Adam Johnson Looking For A Way Out

But you'd be looking at 10 years of service down the left flank. At our club, training with the likes of Rooney, Giggs, Nani, Berbatov, Evra etc he'd end up being worth every penny.

I think we'll sign him within the next year and a half.

How confident are you that he will spend the next ten years of his career at United provided we DO end up signing him?

RWB's Gareth Bale obsessed.

He's already talked about how much he'd love to sign Bale in the Bale thread, god knows why he feels the need to talk about it in a Johnson thread!

Replacing Valencia or Nani? I doubt either of them will want to sit on the bench in their prime.

Bale takes the left, Nani and Valencia (yes, there are more than enough games/opportunities) take the right AND Nani is still an option for the left

Very, he's a balanced kid, he won't be wanting away to sunnier climbs if he's at an English club who are competing on every front. Thus, I'm very confident.

This is correct (as Brwned's posts usually are, to be fair) and I do apologize for steering the thread away from topic.

I'm not Bale obsessed though...I mean, sure, I've got the Bale duvet and pillow set, Bale mug, Bale written on the back of a Utd shirt, and I won't have sex with my girlfriend unless both she and I are wearing our Bale comedy masks...but c'mon, that's just a bit of harmless fun :)

Its a right pain in the arse that Bale chose Spurs over us. It must have been about money & Fergie never gives massive contracts to the likes of Bale who was just starting to show promise at Southampton!

Would love to know the ins & outs of why he went to them tho, if it was just a question of money or he wanted the big City lights of London!

We should have pushed the boat out for him because he's lookin the player i thought he could be!

Probably thought there'd be more first team action. I doubt it's money.

According to the Daily Mail; Steve Bruce is supposed to make a move for him alongside a permanent move for Onahua in January, letting someone go would make a bit of sense, based on other rumours that Manchester City are looking to enforce their team further in January. Would be a excellent option for Sunderland, to give them a couple of really good wingers with Ahmed Elmohamady might turn out a great right winger, It would give them a very strong wide game on top of a excellent forward couple even after Welbeck returns to us, I bet Gyan - Bent can turn into a great partnership given time... Moving to Sunderland would probably be a great move for Adam Johnson, he would develop there instead of rotting at City.

Never realized what the big fuss was about with him, still dont, oh wait he is English, nevermind he doesnt need to be great to be a world class prospect.

Sorry man, i think you were on about the thread title in your post - my bad. We kinda drifted onto the Bale debate & thats what my last post was about & i thought thats what you were on about!

Johnson has potential but not great at the mo, maybe due to not gettin game time & being in a shit club. The irony is - he chose Shitty & Bale chose Spuds over us aswell. Could be massive mistakes :wenger:

I don't think he choosed city over us, I doubt Fergie even wanted him. I was never impressed with him at Boro, good talant yes but nothing more. At city he's proved that he's a good player and now I would like him at United but won't happen.

He did say we showed him around Old Trafford and all the facilities but then we did not make an attempt to contact him after that. So he chose City.

He should get out of there asap, he's not going to get any games for them.

Arsene, are you watching?

Liverpool and Arsenal could both do with him.

Heck, Arsenal could do with anyone.

We should loan them Morrison and Pogba :D

How many England careers have ended at City? Wright Phillips, Richards, Barry, Milner, Johnson, Bridge. Serves them right for putting money before ambition

tbf, two of them had their careers finished at Chelsea already. Whores. Johnson will find a way out of there, as he's a top player deserving better than clapping Silva and Nasri from the bench.

He would do well for teams like Spurs or Villa.

Wonder what kind of wages he's on at City. I'd imagine it's far more than players of similar age and pedigree at other clubs so that might be a stumbling block unless he's willing to take a cut. Would be a shrewd buy from Wenger but he's not French(ish) and under age 21.

With City looking like they're willing to let Adebayor go to Spurs, and Bellamy to Liverpool, I think they no longer see themselves as having to compete with those teams. Previously they showed they were willing to eat wages to keep Bellamy away from Spurs, when they were a challenger to City.

Not sure where he could end up, Spurs have Bale, Liverpool just bought Downing. Maybe someone in Italy?

Depending on the price I could see Sunderland going for him, possibly Bolton if they get the Cahill money or Everton if they get the Jagielka money.

The first teams that would come to mind don't really need him or have just signed someone in his position: Spurs (Bale), Arsenal (Gervinho), Liverpool (Downing), Chelsea (Perreira or whatever / Malouda / Mata).

Sunderland or Bolton would be good fits.

To be fair, absolutely none of them except Richards should be near a game-day starting XI or bench. Johnson has regressed since last season.

Barry is useless if Fabio continues to utilize his attack-minded 4-3-3 as Barry is quite limited. If Fabio is smart, he's looking to Wilshere, Cleverly, and Jones to be his three-man midfield. England is set with CBs for the time being, no use in putting Jones there. Plus, I see him evolving into the next Hargreaves more so than the next hard hitting Terry. He doesn't have the composure to be a Rio.

Milner was always a stop gap, hard working player, but he never lit up the international stage. And Bridge and SWP just aren't good enough.

If it's me making the next formation, I'm going with:

-----------------Hart-----------------
Richards----Terry----Smalling-----Cole
----------------Jones---------------
--------Wilshere------Cleverly-------
Agbonlahor------Rooney---------Young

And telling the press - F it, we have a year to get our new boys playing together and preparing for Euro, plus the WC. We want a dynamic playing style and these are the best men for the job.

I don't really see why Downing would stop Liverpool from buying Johnson, he's the only winger in their whole squad.

I've always begrudgingly rated him. He's one of the only true wingers at City but by the looks of things they're trying a more narrow arrangement with a fluid three of Silva, Aguero and Nasri behind a lone striker. He would get his fair share of game time if he stayed but would probably be better off elsewhere if he wants a regular place and regular England caps.

I'm not surprised he has offers, if we didn't have four wingers I'd probably take him at United to be honest.

If Arsene wanted him, he'd have had him included in the Nasri deal but as to why Arsene didn't consider that in the first place, I have no idea.

Chelsea were supposedly interested a few weeks ago but City made it clear they wouldn't even entertain the idea.

Even if Johnson demands to leave they'll just probably send him on loan to some midtable side rather than selling him to any club they consider a rival.

Richards is crap. Stick Smalling there and pull Cahill in CD. Smalling's versatility might see him go the same route as Brown, shuffled all over the defense. There's also that Walker kid at Spurs.

Could also stick Albrighton on the right wing.

Instead of spending £15m on Chamberlain, he should have worked out a deal with them to sign Johnson and Wright-Phillips plus £10 for Nasri or something around that region.

Agbonlahor?
