have to show what you got in the chances you get. Lingard got more chances because while he wasn't extraordinary he did the little things right.

It's 2 things that could have happened. Either he didn't put in effort in training that guys like Young and lingard and all did or van gaal had personal vendetta against him which made him make it a point not to start him. Van gaal had lots of fault but his judgment on youth is something I respect and I'm sure most do.

Not really. Adnan has been publicly criticised by 3 managers now for not applying himself or not acting in a professional manner. Pogba was only ever praised by people who have worked with him in the past.

Pogba left because Fergie didn't want to give in to his demand for a chance in the first team. It was one of the few negative effects of Fergie's stubbornness. I mean, Rafael and Ji Sung Park as a midfield 2 in front of Pogba is a big "feck you" to the player. I don't think many people blame Pogba for leaving.

It seems Januzaj will be leaving because he has decided not to listen to his coaches advice.

So you blame him for not wanting to develop under LVG who was playing him all over the park and didn't really care for his instinctive free flowing style of play?

And yeah, you need to make good of your chances. That is why Depay was getting selected ahead of Januzaj last season right?

Also, I don't think Van Gaal had a personal Vandetta but didn't like his style of play.

Right.

If I remember correctly, most people wanted Pogba to be played and given more chances.
The only argument against it was "SAF knows best" which is pretty damn tough to try and deny (especially pre-Moyes debacle).

And right now the argument is the managers must be seeing something in training.

Some have argued fairly that he is weak on the ball but most here are speculating.

Again, I am not sure Januzaj will ever get to Pogba's level but he does have that spark which could see him there. Yeah a lot of players do, but they need a proper run before we can confirm he's not meant to be playing that level of football

Loaning him out to Dortmund was stupid, about as stupid as loaning Hernandez out to Madrid was.

It is unfortunate that Januzaj doesn't want to go out on another loan. I think he can be a very good player under the right coach but right now is not ideal to give him the time he needs at United. The sunderland loan under Moyes would have been golden. I'am sure Dave would play him regularly if not to say all the time, he was also the coach that got the best out of him. Should be able to judge him properly after a loan like that but now we are just guessing in the dark really. He has the talent and potential to be a very good player but he has been at wrong clubs under the wrong managers for too long. The boy has ambition, he wants to make it, I don't even think he has a bad attitude or anything like that but he just really needs to get serious playing time from a manager that believes in him, since Moyes he hasn't had that.

If we sell him, he could turn into a Pogba story all over again, altough I do think Pogba was and is the more talented footballer. But if he wants to leave, what can you do ?

I doubt he is particularly good is the main problem.

Me too. We are still leaving off those bloody 6 months where we finished 7th!! I hope he finds a good move and has a good career. He might even win the league one day like Drinkwater. But I don't think he will be what many expect him to be, he doesn't poses it.

We could have this argument about Jordan Ibe if we wanted! The spark wasn't that bright.
